If there is one thing that Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav is more proud of than his political achievements, it is his nine children, who he likes to point out are all ââfair and goodlooking, by the grace of Godââ. At daughter Chandaâs Haldi Kailash and Mehendi, all seven daughters were turned out in sparkling lehngas each prettier than the next. The two teenaged sons Tej Pratap and Tejashwi are handsome, personable boys. The latter is a talented cricketer and is in the Delhi juniors team. No one in the family seems very fond of studiesâChanda dropped out of Pune Law college and, according to a former classmate, the five younger girls when at a boarding school in Ranchi were known as the ââflunkey quintetââ.

A jovial Lalu playfully smeared colour on the guests. There was even a nughty dance number with the professional troupe togged out in bikini tops, brief shorts and frilly capes.
