Blast In Mumbai's Suburban Train
India: Bombed but Unbowed

QUOTEIndia remains as committed to economic reform today as it was Tuesday. And it should also remain committed to the peace process with Pakistan, as tension between the two countries also affects their economies. Tuesday's attack displayed the skillful planning that is a hallmark of Kashmiri terrorist groups, which India accuses Pakistan of backing or at least condoning. Even if such a group is responsible, India and Pakistan should maintain confidence-building measures, such as cross-border bus routes, and avoid unnecessary military escalation, as they largely have since 2002. Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's quick condemnation of the attacks was a welcome sign that the bombs, devastating though they were, need not change the region's positive course.

1. Presidential form where PM/CM is elected directly and ministers should not be from MP/MLA to represent executive. (executive is not from legislature)
2. Legislature that can override any bill put forward by PM/CM. Legislature can introduce bills. (Independent legislature that is separate from legislature)
3. Lower assembly(Lok sabha) can have different number of MPs for different states
4. Rajya sabha also should be elected but same number of MPs (say 3) from each state to give uniform power to all states. The whole state will elect each of them.
5. The Lok Sabha will protect constituent interests where are the Rajya sabha will protect state interest where as the executive (PM) will protectthe country’s interests.
6. Election for posts such as Police chiefs (DSP/IG), judges, public prosecutors, attorney general etc. So the police will be responsible to elected police chiefs rather than controlled by our politicians.
7. Primary elections for each party to determine who will represent that party (to destroy power brokers )
8. If a party has less 10% of total primary voters, eliminate that party in final election in that constituency.

And how do we do this?

If we want to reform our Govt. we have to introduce reforms one by one.

I think we should fight for primary elections first to remove power brokers and party leaders. As soon as the lower level political workers realize that they don't need Sonia or Laloo or Mulayam or Advani to get a party tickets, they will not be so loyal to these sh!tty leaders.

A bit too transparent there Mehmood. The readers might know you're hinting that your two-bit country was involved: "blasts underlined the need for P & I to resolve disputes" (aka "give in to all the Islamic requirements of Indian and Pak Muslims"). If Pak was not involved, why say this? Did the US say the blasts underlined the need for US & I to resolve disputes? No? That's because the US wasn't involved.

Kashmir has been split between India and Pakistan since shortly after the two countries gained independence from Britain in 1947, but both claim it in full.

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz strongly condemned the "terrorist attack" in Mumbai.

Mumbai, a metropolis of about 17 million formerly known as Bombay, has been hit by bomb blasts in the past decade.

More than 250 people died in a string of bomb explosions in the city in 1993 for which authorities blamed the city's underworld criminal gangs. Those attacks followed the demolition of a mosque in the Hindu holy city of Ayodhya.
Krittivas Treacherous Mukherjee - infuses an excuse for the Islamic Terrorists in the final para, so as to make this act of terrorism (16 years since the crappy usurping mosque in Ayodhya got its deserved reward) appear like just desserts in the readers' minds.
--- News brought to you by Ze Global Christian Media, working with our friends the Muslims of India (Christian and Muslim minority, Hindu majority), fighting our enemies the Muslims of the Middle-east (Christian minority, Islamic majority) to bring you unadulterated, honest-to-Jehova news! (We'll take all the Krittivas Mukherjees that India can toss our way) ---

Compelled to wonder: when the WTC was attacked by the Islamic terrorists, why didn't the Christian Media immediately write articles that ended on a final para informing its readers that the US had caused trouble in Libya & Lebannon, set up the dictatorship in Iraq and the Tban in Afghanistan and then dumped them when there was no use anymore? Why didn't they mention in the final para that with the US help, Iraq waged war against Iran and murdered many Iraqis and Iranians? And that the women of Afghanistan owe their life-imprisonment to the Tban whom the Jehova-fearing US created?
Come to it, why didn't the last paragraphs of news detailing the WTC attack recap the Crusades? Ayodhya was 16 years ago (and many terrorist strikes later), Crusades was several centuries ago - both should be admissible since time is no object. They're trying to argue for 'just retaliation', right? Yes "secular" Christian Media, please mention the Crusades when any mention is made of the WTC, London bombings, Madrid, Italy from now on.

My neighbor today was asking me about the blasts. It wasn’t the right time to answer her insignificant questions like “Who is behind these blasts?” but I just very casually and matter-of-factly said “terrorists”. By terrorists I meant just that - terrorists. Normally I hate to bring religion into anything but I need to mention here that she is Muslim. The minute I said terrorists, she suddenly looked very alarmed and said that it’s just these fanatics within the state who do all this and blame it on the terrorists. Now! What exactly did she mean by “blaming it on terrorists”? Any person belonging to any religion who is behind the blasts is a terrorist! It could very well be those fanatics residing within the state belonging to “my” religion, I agree. But how did she assume that I was not referring to them? She just associated the word terrorist to her religion, why? It’s hurting how she was least concerned about how it has affected the common people in Bombay. How the heck does it matter if the person behind the blasts was Hindu or Muslim or Christian. For me that’s a terrorist! – and terrorism is his religion!! This one experience has left me a bit upset. I am wondering if the fault lies in her thinking or is it people like us who have made them feel like that. It’s probably both. Whatever the case may be, I wish people start thinking “human” first and then about their communities. Else what is the difference between terrorist’s thinking and ours? Don’t we think the same then…just that the actions differ?! I don’t really know how to react to all this. And what are we going to do about all this? Are we experiencing some kind of anarchy in India? There is no control whatsoever. Aren’t we compassionate enough to think deeper about these problems? Should we just forget all that happened in a DAY??? “EVERYTHING BACK TO NORMAL IN MUMBAI!” As much as I love Bombay for this very reason, I don’t think bringing back everything to normalcy is going in the right direction. I say just stop all the work, protest, and show opposition of some kind! And let the Govt “hear” your anger! They won’t care a damn about all this if you show this so-called “resilient” approach. That is not being strong. It’s being nonchalant to the casualties. Just being glad that you and your family are safe and just sympathizing with the rest is not going to help matters. Showing the terrorists that we are still fine and normal is not the right approach! I can so well feel what those families are going through, having had a close experience myself. We are just blaming the Govt. through blogs or just making it some lunch time discussion. But how about just “doing” something to show protest, in whatever capacity we can - like a "Satyagraha". I know I am repeating myself but I strongly feel that people should unite and stop all the work for some days and show how badly these blasts can affect the whole nation and not just the families of the dead and injured. Close the companies, offices, schools for a week, month and show that this is affectng us!!!!!!! Just hope it's not just "return to normalcy" or "resilient Mumbai" but a more hard-hitting reaction from my people in Bombay! counter easy hit

Press Trust of India
Posted online: Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at 1724 hours IST

Mumbai, July 12: Some political figures in Maharashtra are under the police scanner for their "suspicious" actions and action will be taken against them at an appropriate time, State Police Chief P S Pasricha said on Wednesday.

"Unke harkate thik nahin hain (their activities do not seem to be right)," he said, adding the police was keeping a close watch on these political figures.

Pasricha did not did not say whether the figures were suspected to be involved in subversive or criminal activities in the state. He also did not give details about the figures.

He, however, dodged a query on a media report that claimed a South Mumbai politician, who has considerable clout in a minority community, was under the scanner of intelligence agencies for his suspected role in Tuesday’s serial blasts in suburban trains.

The report quoted intelligence sources as saying that the politician could have instigated the blasts in retaliation for a recent strife in a minority-dominated area of Thane district.

Intelligence bureau sources, however, said that the politician was under the scanner for his alleged involvement in transferring money from foreign countries to India through illegal channels.

"His role in yesterday's blast has still not been established," a source said.

I agree with this completely. I am sick and tired of our 'resilience'. Each time we are expected to out-do our 'resilience' earlier. Its indifference and cowardice clothed in euphoria. Few years ago I was talking to a bambaiya friend and he was boasting how people got back to their (indifferent) lives the very next day after 93 blasts. I didnt know what to say then. I am sick and tired now.
I just remembered. This bambaiya friend had also mentioned that they had setup these huge postors all over mumbai to congratulate all bombayites on how fast they had become indifferent to the tragedy that had unfolded then.
Just now I was talking to someone in India and he was saying on TV they showed interview of some Indian Cinema actor and he was suggesting, we have to get used to as we are soft target. If this is the mentality and this what media and government is preaching, I think then India deserve these attack.

As I said, politician was involved, but he is a high profile so coverup will continue. This may rope in high profile Actors or actress also. UPA want to stay in power they won't touch these people.
UPA is mahan.

Mudy the actor was correct and that is indeed a correct reflection of the entire society. I hope this time they collect pictures of all who died, separated limbs and all and put up huge postors for bombaiyaas to stare at every day they take their sorry asses through those very same commuter trains.

Giving an assurance that government would extend all possible help to each of the families in distress, he said, "Mumbai stands tall once again as the symbol of a united India -- An inclusive India."
