JAIPUR: The Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities, Tarlochan Singh, on Saturday called upon the minority communities to discard the habit of criticising democratically elected governments with constant complaints of "perceived discrimination.'' He said the fear psychosis created among the minorities would harm them in the long run.
Mr. Singh was interacting with reporters during his visit to attend a function of the Sikh Sangat here. [/size]He said minorities had no right to denounce the elected governments as the latter had the people's mandate in their favour. "Holding the Government or the ruling party responsible for communalism in the society is improper,'' he said.[/size]
Mr. Singh â who is also a Rajya Sabha MP â pointed out that an elected government was answerable to the people at large irrespective of who voted for it and a Chief Minister was duty-bound to fulfil the aspirations of the entire population of the State. It would be preposterous to question the sincerity of the Government, he said.
The Minorities Commission chief said he had led a delegation of Muslims that met the Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, in the aftermath of violence in 2002, when Muslims had announced boycott of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Government. <b>The grievances of the community were settled in a "congenial atmosphere'' with his intervention.</b>
On the observations of the Prime Minister's high-level committee that visited Rajasthan recently to study the socio-economic and educational status of Muslims, Mr. Singh said he did not find any atmosphere of fear, distrust or terror among Muslims in the State.

As feared, the 477 children "rescued" amid media hype by <b>Mumbai-based NGO
Pratham</b>, in coordination with the labour department of Delhi Government, have landed up in juvenile homes.

Failing to put together a rehabilitation plan for the children and unable
to bear the cost of food and lodging, Pratham on Sunday sent the children to 11
observation homes spread across the city. These homes mainly house juvenile
delinquents.

But in the case of these unfortunate 'rescued' children, there is neither
a first information report (FIR) against them nor their employers from whose
premises they were rescued. They have been sent to Sewa Kutir run by the Delhi
Government, Prayas and Deepalaya, run by NGOs.

These children would now be in the company of those incarcerated there on
various criminal charges under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). In a related
development, Pratham has sacked its volunteers who were assigned the task to
carry out the rescue operation. The step has been taken, sources said, following
adverse media reports.

The Pioneer had carried a report in its front page titled-Lure of UN funds
drives NGO to rescue kids- which revealed that rather than concern for the
rehabilitation of the children, utilisation of UN funds prompted the raids. The
report also pointed out that neither the government nor the NGO that carried out
the raids had an answer about the rehabilitation plan of these children.

Sources in the labour department said that the government had already
placed a task force under divisional commissioner GK Marwah to carry such raids.
"In this case, the labour department and NGO did not consult the task force
prior to the raids. The entire exercise was done without proper planning," said
the source.

"The rescued children would now be required to depose before the child
welfare committee of the Delhi Government after which a decision would be taken
on their rehabilitation," said a Delhi government official.

"But one thing is clear, rehabilitation process under Child Labour Act
would be impossible. The NGO is running away from its responsibility. The Child
Welfare Committee (CWC) will hand over these children to their parents," the

Sandeep Pandey's ASHA is on another fund raising mission in USA presently, with their monkey troop Indian Ocean. Members beware, and spread the word.
I have gathered the following details on ASHA (a lot is already available on AID at http://www.aidindia.info/).
Asha was founded by Dr. Sandeep Pandey, as a frontal fund collecting NGO which further disburses funds to several other nodal NGO projects in India. Asha claims to be an apolitical, for-democracy and secular NGO. However in reality, the ideologies and leaders of ASHA are strongly leftist with pro-Marxist and pro-Communist loyalties. ASHA works closely with the Forum of Indian Leftists (FOIL) and arranges numerous political events together with them both in India and USA. Asha's leadership - especially its founder and chairman Dr Pandey have been actively promoting anti-Democracy, anti-USA, anti-globalization, anti-semitic, anti-Hindu, pro-militancy, pro-radical-islamist efforts in India. They actively oppose US-India cooperation on all fronts - strategic, security, nuclear, cultural, industrial.
It is ironic that 100% of their funds come from USA, and they very cleverly use those fund to tacitly preparing the ground work for the anti-USA and anti-Indo-US-cooperation efforts. All their fund-raising is done in disguise of harmless events such as music concerts, and for declared goal of basic education in India. While collecting funds, they obviously try to distance themselves from political leanings, and would go extra-lengths to prove their non-political credentials. The Madras Mylapore Archbishop, A.M. Chinnappa, had recently distanced himself from these bishops, saying that Catholic bishops had to be appointed by the Pope and that these robed men did not fall into that category. He had also warned people against being taken in by such self-styled bishops.
<b>The archbishop's statement received a sharp response from the Independent Churches of India association, which objected to his suggestion that the bishops belonging to independent churches were frauds. The association claimed that proper procedures were followed in the appointment of its bishops.</b>

Over the last two months, at least three cases have been registered against four bishops of the Moulin Mission Trust in Mahabalipuram, near Chennai, the Calvary Mission Trust in Vellore and the Hallelujah Full Gospel Missionaries of India, Chennai, by the Tamil Nadu police. <b>It started with priest Anandaraj of the Moulin Mission Trust, who was arrested by the Mahabalipuram police for allegedly swindling over Rs 10 crores from contractors by collecting earnest money deposits from them after promising them orders for construction of houses for tsunami victims and the poor. Priest Job Saravanan of the Calvary Mission Trust is absconding although the police arrested his associates. He is accused of swindling people of over Rs 20 crores using the same modus operandi.</b>
<b>The police arrested priest Joseph Solomon of the third church for cheating the public of Rs 7.5 crores. His associate, Sathyaseelan, another bishop, has escaped to the United States, according to the police. The operations of these self-appointed bishops are spread throughout South India, the police say.</b>
Bishop Dr M. Prakash, founder of Independent Churches of India, when contacted, said the bishops involved in these cases were not members of the association. "They have brought shame to the independent churches," he said.
Bishop Prakash said he had been trying to bring all independent churches in the state under one umbrella for the last three years. He defined independent churches as those separate from the established ones, like the Catholic Church. "It is time for the independent church to have a common code of conduct by which the members will have to abide. The constitution will be goal-oriented," he said. "I am in touch with the heads of all independent churches. We will meet soon and will make a constitution for the functioning of such churches," he added.
He claimed that 60 per cent of the Christian community in the state were members of independent churches and did not belong to Catholic or CSI churches.<b> "We have around 1,500 independent churches in Tamil Nadu and all over the country the number of such churches may be more than 40,000. Yes, among them there are a few black sheep. Those who are involved in fraudulent activities are making use of social welfare projects to achieve their ends</b>. No bishop will to do something to harm others," said Bishop Prakash, who has been running the SISWA Mission Trust in Anna Nagar in the city for the last 30 years. It is mainly involved in religious activities. According to him there is no uniformity in belief among the independent churches, which comprise various sects whose beliefs differ from those of the established churches.
