<b>'Power thieves live in posh colonies' </b>

Ironically, A major chunk of power thieves live in posh colonies. According to the survey conducted by Power Distribution Companies (DISCOMs), it has come to light that after slum dwellers, <b>the residents of Greater Kailash-I and II, Green Park, Panchsheel Park, Punjabi Bagh, Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh and Ashok Vihar also indulge in power theft.</b>
According to a source in the discoms, <b>around 15-20 per cent of power is being stolen by those living in posh areas</b>. A few of them had also been caught red- handed by the officials of these companies. "These people have installed all the electronic gadgets. Although they use them, they are not ready to pay for the power they consume and the best option left to them is to steal. After those living in the shanties, they are the next major section who steal power," said an official at Brihanmumbai Suburban Electricity Supply (BSES).
<b>In fact, some influential people with political connections were also found indulging in power theft.
