Having arrived in Mumbai from London on July 5, 2006, Isaac Armstrong, professionally a computer expert, flew into Delhi on the night of the terrorist carnage on Western Railway. We happened to meet on the following day. Being half Jewish, he had interest in Islamic affairs and got talking without my posing many questions. The way to handle them is shown by Israel. In order to recover one abducted soldier, eight ministers and 20 legislators, including the Palestinian Deputy Prime Minister have been captured.
For the Lebanese seizing two soldiers, Israel has invaded their country. But for the strong will of its rulers, a small country like Israel could not have survived on the huge Arabian landmass. Mr Armstrong confessed that had they possessed the same will power earlier, the Nazis could not have slaughtered six million jews.
My interest was in Mumbai of July 11, for which Mr Armstrong had an unusual diagnosis to offer. He said that the carnage was a continuing conflict between sadists and masochists. <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>Islamists take relish in maiming people and bloodshed whereas the Hindu ruling class gets pleasure when pain is inflicted on its people. As an example, how else can one explain the Indian Prime Minister, in his first reaction, being worried about Lashkar-e-Tayyeba raising the tempo of communal violence?
Evidently what he had in mind was the fear of a Hindu backlash. The pain of those who suffered the bomb attack and the tragedy of the innocent killed was a lower priority. Home Minister Shivraj Patil was also concerned about the terrorists dividing the society.</span>
Mr Armstrong expressed the hope that Hindus will eventually change just as Jews did after World War II. Think of it, India has not taken a single preemptive or deterrent step against the terrorists even after Parliament was attacked. Contrast that with the US retaliation to 9/11 and the disappearance of terrorism from the American continent. It is the same story after the UK took steps on the morrow of 7/7<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>. Islamists continue their attacks because they interpret the signals from India as "you are welcome".</span>
Soon after meeting Mr Armstrong, I went to see a friend of mine whose name is Agha Anwar Mirza. His explanation was lucid. <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>The struggle is on to turn India into a dar-ul Islam where the writ of the sharia' would run. That would have happened earlier had there been no Partition. Undivided India would be already 40 per cent Muslim. Qaid-e-Azam Jinnah spoilt it all. By now a popularly elected sultan would have been ruling in Delhi.</span>
In answering my question, Mr Mirza said that a true Muslim cannot condemn what he perceives as a holy war. Not only in India, but also in many other countries, jihad is on; be it Chechnya in Russia, Kosovo in Serbia, Pattani in Thailand as well as for the southern islands of the Philippines. What about England, France, Holland, Scandinavia, the US? The reply was that shorn of details, true Muslims there would like sharia' to be the law applicable to their community. If that has not been declared as the objective, it could be for tactical reasons.
Why kill innocent Hindus? "That was to soften the will of the governments across India. Already you can see," Mr Mirza pointed out, <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>"that the Congress-led ministries are offering reservations to Muslims." According to him, the Hindu will is soft. Should not then we Hindus be worried? He said no. They were happy under Muslim rule for centuries. It is the British policy of divide and rule that made Hindus raise their head. Now that the white regime is over, the traditional Hindu-Muslim equation must be returned.</span>
Mr Mirza is a drawing room Marxist; he did his doctorate at Humboldt University in what was East Germany. He has a wide range of interests and thinks up a variety of theses. One of them is that the Hindu per se is not comfortable at governing. He is unconsciously on the look out for someone to hand over the reins of power. Be it the Mughals, the Lodhis and the other sultanates earlier, be it the British, be it the Nehru-Gandhis. Even the Kshatriyas lack the passion to rule. Look what Mr VP Singh did and what Mr Arjun Singh is doing now. They are all reluctant princes.
Mr Mirza took me back to the age of the Mahrathas. They had a glorious opportunity to fill the vacuum created by the decline and break up of the Mughal empire after Aurangzeb. Their armies had gone across to most parts of the sub-continent. Instead of establishing a permanent rule, they preferred to visit and revisit their territories merely to collect chauth or one-fourth revenue. "Were'nt they reluctant rulers?" he exclaimed.
When I encouraged him to go on, Mr Mirza's mind flew to Beijing - the favourite of many a Marxist. See, he said, how China dealt with Tibet and what New Delhi is doing in Kashmir. Did you know how Mao Zedong brought back the seceded Xinjiang into China in 1951, he asked. He invited all the political leaders of the then independent country for a friendly conference between neighbours. He sent an aeroplane to bring the guests to Beijing. They were wined and dined for several days and sent back in the same plane which, however, crashed on the way.
Two of the Xinjiang leaders, who had excused themselves from the conference on account of ill health, elevated themselves to power and declared that their country's merger with the People's Republic of China.
In sum,<b> Mr Mirza contended that rulers must not only know real politik, but also have the stomach for ruthless action. The least they need to practice is an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, the old Jewish adage which was openly adopted by Islam and implicitly put to use by Christian rulers.</b>
What the Marxist friend implied was that without this dose of deterrence, no government can govern. <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>For every citizen killer, the state government must claim at least test terrorist lives! </span>

Indian's been a model citizen in the global community and have for decades coopted with international community. Only after 9/11 others admitted (however grudgingly) that India's been at receiving end of terrorism.
Will an Indian soldier standing as a peacekeeper in Beruit or Lebanon reduce terrorists acts in India? I have no doubts that he'll be is far more effective patroling our borders and cities of India.
Unfortunately this time terrorists have got what they intended. People have terrorized, they don't know whether they will return alive anymore. Some near the site were shell shocked and couldn't remember things. For some reason, this time there has been maximum scare amongst the people. The effect has been both economical and psychological.
With peon of a prime minister in Delhi the aam junta will be commuting with their lives in their hands. Some cynics might argue this has been situation since the punjab terrorism. But things are lot different now. Soft image of India coupled with senseless minorityism and ill thought out reservation policies makes for perfect situation for terrorists to strike. With no will or wish by the so called government terrorists know they have nothing to worry about.
All in all, aam junta will die in vain for living in very unfortunate nation where the so called leaders have no cojones to even call spade a spade let alone rain bombs and missiles on the scums.

Fathom this: Within 3 hours of the blasts, long queues of blood donating
volunteers were seen outside various hospital, where most of the injured
were admitted. By the hospital had to issue a notification
that blood banks were full and they didn't require any more blood. The next
day, attendance at schools and office was close to 100%, trains & buses
were packed to the brim, the crowds were back.
The city has simply dusted itself off and moved one - perhaps with greater
vigor.
We are Mumbaikers and we live like brothers in times like this. So, do not
dare to threaten us with your crackers. The spirit of Mumbai is very strong
and can not be harmed.

But we cannot afford to tolerate anymore who do not understand or ready to acknowledge our original history and heritage, the proof of our right to our birth land. If some confused converted Muslims prefer to think they created Pakistan after independence by their converted Muslim identity that does not mean we will allow any further grabbing of our land through terrorism as a tactics. Kashmir is and will be Indian land if we look original Hindu heritage and history of India. It is pointless to debate anymore because historical facts cannot be changed by using converted identity as the tool of grabbing land. We must and should tell all Muslims who has Pan-Islamic agenda in their heart to immigrate to Muslim country so that rest of the Indians can live in peace and preserve our root of heritage. Indian has 10000 years of Hindu history and last few hundred of years history cannot change the identity of India, period. Thus we can motivate every Indian to love Indian Hindu heritage while eliminate every anti-national behavior which undermine national security and nation unity. Our unity can never be achieved by creating more disconnect from our original ancient history and heritage. We can never grow by cutting our root. We can remain diverse in language, ideas, art, music and many more ways. But that diversity does not mean we will allow outside influence to teach our people to disrespect our own Hindu civilization and heritage. The day we allowed outside influence to disrespect Hindu heritage, we started to become less united and less conscious. In Mumbai to address a Bharatiya Janata Party anti-terrorism public meeting, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday that "terrorists have no religion."
"Jihadi terrorism is not Islam. Jihadi terrorism is an international threat," the senior BJP leader insisted at a meeting to condemn the terrorist attacks in Mumbai last Tuesday that killed 200 people and left about 700 people injured.
In a speech that was more like a mature statesman and less like a firebrand right-wing politician -- the Press Trust of India reported that the Maharashtra state government had warned Modi not to make any 'objectionable' statement -- the senior BJP leader emphasised the need for strong laws to tackle terrorism.
"If you (the United Progressive Alliance government) cannot enact POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act), allow the states to do it," Modi said, adding that he had sent the proposal of a law for Gujarat on the lines of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act in 2004, and that Union Home Minister "Shivraj Patil has been sitting on it."
Modi pointed out that the United States -- which he called "the drum-beater of human rights" -- had introduced the Patriot Act, the Financial Anti-terrorism Act and the Homeland Security regime after 9/11, and that France and "even Japan" had enacted special laws to deal with terrorism.
Modi -- who was equated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and hailed as the only Indian leader to have fought terror by each and every speaker at the meeting from Maharashtra BJP unit chief Nitin Gadkari (second from left) to former Maharashtra deputy chief minister Gopinath Munde (fifth from left, beside Modi) -- questioned the UPA government's "will to fight terrorism."
The Gujarat chief minister insisted that POTA -- which the UPA government scrapped as soon as it came to power in 2004, saying the law was 'draconian' and a 'weapon' to target the minority community -- would boost the morale of the security forces, and send a message to the terrorists that the government was "serious about the serious issue."
"These people (the Congress-led UPA government) cannot send a strong signal to terrorists, let alone fight them," Modi thundered to rousing applause from the 3,000-strong crowd at the Shanmukhananda Auditorium.
He launched a scathing attack on what he called "five-star activists" and people "brought up with foreign values," saying, "they paint as communal whoever speaks up against terrorism."
Modi, dressed in all white, wondered when India would be "like Israel, where everyone has a fire inside him. A dream of fighting for the country."
His 90-minute speech also focused strongly on those killed in the terrorist attacks on Mumbai.
"I have come to Mumbai with a heavy heart," the chief minister during whose reign over 1,000 people were killed in the 2002 Gujarat riots began.

It was funny to see English news media raving and ranting on Modi's speech. One famous journalist was even feeling insulted on Modi's so called derision of <b>ManMohan Kaur</b>. One wonders if any of the Media personnel had their family members blown apart.
Moving around in an AC car and raving and ranting from posh offices doesn't really make them an expert on anything apart from being highly paid sycophants.
Let these pseudo intellectuals visit family members of victims and see for themselves devastation of this blast on hundreds of familiies.

The slogans set the tone for Monday evening's anti-terrorism public meeting at the Shanmukhananda Hall in Sion, northcentral Mumbai.
The shouts were accompanied with photographs of the Chhote Sardar -- the Gujarat chief minister, who is called that by Bharatiya Janata Party workers who equate him with one of the fathers of the modern Indian nation, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel -- being held aloft and "Bharat mata ki jai (Hail the Motherland)" reverberating louder with every television camera focus.
The first speaker at the auditorium that can seat roughly 3,000 people was Narendra Banjara, who said he was a patriotic poet.
"When Atalji (Bihari Vajpayee, then Indian prime minister) called (Pakistan President Pervez) Musharraf to Agra, we gave him a 21-gun salute. Pity none of the guns found their target," Banjara said, launching into singsong verse about obliterating Pakistan from the map. That was the most complimentary thing he said about India's nuclear neighbour.
Other highlights of Banjara's performance were calls for bans on missionaries and religious conversions and threats of hoisting the tricolour in Islamabad if Pakistan didn't stop dreaming about Kashmir.
When Modi almost quoted Nehru
Narendra Modi walked in at 7:28 pm and took the speaker's stand at 8:08 pm, both to standing ovations. His speech was a far cry from the vitriol he is reportedly infamous for. Instead there were padded jibes, un-named references and poignant silences.
<b>On terrorism </b>
Terrorism, Modi said, was worse than war. Because in war you have rules, you know who your enemy is, you take him on at a designated battleground, there are international laws to stop wars.
"The battle against terrorism is a battle for humanity," the Gujarat chief minister emphasised.
"Terrorism has crippled this country," he said, pointing at the northeast, at the corridor the Naxalites were building from "Pashupati (in Nepal) to Tirupati (in south India)" and there was "a concentrated effort from the time of Zia-ul Haq" to terrorise western India.
<b>"Till the day I am alive, I will hunt down the merchants of death one by one," </b>Modi declared to rock-star applause.<b> "My ideals are very clear," he added "Many leaders pat my back privately. They don't have the courage in public life." </b>
<b>On the Mumbai blasts </b>
<b>"The families who have lost their kin, I have come to give them faith," Modi, under whose reign the 2002 Gujarat riots happened, said. "To assure them that the blood of your son will not go in vain. How can the country forget innocent people's tears and screams?" </b>
Then came an almost Nehru-esque line about how those countries that forget their history cannot secure their future.
<b>Modi versus Manmohan </b>
<b>The country remembers Sardar (Patel). Now, we have another Sardar, Manmohan Singh, who declares in Mumbai that there was a Pakistani hand in the Mumbai blasts and when he reaches Delhi, says such small incidents should not come in the way of dialogue with Pakistan,"</b> Modi said, launching into a scathing attack on the Union government's act of repealing the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
At the prime minister's contention that POTA had not prevented the September 2002 terrorist attack on the Akshardham temple in Gujarat, Modi quipped: "Then tomorrow Lalu (Prasad Yadav, Union railway minister) will come and say people are travelling without tickets despite a law against it. Scrap that law."
POTA had helped hang the Akshardham terrorists, he reminded the audience that was in raptures, but the accused in the 1993 Bombay blasts were still unharmed.
<b>"Personally, I respect you (Dr Singh)," Modi added. "but are you serious about the serious issue of terrorism?" </b>
<b>Modi, the peacenik</b>
<b>Peace is nothing new. Maybe these electronic mediawallahs have just found out, but we (the BJP) have always been peaceful," Modi said, pointing out that there had been numerous attacks on religious processions like the Amarnath Yatra and places like the Akshardham temple, without any retaliation.
"You must have a fire inside to fight for the truth," </b>he added.

When Ishrat Jahan, a resident of Mumbra near Mumbai, was killed by the Gujarat police, human rights actvists had painted her as a martyr and one politician had given Rs 100,000 to her family, Modi said. Three days later, he said, a Lashkar-e-Tayiba mouthpiece publication had hailed Jahan as a martyr.
<b>"Where were your secret cameras then?" Modi demanded, an apparent reference to sting operations on Indian news television channels. "I don't talk much," he added, after the applause died down. "I don't believe in wasting headline space." </b>
<b>On the Manmohan Singh government </b>
Modi pointed fingers at a <b>Congress ally in Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam, alleging that the organisation was mentioned in a chargesheet against the Students Islamic Movement of India</b>.
He alleged that the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom had campaigned for the Congress party in Assam.
<b>He charged that in the Bihar election, an Osama bin Laden lookalike had been paraded to garner votes. He said a Coimbatore blast accused had been freed to contest elections.

All the speakers praised Modi. As the only leader who had fought terrorism.
The Gujarat chief minister acknowledged the praise, saying that in Assam, every village he went to had urged him to speak about the Bangladeshi immigrant problem.

It is worth reminding that it was this tinder that set the matchbox on fire in Jan 1993, something for which Shiv-Sena is fraudulently blamed.
Azmi is also on record of having boasted ââHindustan ke chaahein haarazoon tukde hoo jaine; par Islam ko in kafiroon ke haathon se baachaa na hainââ (may India get divided into thousand states, but islam must be protected from these infidels). This utterance was caught again on camera during a public meeting he took in Mastan talao in Mumbai on February 24th year 2000. This issue of hate and subversive speech was diverted by home minister Chagan bhujbal when he issued warrant against Thakre and thus diverted the entire media attention from the real issue. (Congress-NCP government was in minority and required Samajwadi partyâs vital support and therefore was placating Azmi).
Further, Azmi in active alliance with Memon is trying to occupy the role of Defender of Faith in civil society. This alliance was able to get <b>the culprits of the Ghatkopar and Mulund bombings (2002, 2003) acquitted. </b>To add further annoyance, cops (Daya Nayak, Sharma etc) who shot Khwaja Yunus (key Jihadi in this bombing) in an encounter are facing charges of murder slapped on them by this duo.
Azmi was also the main instigator of briefly spread media-rumour that Ishrat Jahaan was an innocent victim abducted by barbarious Gujarat Police in Mumbra and encounter 3 days later in Gujarat. He not only was successful in placing this lie in the morning headline but also single-handedly created an explosive situation in Mumbra(do i need to say more) during Ishratâs Funeral. His favourite issue before the bhiwandi riots was Bashir Ahmedâs case of Mumbai Haj House fame, indulging in similarly proven antics of muslim innocence and cop conspiracy. To top it all, his super secular boss Mulayam has pious notions about SIMI.
He also claims to be an entrepreneur operating a travelling agency (you know, making passports and documents so that you may travel abroad). He also has a business division that ârecruits candidates from Mumbai and sends them to Gulfâ (you know, things like finding appropriate candidates, interviewing, shortlisting and then getting their documents prepared so that they may travel abroad). Actually I was shocked that Modi, the future/hope of Hindus, would say something this ignorant. It is one thing for Spineless or the italian or Dubya to say this. Dubya's ignorance is understandable. Lashkar-e-Qahar, the terrorist group that claimed responsibility for the Mumbai train bombings, warned on Tuesday that it was planning attacks against government and historic sites in India in an e-mail to a news television station.
Lashkar-e-Qahar said in the e-mail that 16 people took part in the July 11 attacks in Mumbai, and that one of them was killed.
But "all the remaining 15 mujahideens are totally safe, and celebrating the success of this mission and also preparing for the next mission," the e-mail said.
"We also request all the Muslim brothers and sisters not to go near the main historical, governmental and the monumental places of India (especially in Delhi and Mumbai) in future," the e-mail said."Otherwise, they get hurt too."

BAHRAICH: A treason case against SIMI national president Shahid Badra Falahi and others in a fast-track court here has been adjourned to July 20 due to objections over UP's Samajwadi Party government's order to drop charges.
Objecting to withdrawal of the case, Adhivakta Vikas Chetna Manch district president Bhagwan Bux Singh moved an application, seeking impleadment, arguing that the government's order led to the prosecution and accused becoming one for the purpose of votebank politics.
Singh and five other lawyers feared the government's order was likely to create communal disharmony by hurting religious sentiments and would aid forces of sedition. The application withdrawing the case, therefore, needed to be opposed, Singh argued.
The Mulayam government has withdrawn the treason case against Falahi vide its order number 26-21-WC-7 Nyay 5-2006/10 W C10-14-WC-2004.
The document was signed by Bahraich's district magistrate and also has an application by the district government counsel. Falahi, who is out on bail after spending 30 months in jail, was arrested after an inflammatory speech at Sir Syed Girl's College.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
