Had some books that I've had listed in book thread - it has history of the various shennanigans they've pulled so far, firing 8 guys is small potatoes; respect for people like Shibu Soren, Lallu Yadav suddenly goes up when compared these guys.
In both case Al Sharpton and Rev. Jacksons involvement in very beginning. In Duke Case they were so active, now no noise from these two guys and other activist. There is so many similarties between them and Indian castist politicians who call themselves "Secular".

The Democrats capitulate in the Congress. The Bush machine had done a remarkable job of scaring the jeepers out of the majority held Congress. Nobody wants to bell the cat for want of appearing to be "anti-troops". Even folks at DailyKos are frustrated.
The closest topic I could find to this news is this thread, so here goes: (pls move if needed)
NPR interviewed someone in their Friday roundup who said that US soldiers in Iraq are "incensed" that the US is dragging its feet on admitting the promised 7000 per year Iraqi refugees. These refugees are people who help US soldiers and put their whole families at risk by doing so, but the US govt sees the actual admission of refugees as an admission of failure of their Iraq policy.
BTW some days ago a congressman who had been to Iraq told NPR that the help from the Sunnis that the US is getting in fighting AlQaida is not due to any proUS sentiments on part of the sunnis, but because AlQ attemts to force sharia on the areas it controls. He says they cut off fingers for smoking, and things like that make the sunnis (most of whom smoke) anti AlQ over there.
