there was another newsreport about this that i read and it said that the IHF drew flak for choosing Lucknow as the camp before Champions Trophy.
It also said that India lacks a flood-lit astro turf. If it is true, i am saddened and ashamed that this is the case with our NATIONAL sport.

' /> .The only reason I can think of for holding camp in the Lucknow is the SAHARA factor.August is the worst of all months in that part of the country and the astro turf at Dhayan chand stadium was in tatters when I saw it last but that was 6-7 years ago probably they have fixed it since.
I read the news about lack of flood lit facilities in India and was a bit surprised by that.I remember watching a tournament on TV around 5 years ago where the games were played under artificial lights I guess it was in Bangalore but cant recall the exact details right now .

yeah, i would say its only the Sahara factor for the choice of Lucknow as the camp.
In fact, i have been to the Guru Gobind Singh Sports College, which has the Dhyan Chand Stadium in it, and when i was there, 2 years ago, they were in the process of putting brand new turf in the stadium.
Its a pretty beautiful stadium, and i think the UP Government should consider putting lights in it.

Is it true? I remember Johnny Lever joke that we are world champs in this since no one else plays this. Would really like to know of the countries who'll be competing.
An American friend mentioned that they have something similar called 'pool tag' - seems like kabbadi played in water.
