BHUBANESWAR, August 24: The state unit of the BJP and its ministers in particular came under severe fire from their own affiliates over the failure of the government to protect VHP leader Laxmanananda Saraswati who along with five others were shot dead in Kandhamal district yesterday.
Several fronts of like the Hindu Jagaran Samukhya demanded resignation of the BJP ministers, and the DGP Mr Gopal Nanda. The BJPâs attempt to assuage such feelings by reluctantly agreeing to support the VHP sponsored Orissa bandh call tomorrow failed to break the ice.
Bajrang Dal and VHP activists poured out their anger today against BJP ministers. What are these BJP ministers doing who get votes due to us they said. They enjoy all the benefits, live in luxury and fail to protect leaders like Laxmananandaji who had repeatedly pleaded for his security, asked angry the activists here today.
Barely 12 hours prior to the ghastly attack, Laxmanananda Saraswati had informed the police administration of a threat letter received by him. Yet the BJD-BJP government failed to act, they decried.
We will take to the streets if these ministers do not resign immediately, declared the younger elements in the Sangh Parivar.
The co-convener of Bajrang Dal, Mr Subash Chouhan was visibly seething in anger as he arrived here from Raipur. "The state government has failed and to cover up its failure it has started blaming the Maoists," he charged.
Questioning the very existence of the government he listed out innumerable instances of attack and threats on Laxamananda Saraswati over the last one year.
Mr Chouhan, known to be a firebrand leader, took pot shots at the reactions that had come in from various quarters.
"When the unfortunate killing of Graham Staines took place, there was an international outrage, but ironically now when Laxamananda Saraswati and four of his disciples are gunned down, even those who owe their political careers to the VHP shy away from reacting strongly lest they may lose their âjobâ" said Mr Chouhan. He was implicitly referring the ministerial berths occupied by the BJP.
Mr Ashok Sahu, president of the Hindu Jagaran Samukhya condemned the BJD-BJP government for trying to cover up the murder by blaming the Maoists. "The Maoist facades is being deliberately used to protect the real culprits and to terrorise the public," he alleged. Mr Sahu said that he suspected it to be the handiwork of a militant religious minority.
Rejecting the judicial probe ordered by the state government, Mr Sahu said: "We have had enough judicial inquiries. The government is in no position to order anything, it has lost its morale right to govern and a CBI probe needs to be ordered".
"The militants behind the killing had held a meeting at Raikia on 9 August and had conspired to eliminate the VHP leader," he alleged.
"The VHP leader was actively opposing cow slaughter and conversion in the region," he said while recalling the violent incident over a cow slaughter that had taken place last month in the same area where he was killed yesterday.
Reliable sources said that the BJP was initially reluctant to come out openly in support of tomorrowâSs Orissa bandh. It was apprehensive of incurring the wrath of chief minister Mr Naveen Patnaik but pressure from the highest levels in the VHP and Bajrang Dal ranks forced the BJP to issue a statement supporting the bandh, said these sources.

Interestingly the Hindu Holocaust is also occurring in the US in a different manner.
I have a client who over the years has become a close friend. This man is a religious Hindu and a very prominent business owner. This man has done extremely well and he's sheltered his kids and has tried to instill strong Dharmic values in his kids.
Anyway his daughter went to college and one day she came home and said that she had met a guy and that she wanted to marry him. In any case, this guy is a gora and he's an evangelical christist from Alabama - real rabid type. Anyway, her father (my close associate) isn't too happy, but he respects his daughter's wishes and they fix a date for the wedding. Then the funny stuff starts happening - first the daughter states that she doesn't want a Hindu wedding. Parents say OK. Then she says that her fiance' doesn't want Indian food at the wedding. Parents say OK. After a few weeks, the daughter comes in totally depressed with a nervous breakdown. The parents admit her to the ER and after a couple days the daughter says that her fiance' has called off the wedding because the bride's family family (my associate) has not accepted christ! He says that he will only agree to marry my friend's daughter unless she turns over her multi-milion dollar trust fund to a large evangelical mission. My friend called me at 1 AM one morning and he asks to meet me at my office. He then proceeds to tell me that his daughter has threatened to kill herself if he doesn't turn over all her trust-fund money to this charity.
In the end, my friend pays up. What can he do?
This is absolutely fucking unbelievable. The sick part is when I saw this christist guy, he has to be one of the most unimpressive individuals I have ever seen. My friend's daughter looks like a Priyanka Chopra. She's stunning. The thing that boiled my blood was that after my friend turned over his daughter's $2.5 million dollar trust to this evangelical group, this evangelical guy had the gall to ask for a trip to Hawaii!!!!
I know of one other instance where a family friend whose daughter got sucked in by an evangelical group on campus. She got baptized and then she also turned over her trust fund to mother ghoul of calcutta. Her trust was in the amount of $600K.
I cannot verify this statement but one Hindu guy has told me that evangelical groups have a database of rich non-christians - Jews, Buddhists, and especially Hindus and that they specifically use men and women to ensnare the poor dumb impressionable children and get them to extort money out of their families. Obviously, this tactic doesn't work on Muslims. They are way too strong.
I have some close Jewish friends who tell me that there are many Jewish men and women who end up marrying evangelicals and giving up their Jewish faith.
So sad. This is too much. We are absolutely losing the battle.

This has definitely yielded good results for him, but what he doesn't seem to understand is that even white roman catholics (position #3) can't seem to break into the Presidency. How will piyush "mowgli" jindal break into the #1 spot on the white christist caste structure? This is the only way for governor Mowgli to further his career. Well, he has several options:

(So many things. None of which involved giving in to the emotional blackmail by christoterrorism. For example, the parents could have threatened suicide in retaliation unless she broke of the wedding - coupled with leaving the trust to some Dharmic charity of course - and see if the estranged daughter actually cared about them or only about christoterrorism.)

People should remember they are responsible for the offspring/spawn they bring into the world. The above Hindu families are setting wolves on the unconverted world despite their inept best intentions. I hold them personally responsible for enabling this. Natural Traditionalists should start realising that christoislamism is no different from nazism, in fact it is far worse: it murdered and murders even now more people than nazism ever did PLUS it is not even being censured for its vileness thanks to dawaganda/brainwashing in its favour. (Actually, nazism is a subset of christianism's atrocities. Should have picked a better example.)
The parents in the above case obviously don't know christianism: their daughter when she converted to christoterrorism became a liar/drama queen/ruthless blackmailer for jeebusjehovallah and so her parents fell for her little playacting. She played them like a harmonica. Sadly, more than her parents will be made to pay up.
Since the daughter's now just another christoterrorist, the terrorism has put its foot into their family now, following closely that missionary's PhD mentioned here on IF on How To Convert Urban Hindus.

I know one couple where the boy's side tried pulling similar stunt on a very quite-meek-looking girl, pushing for baptize/convert etc. The girl didn't commit and played wish washy for long and as true follower for Lakshmi/Saraswati/Parvati/Durga/Kali/.. at very very last minute said no deal.
Within a year of marriage, those pushy in-laws were shown the door (literally) and I see her xtian guy doing 'idol-worship' in our local temple <!--emo&

Widespread anger was expressed throughout the State over the brutal killing of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and four of his associates.
The VHP and Bajrang Dal activists burned tyres and blocked traffic in different parts of the State to ventilate their anger on the failure of the police to give protection to Swamji. He had lodged an FIR on the local police station that his life was under threat and had sought police protection. Within 26 hours of lodging the complaint, he and his disciples were killed at Jalespata Ashram under Tumudibandh block in Kandhamal district on Saturday night.
Fearing a backlash, the Kandhamal district administration clamped curfew in Phulbani town and prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC throughout the district. All borders of the district were sealed. However, defying the orders, disciples of the Swami took out the Swami's funeral procession to another ashram at Chakapada, which is nearly 100 km away from Jalespata Ashram. More than 10,000 mourners reportedly accompanied the funeral procession. The funeral procession went through Jalespata, Tumudibandh, Paramapanka, Baataguda and reached Baliguda at 3 pm. It was supposed to go through Nuaagaan, Sarangagada, Phiringia, Bisipada Chhak and Tikabali to reach his Karmabhumi Chakapada late in night.
The people bid farewell to the departed souls with tears. People in Baliguda could not control their emotions and they even attacked the police and burnt a number of vehicles. Police had to resort to a mild lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. Reports reaching Bhubaneswar said the people were dead against the police inaction.
VHP activists allegedly burnt down a Marshal jeep OR 07 G 5882 carrying Sisters at G Udayagiri. The Sisters were allowed to leave the vehicle, said sources. Similarly, hundreds of supporters of Swamiji were moving to Tumudibandh with agitated mood, where his body was kept for last darshan.
In order to save its face, the district administration suspended the officer-in-charge of the Tumudibandh Police Station. However, it did not calm the anger of local people. They demanded that action should be taken against the District Collector and the SP. "Swamji had himself lodged the FIR. But the district administration could not react promptly to protect the precious lives," said Sudarshan Bhoi, a local of Tumudibandh area.
Reacting over the issue, the VHP and the Bajrang Dal have called for a dawn-to-dusk Orissa bandh. The BJP State unit has announced to support the bandh. In a bid to avoid further violence, the Government has ordered closure of all schools and colleges on Monday.
In order to take stock of the situation, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday morning convened a high-level meeting at the State Secretariat. "All efforts would be made to arrest the culprit," he said, adding that additional police force has been mobilised and combing operation is on to nab the culprit. Police sources said 20 platoons of police force and four companies of CRPF have been mobilised to the spot.
Patnaik also ordered a judicial probe into the incident and announced that Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia would be given to the next of kin of the deceased.
The situation in the tribal dominated Kandhamal district "is tense but under control" after the killing of the VHP activists last night by unidentified attackers, Kandhamal District Collector Krishan Kumar claimed.
Meanwhile, a small thatched structure used as a prayer house was set afire by unidentified persons late on Saturday night at Tentulijhari in Sundargarh district, Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Pranabindu Acharya said.
The police have arrested Pradesh Kumar Das, an employee of the World Vision, a Christian Charity, from Khadagpur while escaping from the district at Buguda. In another drive, two other persons Vikram Digal and William Digal have been arrested from the house of Lal Digal, a local militant Christian, from Nuasahi at Gunjibadi, Nuagaan. They have admitted to having joined a group of 28 other assailants.

For the archbishop of Cuttack-Bubaneshwar, whose priests have had to flee mobs of fanatics roaming around looking for Christians, the Cross has set deep roots in Orissa. âThe Church,â he said, âwill be the light for generations to come in Orissa.â (Hindus do not need churches that are busy in converting Hindus forcefully!)
Mgr Raphael Cheenath, Verbite, archbishop of Cuttack-Bubaneshwar (Orissa), described to AsiaNews the situation of the faithful under his care after two days of attacks by radical Hindus against churches, social and pastoral centres, parishes and convents. âFather Thomas, director of our pastoral centre, is hiding in the forest,â the archbishop said. âFrom there, tears in his eyes and sorrow in his heart, he saw it go up in smoke. Just before the attack he phoned me and I told him: âPray and be vigilant.â But when he saw mobs of people coming towards the centre he had to flee for his life. The pastoral centre had cost more than 15 million rupees.â
The new wave of destructions comes in the wake of the assassination of radical Hindu leader Swami Laxanananda last Saturday (23 August), which was blamed on Christians.
âWe Christians refuse violence. We condemn every act of violence and terrorism. But we are also against taking the law into our own hands,â said the bishop. (Then why Christians attacked Swamiji so many times? Swamiji was attacked 8 times in his life before his assassination!)
âAs soon as we heard about Swami Laxamananda Saraswatiâs assassination I issued a public statement strongly condemning the dastardly attack and murders. I called on everyone to remain peaceful and in harmony. We want relations of friendship with all communities.â
News of more violence are still coming in from around the dioceseâa chapel torched in Sundergarh, a van owned by nuns burnt in G. Udayagir, etc.
âWe feel totally abandoned. This morning the authorities sent three policemen to watch over the nunsâ convent and the bishopâs residence. But they donât even have a stick to protect us from the fury of the mob!â
For Monsignor Cheenath anti-Christian (and anti-Muslim) violence is rooted in the ideology that developed around the RSS (which inspires other fanatical groups linked to the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party).

Fiery protest in State
PHULBANI/BERHAMPUR: A youth at Rupagaon in Kandhmal district was critically injured when a mob set him ablaze after pouring petrol on him.
In Tikabali of the district a woman was set ablaze by an angry mob . As many as 40 churches in Tikabali and Baliguda were ransacked.
Irate mobs set on fire a number of houses of pastors and fathers and members of Christian community as the ambulance carrying the body of Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati reached Phulbani town at 6 am on tuesday.
In some places police had to resort to lathi-charge to disperse unruly crowds. After the lathi-charge, a mob gheraoed RDC (southern division) Satyabrata Sahoo and Collector Kisan Kumar for an hour.
Due to the volatile situation, curfew, which was relaxed after 8 am, was reimposed at 11.30 am for an indefinite period in the town while prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC has been clamped in the entire district.
For maintaining law and order six companies of CRPF and 24 platoons OSAP have been deployed. Also IG (Intelligence) R.P.Singh, IG S.S.Hansda, DIG (Operations) Arun Sarangi and RDC (southern division) Satyabrata Sahu are camping here and keeping a close watch on the situation.
The bandh was spontaneous and total in southern districts with road communication being snapped throughout Kandhamal, Gajapati, Rayagada, Ganjam districts. Trees were felled and tyres burnt at many places to block the roads.
Bandh was âtotalâ in Berhampur. Even makeshift tea-shops remained closed. At Gosaninuagaon a group of Bajrang Dal activists were attacked by locals. As the activists left their motorcycles and fled the spot, some miscreants set them afire.
Ten houses, a tractor and a jeep were torched at Tikabali while two houses were damaged in Baliguda in Kandhamal district. Even a police jeep was set afire at Khajuripada.
In Jirang in Gajapati district, a church, a generator and two motorcycles were torched. Amid tight police security the mortal remains of Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati were given âsamadhiâ at the garden of his ashram at Chakapad on monday evening. Praveen Togadia, international general secretary of VHP, attended the last rites of the Swami.
Angry activists of VHP and Bajrang Dal set afire Padampur church and two houses, barely 200 metres from the police station, at about 11 am forcing police to teargas them during the VHP-sponsored bandh in the district. The protesters initially assembled before the church and set ablaze a police jeep.
They also roughed up a journalist accusing the fraternity of publishing misleading reports. Although fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot, they failed to do much as the protesters deflated the tyres as the police looked helpless. The day began with members of the Saffron brigade blocking NH-6 passing through the district.
Similar reports of vandalism have also been received from Madhupur Missionary Orphanage under Sohela police limits where irate supporters ransacked the chamber of the resident father even as sources said that the terrorised inmates fled the orphanage.
Sources said the agitators damaged statue of Mother Mary and the ladies hostel of the school. Apart from that angry protesters burnt down a prayer hall in Ghadghadimal under Gaiselet block, burnt Bible in Gourpada under Gobhaga police limits and set on fire an abandoned Catholic church in village Bisipali between Bargarh and Sohela along NH-6.
Bargarh SP Ashok Biswal said police were holding dialogue with the protesters at Padampur when some unruly elements began pelting stones and set afire the police jeep.
A Roman Catholic cemetery was damaged by an irate mob in Sambalpur town. The security forces resorted to lathicharge to disperse an unruly mob when the latter began pelting stones at the Oriya Baptist Church near G M College.
Reports of burning of a mobike belonging to a pastor Pravakar Munna, ransacking of a prayer house in Chiplima and attempt to attack a mission institution were also received from Baraipali.
With sporadic violence the Orissa bandh called by VHP on Monday was âtotalâ in Balasore district. All the business establishments, government offices, patrol pumps and educational institutions remained closed.
Production in some of the factories was hampered as bandh activists prevented the entry of employees and workers. Works inside the defence installations at Chandipur were also paralysed as vehicles carrying scientists and technicians were forced to return.

He says that he will only agree to marry my friend's daughter unless she turns over her multi-milion dollar trust fund to a large evangelical mission. My friend called me at 1 AM one morning and he asks to meet me at my office. He then proceeds to tell me that his daughter has threatened to kill herself if he doesn't turn over all her trust-fund money to this charity.
In the end, my friend pays up. <b>What can he do?</b>
