The Congress is bedridden! This is what a prominent Congress leader said when queried on the happenings in his party.
For the last 15 days, the Congress has been at a standstill. All leaders are busy finding out if they can meet Sonia Gandhi with get well soon wishes.
Neither the general secretaries nor the Ministers could meet Sonia as she was advised complete rest after a six-day hospitalisation.
Congress leaders are as surprised by their president's illness as they are by not getting an appointment with her. Sources said, Sonia is being looked after by her mother Paula Maino and it was she who was at Gangaram Hospital round the clock.
Even Rahul and Priyanka could not spend too much time with Sonia.
Every winter Paulo comes to India to be with her daughter and stays at 10, Janpath. She was here on her annual visit when Sonia had an asthma attack.
Except for a few minutes that State's incharge spent with Sonia on Wednesday, no senior Minister and not <b>even Prime Minister Manmohan Singh could get an appointment with her</b>. <!--emo&

So, for all practical purposes, the Congress will start moving again only after January 14, even as one wonders why heir apparent Rahul could not carry on the business of politics while his mother was ailing. Sources said, that was because he is yet to get over the defeats in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.
