Question on Hinduism?
#1
What would you improve about hinduism? Is there even anything to improve for you? Im not born a hindu but will give my opinion however. I would stop worship of unhiegynic and dangerous animals like rats and snakes. I would stop superstition like believing that retarded people are reincarnation of gods like the little girl who was born retarded and was thought by hindus to be the reincarnation of the godess lakshmi. I would not forbid idol worshipping because i think the hindu idols and arts is beautiful and something to be proud of. I would also get rid of marrying dogs or animals, tantric teachings like vagina(yoni) worship, and sects and cults like the aghoris who drink cow piss practice cannibalism and smoke weed would be forbidden because they are no saints for me. I would put on emphazy more on the monotheistic side of hinduism like the one supreme being (i know that even hindus believe in the one supreme being but with many faces). I would restrict cow worship wouldnt end it but restrict it. Cows shouldnt walk freely on the streets and block the traffic and shit on the roads, i would also allow people to eat the cow because if she is holy its ok to drink her milk and eat her meat because she will give you power i think the early santhana dharmis ate cow meat (dont quote me on that because im not sure) but she has to be respected and not tortured or killed in a painful way etc...

What do you think of my ideas? No disrespect intended. Thanks

Nothing wrong w/ your ideas but to me, these seem to be more media motivated rather than your actual experience. Again no disrespect meant, it's good to know what we represent. However, if you are serious about doing anything about Hinduism, it is to 'unite Hindus'. <img src='http://www.india-forum.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Most of what you said sounds like reiteration of the usual propaganda against Hinduism. The #1 thing I would say that Hindus should do is focus on economic growth, industrialization and to keep the Hindu % as high as possible in India. Everything you stated about Hinduism is found in ALL eastern religions including Shintoism. Nobody even criticizes Japananese on untouchability (Burakamin caste) for example even though Hindus have done far more than them help all ethnic groups.

This is because Japan is a 1st world nation. 99.9% of the attacks on Hinduism are related to India's economic condition, truly nothing more. I guarantee you if India was as rich and powerful as the U.S., everyone in the world will be praising Hinduism.

Hinduism is on the verge of a major rise because India will become a middle income nation by 2020. You will see Hinduism's image "magically" improving because it correlates almost perfectly with the economic condition of India. The Christian missionaries know that time is not on their side, after another 15 years, conversions will drop dramatically as only poor people convert out of desperation. The Jesus message is hollow and mostly a fraud.

Eating Beef is not a good idea because the calorie ratio is 30:1 (Takes 30 calories of grass/grain energy for 1 calorie of meat energy). Very inefficient and causes environmental damage. Fish and Chicken meat is much more efficient. Anyway in India people do what they want. The cows are being removed off the streets slowly anyway, that's just a matter of time as the country becomes less agrarian.

agnivayu besides the calorie explanation why isn't it asked that westerners seem to find eating dogs & cats repulsive?

The Chinese & Koreans seem to have no problem with this.

So I am guessing the West must immediately start a mass industry of dog and cat meat to prove their "rationalism".

I agree with your main point about focus on economic growth but this is should not blind Hindus to the other issues facing them many of which have been discussed at manasataramgini by HH. Before Yukio Mishima's seppuku/hara kiri he predicted that the Japanese would be nothing but mercenaries for the Americans despite their economic growth and in this he has been proven quiet right.

Not just dogs and cats. In the U.S. there are huge fiery protests against the few horse meat slaughterhouses. Apparently horse meat is in high demand in France, but the protesters say that the Horse is the symbol of the old West (Western U.S.) and therefore should not be eaten. Holy Horses! Now that's hypocrisy.

Japan didn't become a truly independent civilization because their population of 125 million is too small. India which is basically 10 x Japans will be too big to be controlled hence the fear of India and the constant reiteration in the Western Media that India is not really one country etc. Many Western strategists don't want to convert India 100% to Christianity. Infact they would prefer the East Timor strategy. Convert enough to carve Christian Kingdoms out of the Indian state to weaken it.

I dont want to reitarate propaganda against hinduism, i just recycled what i read and watched and heard and gave my opinion what could be better. I agree with you that hindus should focus on economic growth and industrialization. Thats very important. Its good that the cows are removed from the streets slowly. I respect all animals and the cow and i have nothing against the cow being sacred. I do eat beef however and dont see it as wrong, the native americans considered the buffallo sacred but ate them because it gave them food--> life

Roma,

Let me see if I can give you my take on your statements:

Quote:What would you improve about hinduism? Is there even anything to improve for you?

It's the amongst the oldest religions on this planet if not the oldest and there's a million ofshoots of Santana Dharma. Improvements have come about in many shapes and forms. Unlike Christianity or Islam, any Thimma or Dhawan or Hari can actually go about 'improving' Hinduism in their own shapes and forms without fear or retribution from mullah or padre.

Quote:I would stop worship of unhiegynic and dangerous animals like rats and snakes.

Hinduism allows me the liberty to worship all creations of the supreme being. I can worship a pig if I like or I can worship a tree. If anyone else deems it 'unhygenic' or 'dangerous', it's their problem.

I can keep responding to bullshit when West has yet to come to terms of accepting bull shit's methane use.

Agnivayu: There are some here on the forum who conveniently find questionable sources and then pose innocent questions. And in a repeatable manner. Doing so completely ignoring thousands of links and post pointing to the contrary. We have to decide if they are adding to the discussion or diverting our attention from real issues at hand?

Roma, it's not a question of banning you. Guess that didn't deter previous avatars of this handle.

The questions is how come one conveniently comes up with all the missionary tactics of 'improving' Hinduism while with same face you call it 'mother of all religions'.

Stick around and learn before dishing out advice on who or how one should worship or not.
