V-C of university where Rahul was not allowed to meet students quits
Lucknow, November 4: : The Vice-Chancellor of Chandra Shekhar Azad Agricultural Univeristy in Kanpur, where the Mayawati Government had prevented Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from interacting with students, on Tuesday resigned from his post.

The Governor took a serious view of the cancellation of Rahul's programme and had also cancelled his visit to univeristy on the same day for convocation.
Later, the Vice-Chancellor was summoned by the Pricipal Secretary to the Governor and an explanation sought from him over the incident.
V-C Suri had, in a press statement earlier, claimed no permission was sought for Gandhi's programme.
The incident had triggered a political furore with political parties across the spectrum criticising the prevention of Gandhi from addressing the university students.
