RAWALPINDI: The Taliban attacked a security forcesâ convoy on Saturday, killing Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat-e-Muhammadi (TNSM) naib amir Maulana Alam and spokesman Amir Izaat while they were being transported to Peshawar.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Athar Abbas told reporters in Rawalpindi the Taliban attacked the convoy after it hit an improvised explosive device (IED). He said one non-commissioned officer was also martyred in the attack, and five others were injured. He said the convoy was carrying prisoners needed for a âspecial investigationâ by intelligence agencies. To questions, he said TNSM chief Sufi Muhammad was not in custody, but confirmed that TNSM leader Maulana Wahab was currently being interrogated by security forces.
During a separate press conference in Peshawar, NWFP Information Minister Iftikhar Hussain blamed the Taliban for killing the two TNSM leaders. âThere were differences between the TNSM and the Taliban. We are 90 percent certain the terrorists attacked the convoy to kill the two men,â <!--emo&

So, there should be no doubt in anyoneâs mind about who carried out (Saturdayâs) attack,â he added. To questions, he said there was some confusion over the number of IDPs, because several families had registered themselves at different points.
