The PMK is a party of Vanniars ( MBC )
The MDMK is a party of Vijanayagar descendants
The Chettiars and Vellalas were historically literate, forward castes
they run several mutts and had a rich heritage in tamil literature
and were in no way backward
In Sri Lanka, the velalas took to english medium education
In tamil nadu, they lagged behind in english medium education resulting in brahmins filling the vacuum
Instead of taking the hard way to learn english, it is much easier to whip up hatred against a 3% minority , fool the real MBC and Dalits and grab power
