Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-17-2012 Our Struggle - Hindu Samhati in upcoming State Assembly Election It is great to state yet again that the stupendous success of 3 rd Anniversary of Hindu Samhati on April 14, 2011at Raja Subodh Mallik Square has intensified the ongoing struggle of procuring Hindu identity to a large extent. But itââ¬â¢s also true, at the same instant, that presence of a strong 20,000 crowd in the assemblage would do no justice to our success. On the contrary, success depends upon the number of Hindus motivated by us to struggle for own identity and sanctity of Dharma. We are giving a clarion call to members of Hindu Samhati ââ¬â they must keep a close eye on whether the leadership remains busy with organizing programs or making preparation for newer struggles on the whole. Our programs should not turn into insensible rituals but podium of newer struggles, getting more and more common these days. We are declaring with conviction ââ¬â struggle to defend self-worth and right of Hindus in Bengal is imminent. And those who want to steer clear of the struggle, exodus remains the only option for them. We are making strong efforts to make HS members realize that any such exodus is disgraceful and also expresses an impotent viewpoint only. It is better to die in the battlefield than to flee from it as cowards. In the year 1947 Bengali Hindus did take flight instead of waging a battle to save own dignity and right. But the reason was something different. Bengali Hindus were not cowards but they couldnââ¬â¢t fight owing to the absence of such a pledge. Any such decision is adopted by the leadership only and Hindu leaders in 1947 betrayed call of the time. As far as communists are concerned, Pakistan was a welcome option for them as it was destined to save Hindu and Muslim peasantry from the age-old oppression of Hindu landlords. But the same communists were the first in the list of evacuees. A few of them are Jyoti Basu, Pramod Dasgupta, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Biman Basu. The then Congress was more vociferous against the partition of India. It was stated that MK Gandhi would apply the same tactics of non-cooperation, non-violence and hunger-strike against partition as he did against the British Raj. Till 14 th June of 1947 (on the same day the Congress Working Committee adopted the resolution for undivided Indiaââ¬â¢s partition and Mr. Gandhi too supported it by delivering a speech of 1 hour) Hindus were deceived entirely and the formal partition took place within a span of next 2 months. On account of all these, Hindus didnââ¬â¢t get the time to have its own struggling leadership instead of then betrayers. The fate of Bengali Hindus was thus sealed and the same tradition continues still in West Bengal. Photographs of such betrayers are respected still in offices of political parties dominating the Bengal scenario and hence, there is the need of a new leadership, potent enough to motivate Bengali Hindus to become warriors. Now itââ¬â¢s essential to study the upcoming state assembly election in West Bengal based on the aforementioned analysis. No political party would ever come forward to save dignity and right of Bengali Hindus or make them true warriors but all of them, without a single exception, have already succumbed to the Jihadi imperialism. What is our role in such a situation? We would have to opt for tactical voting. No political party is dear and near to us. Each one is busy in appeasing Muslims ruining the Hindus over and over and as a result, none should be supported once and for all. HS cadres must realize that tactical voting remains one of the greatest weapons of the Muslim community and there would surely be no difference at this time too. Muslims would go for 100% tactical voting and one of their religious leaders has already said that the community would support Mamata Banerjee to teach CPIM a lesson. But if itââ¬â¢s necessary they would also dump Mamata Banerjee in future. However, it is not clear still who would the next option be after Mamata. We have got confirmations from classified sources that Muslims would make up their own political party within a short period of crowning Mamata and would start demanding their own rights with full might. Surely there would be no dearth of money. Necessary arms and ammunitions would be rendered by the ISI and the Muslim community is ever on the rise. Once this scheme gets victorious, their next step would be to make India a dar-ul-islam. Tactical voting remains the best way to call all these a halt and Bengali Hindus must go for the same strategy. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-17-2012 Our Struggle ââ¬â Rule of Law and Bakri Id It is proved yet again that the Muslim society in the Indian state of West Bengal doesnââ¬â¢t have any reverence for the law of the land. It has also been proved whether the government of West Bengal can implement the ruling of High Court on the same Muslim community. We are not in need of evidence any more. It is already known to us ââ¬â how much Muslims revere the Indian laws, respect Hindu rituals and tradition, how government and administration cope with the simply unjust demands of the Muslim community, and what is the real role of appeasing political parties in this context. We know all these very well and Hindu Samhati is committed to putting an end to such discrimination and injustice. It is worthwhile to mention that the Honââ¬â¢ble Calcutta High Court, prior to the last Bakri Id, issued a declaration terming slaughtering of cows on account of Bakri Id as illegitimate. The hearing of the lawsuit took place thanks to the writ petition (W.P. No. 1378 of 2010) filed by Avijit Das, Secretary of Amtala Nagarik Adhikar Raksha Samity (Civil Rights Defence Council of Amtala), in the Division Bench of Chief Justice J.N. Patel and Justice Ashim Kumar Roy. In accordance with the declaration dated 12 November, 2010, under the aegis of the two Honââ¬â¢ble Justices, no slaughtering of cows, as part of any ritual, on the day of Bakri Id can be performed. It has also been stated distinctly, Honââ¬â¢ble Supreme Court of India has also issued the same ruling. We got the copy of the ruling by the evening of 12 November and without losing time, distributed its Xerox copies among HS activists to submit all those to local police stations. Bakri Id was on 17 November and in the interim, HS workers submitted copies to all police stations across the state and also to higher officials in a war-like effort and exerted strong pressure on the local administration to bring slaughtering of cows to an end. There was success as well and in a few places, slaughtering was stopped. But in the other places, the tradition of slaughtering cows did happen as usual sticking to the procedure of halal. And in all these cases the local police and administration was found to be the best accomplice of the Muslim community. The one and only reason (in this regard) being police is afraid of thrashing by Muslims more than the ruling of Honââ¬â¢ble Calcutta High Court. The entire police force in West Bengal is being routed by Muslims and there canââ¬â¢t be any counter-offensive as well. And the reason behind this is not hard to see. Both leading political parties in West Bengal, CPM and Trinamool Congress, are unanimous in this respect; Muslims have become dearer and nearer to them by now. Hence, not a single approach against them shall be tolerated ever. In Deganga, even the military didnââ¬â¢t dare to fire. What can police do then? Katwa in Burdwan district in West Bengal, major witness to astounding developments, can be taken as a prime example. The village of SriSurura (Suddo), adjacent to Katwa, is inhabited by a populace comprising 90% Hindus and 10% Muslims. The village never witnessed cow slaughter in the past on occasion of Id. Nonetheless, at this time, no less than 80-90 Muslims of the village insisted on slaughtering of cows. Whatââ¬â¢s more, announcing that there would be Kurbani they also brought a cow in the village. The entire Hindu community was strongly opposed to all these. As a result, they submitted memorandum to both S.D.O. and O.C. containing signatures of 1014 Hindus on November 4. O.C. of PS: Katwa proved himself unequal to adhering to the law. He asked the Hindus straight, ââ¬ÅWhat problems do you have with cow slaughter? Why are you all taking exceptions to this if they consume their own foods?ââ¬Â The S.D.O. proved himself to be more ingenious. He assured the Hindus that there would be no slaughtering of cows and the tradition would go on devoid of any disturbance. This assurance did satisfy the innocent Hindus and it was quite natural as there had never been any cow slaughter in the village of Suddo. They thought that the administration would do all to prevent slaughtering of cows. But what did happen later on was contrary to their belief. On the very morning of Bakri Id police was found to bring a matador vehicle from the Katwa police station and put the cow in it. Hindus considered this as the end of all rough-and-tumbles. But the police took the cow to Aker Hut, an adjacent Muslim dominated village. And the cow was slain there in sacrifice conforming to the procedure of halal of Islam. The police again was careful enough to carry the beef to the village of Suddo. What type of endeavor to retain tradition is this? A question started haunting Hindus ââ¬â is this a way of retaining the dignity of Honââ¬â¢ble High Court? Is this a way of carrying out the High Courtââ¬â¢s ruling? What can be the conclusion then? Bakri Id of this year states clearly the actual position of courtââ¬â¢s ruling, law, administration and Muslims. The Hindus in West Bengal have got to find out their own position based on all these developments. The first and foremost aim of Hindu Samhati is to make Hindus in the Indian state of West Bengal conscious of their own position. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-17-2012 Our Struggle ââ¬â Contemporary Press & Media The period of festivities, Durga-puja, Lakshmi-puja and Kali-puja is over. And the season was marked by copious attacks on Puja mandaps, desecration of Deities, aggressive attacks on religious processions as well as planned conspiracies to halt festival in some areas. Nevertheless, in sharp contrast to the passionate vigor with which our workers resisted these aggressive attacks, there is a systemic apathy to pen down such atrocities on the Hindu society at large. This is understandable, however, because the hand that swings sword at ease is not necessarily the one that writes well. Consequently, we have not been able to bring forth the particulars of mounting religious persecutions on Bengali Hindus and needless to say we are deeply saddened and ashamed at this deficiency or ours. However, one begs to ask - what are the press and media of Bengal doing regarding this worsening reality? It seems that the media are steadfast in their resolution that there would be no publication of news portraying encounters between Hindus and Muslims. As per their logic, publication of any news of communal persecution could potentially aggravate community cohesion. As a result, communal conflicts may increase. They go on to speculate that proscribing such news would somehow lead to preservation of harmony and lasting peace between communities. A few relevant questions need to be raised in this context. First, has there been a reduction or rise in communal hostilities in the last few years in Bengal? What does Deganga point out then? And second, is it really the case that mainstream press remain silent with the aforesaid sagacious intentions? Or, is it a case of more deep seated treachery? Historically, after the restoration of democracy post-emergency period, ââ¬ÅBartamanââ¬Â newspaper used to endorse Hindu views, its afflictions as well as the malicious attitude of the state towards it. The venerable journalist Pabitra Kumar Ghosh used to be mostly instrumental in this case. His dauntless approach and support to the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement helped it attain new heights. The newspaper gained prominence and popularity among the Bengalis by its bold and honest publication of news relating to the Hindu cause. But something went wrong after this and the newspaper turned into a pseudo-secular mouthpiece. The situation with ââ¬ÅDainik Statesmanââ¬Â, started by another exceedingly reputable journalist having creditable expertise, Mr. Manash Ghosh, has not been any different. In the beginning, this newspaper too was perceived to be impartial and uphold the truth regarding persecution of the Hindu and leading to the growth of a loyal readership. And then, lo and behold! Same magic again! It has also turned pseudo-secular by systematically suppressing news afflicting Hindus. These days ââ¬ÅEkdinââ¬Â newspaper, under the aegis of another esteemed journalist, is being found to focus on escalating Hindu-Muslim problems. This newspaper, without doubt, is focusing on the said strategy of ââ¬ÅDainik Statesmanââ¬Â to augment its own presence in the market and also to grab the power and identity to bargain with Muslim-backed pressure group to have greater shares of monetary benefits. This is now established to be a systematic ploy. It is likely that this newspaper would go for the same tactic, the moment it secures out a good market for its own. Focusing on increasing Hindu-Muslim hostilities is nothing but a ploy to market itself in order to have a good share of petro-dollars through I.S.I. at the cost of the poor Hindus. And talking of the Ananda Bazar group in this respect would only be a waste of time. It is a too old player in the pertinent scenario and has been adequately fattened by the petro-dollars. Their engagement in decimating Hindus is more than evident, thanks to its prolong association with people like Sunil Ganguly and others. What conclusion can be drawn from here? Religious persecution of Hindus would remain subdued forever. Owing to the inhuman and treacherous silence of the mainstream press and media, incidents of continued persecution of the Hindus, destruction of its properties and temples will remain suppressed forever. No repressed Hindu would be able to know the hapless situation of his coreligionist, because knowledge of such oppression would lead to growing outrage against the perpetrators and compassion for fellow Hindus. Without doubt, any such development is too dangerous for the tormentors. To keep the Hindus ignorant about their plight, it seems that Saudi Arabia is expending enormous money to control the Bengali media. Two anecdotes: A few days prior to the Kali Puja, an adolescent girl named Moumita hailing from a village in Joypur police station of the Howrah district phoned the Samhati office. She said without qualms that the government is up in arms to put an end to firecrackers during the Puja but remained strangely silent during the recently concluded Sab-e-barat, witness to excessive use of same fireworks. Overcome with emotions, she went on to say ââ¬Åduring our celebrations power-cuts are quite common whereas during Islamic festivities, electricity remains intact. The situation is same in case of water supply too; they get water over prolonged times during their festivals whereas we donââ¬â¢t get even a single drop more. Arenââ¬â¢t we, the Hindus, citizens of the same nation? Why donââ¬â¢t you do something? But please, donââ¬â¢t publish my name.ââ¬Â Her name has been changed in this writing accordingly. Second anecdote: Kolkata Police, before the Kali Puja, sent an SMS requesting people to stay away from firecrackers and to stop the nuisance, and report by dialing 100 or 1090 right away. Receiving the message, one responsible worker of Hindu Samhati sent a message to a known police officer, belonging to an important police station of Central Kolkata. The message stated, ââ¬Åthrough prohibiting firecrackers during Kali Puja and allowing the same during Sab-e-barat, Kolkata Police is doing a wonderful job. This is leading to the formation of a new Pakistan in Bengalââ¬Â. In response to the message, the officer phoned the worker and stated without hesitation, they would have to convert themselves to Islam soon to preserve dignity of his wife and daughter. Here remains the true situation of Kolkata. We have already said that these are nothing other than anecdotes but point to grave indicators of times to come. Because you would not find such articles anymore in any newspaper you read or TV channel you love to watch almost on a daily basis? This is the truest charm of petro-dollars originating from Saudi Arabia. We condemn with gusto this Muslim appeasing Indian media who have sold them to the highest bidder without caring a bit for the Hindus. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-18-2012 MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2012 Those who canââ¬â¢t struggle, do not deserve to live How much time does the Islamic Ummah need to stir up? Not more than a second; as a single stick is enough to make a cur outcry, the same time is needed (for it) to unleash hell on non-Muslims, better known as infidels to Islamists. Their ongoing tirade across the globe ââ¬â against a film sarcastically entitled The Innocence of Muslims ââ¬â testifies the same once more. Islamist street fighters are not losing even a single moment to prove brawniness of Islam and how hell-bent it is to prevail on all and thus create a novel and single world order. Salman Rushide, both famed and ill-famed for his ââ¬ÅSatanic Versesââ¬Â, exploiting the raging situation perfectly, has been turned into a new bogey by Islamists. As per Ayatollah Hassan Sanei, leading figure of one of the most high-flying (state-owned) foundations in Iran providing relief to the poor, the film would have remained a dream if the order to execute Rushdie, dictated by the late Iranian spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1989, had been implemented. He has also said, "If the imam's order was carried out, the further insults in the form of caricatures, articles and films would not have taken place. The impertinence of the grudge-filled enemies of Islam, which is occurring under the flag of the Great Satan, America and the racist Zionists, can only be blocked by the absolute administration of this Islamic order." Even if there is no doubt that Government in Tehran has induced the Ayatollah to make this rabble-rousing postures to hassle an utterly beleaguered United States, apprehensions that cocktail of furor against anti-Islam film and endeavors to resurrect a decades-old diktat may inflict more blows are rising and it will no more be directed against the United States and Israel only. Anger will be displayed against many other nations also ââ¬â the most prominent of it is India. Who doesnââ¬â¢t know of Islamââ¬â¢s failure to subdue Hindus and destruct their age-old civilization and how this pang of failure continues to hurt warriors of the ââ¬ÅReligion of Peaceââ¬Â? Ongoing protests make one thing clear ââ¬â Islamists require a very little time to turn a whisper to a storm ââ¬â explicitly, a violent storm having potential to dismantle many theories of peaceful co-existence across the globe. What can be learnt of all these ââ¬â it depends on maturity of an assortment of non-Muslim religious institutions and their adherents. Before I go, if the current troubles end for the time being, it will be a lull before the next storm only ââ¬â more fortified and experienced than past. Non-Islamists canââ¬â¢t depend on their foesââ¬â¢ good wishes; itââ¬â¢s nothing except a sham ââ¬â a war strategy of Islamists to perplex enemies. All have got to be serious of crisis as regards existence of them and their venerable culture, dignity. So ââ¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦. struggle continues. -- Compare Hindu Samhati to moribund Sangh Parivar Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-18-2012 MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2012 New Love Jihad in Chapra, Nadia EVE-TEASING is a rampant social evil. It can happen anywhere like road, beaches, cinema hall, buses even if in the educational Institution. The non satiated Love Jihadists are getting more violent in West Bengal. So the Muslim Romeos are very much interested in irritating Hindu girls in the name of love. Chapra village is under Chapra assembly constituency in Nadia district. Chapra College is the only college in this area. A girl named Sanchita Pal is a second year student of B.A. degree course in the college. This girl and her family are suffering from a terrific situation. A Muslim boy Ahamed Mistri was disturbing her for some time. Although Sanchita became irritated, she could not protest out of fear. One day in the middle of August in the college campus, that Ahamed proposed her for marriage. Sanchita sternly refused him. Then Ahmed suddenly cut his hand to pressurize the girl. Being scared, Sanchita went to the Principalââ¬â¢s room to complain. Principal Krishna Gopal Roy summoned her father Chandu Pal to college. When he came to the college, Ahmed and his companions threatened him for going to the Principal. After a few days, Chandu Pal with some of his neighbours went to Ahamedââ¬â¢s father Humayun Mistri to solve the problem. Humayun assured him that he would take care of his son and the girl would not be disturbed in future. But what actually happened was just opposite. On 30th August, Ahmed along with some Muslim antisocial elements came to Sanchitaââ¬â¢s house and hurled a few bombs beside the house. Hearing the huge sound of the bombs local Hindus rushed to the spot. The culprits tried to run away but one of them was caught by the local people. Then they called local police station which is just 1km. away from that place. But police did not come to the spot. Within half an hour, local Muslims attacked Hindus with lethal arms like sword, iron rod, wooden stick, etc. They mercilessly beaten up Sanchitaââ¬â¢s father and uncles named Goutam Pal and Ratan Pal. Goutamââ¬â¢s head was fractured and had to be admitted in local hospital. The attackers were searching for Sanchita, but they could not find out her because some Hindu boys gave her protection and hid her from the Muslims. Police came after long 2 hours when the situation was somehow controlled. That made people extremely agitated and a scuffle took place between the police and local people. In this scuffle, a police jeep was damaged. So police arrested 11 Hindus and 6 Muslims. But the police adamantly refused to receive any written complaint from the Hindus against the aggressors. Next day, 2 Hindus and 2 Muslims got bail from court as they were minors. Hence 9 Hindus and 4 Muslims are still in jail. The O.C. of the Chapra police station is reportedly threatening Chandu Pal, hapless father of the girl, that if he dares to lodge any complaint against the Muslims, he will be arrested. The Muslim criminals too are threatening him. According to local sources, the local TMC MLA Rukbanur Rahman, elder brother of Mamataââ¬â¢s vote catching poster boy late Rizwanur Rahman, is influencing police to protect the Muslim culprits and to act against the Hindus. Hindus of Nadia district are helplessly witnessing the making of another Pakistan. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-18-2012 Hindus brave Islamistsââ¬â¢ attacks in Madhusudanpur, Kulpi Police acting parochially; 3 Hindus arrested ââ¬â Islamists released There is the need of just a pretext for Islamists to establish their murderous identity; ever since the change (much-hyped Poriborton) in the Bengal government it has been the nitty-gritty of this mounting horde of malefactors. And the Hindu ââ¬â Muslim clash occurring on September 10, 2012, at village: Madhusudanpur, P.S. Kulpi, District: 24 Paraganas (South) happens to be its unspeakable consequence. Resembling various other incidents, Islamists, at this time too, were the attackers while the Hindus were defending themselves ââ¬â notable exception being Hindus did not back out but struggled valiantly. The problem started at 3.30 pm when Islamists prevented Hindu from selling raw vegetables in the Kulpi ââ¬â Bijaygunje main road. A fine pretext ââ¬â wasnââ¬â¢t the same said in the beginning? Well, this is not the first-such-kind-of activity of Islamists in the area; they tried to make such attacks in the past too. But, owing to backing of Islamists (from the nearby villages mainly), they rose up this time. What has made the situation dirty indeed is the parochial attitude of police and administration. Three Hindu youths namely Surajit Gharami (age 26), Pulakesh Gharami (age 26) and Rajesh Bhattacharya (age 25) have been taken into custody. A few Muslim youths were also arrested initially but were released in the midway because of political pressure ââ¬â ever inclined to better Islamists. Police did not spare Hindu women! Champa Gharami (age 45), wife of Brajendranath Gharami (age 50) and mother of Pulakesh Gharami (arrested), was slapped by Ranjit Babu, second officer at P.S. Kulpi, when she protested against her sonââ¬â¢s undue arrest. Both police and administration gave a message of terror to the Hindu society, thus. The biasness of police did not end there. When three Hindu youths were taken to the police station, they were trounced and told that Muslims canââ¬â¢t be arrested and if they dared to protest yet again, the consequence would be more dangerous for them. Hindus blocked the Kulpi ââ¬â Bijaygunje main road persistently. Tension dominates the entire area; RAF, reportedly, is patrolling the area to keep any untoward development at bay. Guardians of the girl reported to police on 18/07/2012. Police, at first, refused to take any complain. Later, on insistence, a police officer, Ashis Chakraborty went to the house of the boy for interrogation along with the guardians of the girl. Parents of the boy acknowledged the incident and expressed their consent. On return, police asked the guardians of the girl to lodge a missing diary and refused to any complain. The Missing diary was lodged on 19/07/2012 vide number 2234. Even after repeated requests, when police did not took the issue seriously and refused to lodge any complain, the family of the girl approached the Court. Finally, on 25/07/2012, the Baruipur Court instructed the SDPO and local police to lodge a complain and take necessary action. A formal complain wasa finally lodged on 25/07/2012 vide number 1487. On 12/08/2012, the parents of the boy was arrested and produced to court. The court has awarded 7 days of police custody to them. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-19-2012 Tapan Ghosh speaks at Hindu Samhatiââ¬â¢s Third Anniversary I would like to initiate the speech by paying tribute to venerable Swami Pradiptanandaji, venerable Swami Tejeshanandaji, Dr. Richard Benkin, Ms. Miriam Jones, my old friend Sri Dhananjay Pathak, Shailendra Jain, Arvid Mishra, Manishji, Amitav Tripathiji and the youth resolved to fight for Hindutva and MatriShakti. Now there is a question. Why such a great leadership has been brought in? It is to depict that the desperate struggles of Hindus in the length and breadth of the Indian state of West Bengal is not alone; it is advocated by like-minded people and an international force across the globe and similar struggles are taking place in all four corners of the world. In 1947, during the partition of the then undivided India, there was a demand of East-West corridor by the protagonists of Pakistan movement, rejected outright by the then Indian leadership. But sadly and conforming to Sri Dhananjay Pathakââ¬â¢s speech, the corridor is becoming a hard reality more and more and the existing situations in West and East UP (Uttar Pradesh), North Bihar along with Murshidabad, Malda and Dinajpur (significant districts in West Bengal) denote the same. In accordance with international agencies, Pakistan and Bangladesh are enjoying bonhomie at the moment and are steadfast to get combined soon. The Pakistan movement, from its inception in 1940, was ridiculed by both national and provincial leadership but within a span of 7 years it turned out to be a reality. But what is most unfortunate, the Indian leadership and intellectuals till date steer clear of revealing the same reality. And the bitterest truth is that Hindus are getting into a hopeless minority. If the modern statistics is taken into account, Muslims comprise 35% of the total population in Assam, 30% in West Bengal and 25% in North Bihar. Now the questions remain whether the Bengali Hindus will become refugees once again. Muslims, at the present time, have 57 nations under their jurisdiction throughout the globe while Christians, Buddhists, Jews have 70, 10 and 1 nations respectively. All these bring forth a new question ââ¬â is this not our land. Will the Hindus have to become immigrants like Jyoti Basu, Buddhadev Bhattacharjee, Mamata Banerjee, forsake this land and plead to Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar? Will all these fit the dignity of Hindus? Hence, Hindu Samhati is waging a war against the adversaries and thanks to all these, within a period of 3 years, it has attained the present position. What is my greatest achievement then? By means of Hindu Samhati I have been able motivate Hindus to fight in no less than 50 places. Hindus would not bow down to anyone any longer. Only on yesterday Muslims destroyed temple in Village Howapota, Sankrail and in P.S. Minakha they assaulted a Hindu religious fair. All these prove police and administration in Bengal have become completely incompetent and the turmoil regarding the Taslima episode proves it best. How can lessons in Deganga be forgotten? The Islamic assault in Deganga, North 24 Parganas (resulting from a planned and nefarious planning) took place on 06, 07 and 08 September under aegis of Haji Nurul Islam, Trinamool MP from Basirhat, and local Hindus numbering into several hundreds were brutally tortured. Hindusââ¬â¢ homes were looted and destroyed, temples and Deities were desecrated and shops were also put on fire by their Muslim neighbors. A Muslim zealot named Moklukar Rahman urinated on the idol of Goddess Kali in the Kali temple. But the government and Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee failed totally to rein in the situation; army had to be called in. The honorable CM even did not dare to arrest Imam Barkati of Tipu Sultan Mosque for instigation to the murder of Taslima Nasreen. But the same government proved to be quick enough to succumb to the demands of Muslim protestors and arrest editor, publisher of The Statesman (bailed out later). Two other small incidents are to be mentioned. Father of Jyoti Basu, ex-CM of Bengal, had farsightedness (realized the fast deteriorating situation in spite of alleged Hindu-Muslim unity programs in then undivided India) and built up the house in Ballygunje unlike the hapless Matua community and millions of other people. The situation was no different with the Nehru family, natives of Kashmir, as well. Motilal Nehru, father of Jawaharlal Nehru, built a residence in Allahabad. All these are great lessons for Hindu Samhati and that's why, enough is enough. Hindu Samhati is resolved to fight back. Hindus are no longer alone; whenever there is any news of atrocities on Hindus, news are broadcasted throughout the globe. There is another thing to be noted. Islamic Ummah is the greatest strength of worldwide Muslim community and it is therefore the time that Hindu Ummah must be built. Surely, the name would be Hindu Brotherhood or Hindu Solidarity or Hindu Consolidation or Hindu Samhati. Itââ¬â¢s first and foremost aim would be to make all Hindus realize agonies of and tortures on Hindus. Hindu Samhati workers would go on with the struggle. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-19-2012 Shyamaprasadââ¬â Kashmir ââ¬â Palestine ââ¬â America Tapan Kumar Ghosh translated from Bengali Without a shred of doubt, whatever government, in such a situation, that dares to succumb to Pakistan on Kashmir issue and present it the area as a gift will be dethroned by public outrage. And the same will call all related nefarious designs a halt. Hence, a brutal, nasty ploy has started covertly. The players in this game are known ââ¬â politicians of both India and Pakistan who have capitulated to United States already. But they are not alone; a few pet intellectuals like Kuldip Nayar who leave no stone unturned to make this precarious design a success are accompanying them. It is worthwhile to mention that during the NDA governmentââ¬â¢s rule, at the behest of Atal Behari Vajpayee, in Delhi, United States made great efforts to exploit this perilous situation. The foremost political party of then NDA was Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under the aegis of both Atal Behari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani. And both the party and its leaders were regarded as custodians of Hindu society. And above all they were part and parcel of the Sangh Parivar (family). For that reason, an assortment of well-known Hindu organizations including RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Vidyarthi Parishad, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Vanabasi Kalyan Ashram considered Vajpayee, Advani and their cohorts as dear and near ones. This made vicious contrivers of Kashmir design consider Hindutvawadi and Sangh Parivar as the greatest obstacle to accomplishment of their objective. Vajpayee, to auction off Kashmir, was selected as the best means by none other than the United States of America. Other political parties in India like Congress and others had already been bought. Why would Vajpayee conform to American interests? Well, in this case, none should forget the brawny exponents of US Foreign Policy and well-bred, knavish officials of US Foreign Department. They were enough to find out the loopholes and through a painstaking study aided by apposite approaches, flaws of Vajpayee were found out before long. Atal Behari Vajpayee, by then, had become Prime Minister of India but truly, he was no different one and was just like his predecessors. Sadly, this was not any strong or enough reason to make him a remarkable persona in history. How this coveted position could be attained? There was a need to have global certificate or deference and recognition, to have this. Jawaharlal Nehru had both of these and all these compelled Vajpayee to defect. US officials had nothing to worry; appointment of Brajesh Mishra, notable agent of America, within his core department, was made to stimulate Vajpayee all the time (for this) only. Contrary to belief of many persons still, Gandhiji also had same kind of infatuation. He wanted to keep his own name alive for eternity through resolving Muslim problem in human civilization, proved to be an idea not viable already. Thanks to all these, he went on gradually to make every right a wrong, appeasing Muslims and impelling them to get more fundamentalists and turncoats. Khilafat movement was such a misdeed of him andit can not be forgotten ever. Hindus had to pay heavy price for all these; partition of India was the highest, without doubt. Alike sort of greed was injected in Vajpayee too. He was witnessed to become esurient to solve the burning Kashmir issue, not possible for even Nehru-Patel to resolve. Vajpayee thought that settlement of the same would make his own standing in history perpetual. What would have been the best procedure to get the coveted success? It was to accept each and every demand of Muslims in Kashmir. And it is no secret that sole policy of Muslim majority in Kashmiris severance from India. He considered that to be the best and this severance would be granted to them in the name of ââ¬Åright to self-determinationââ¬Â or something akin to it. Not only this would settle Kashmir crisis once and for all, Vajpayee, from confidential sources, was also assured that such an approach would facilitate him to have ââ¬ÅNoble Prize for Global Harmonyââ¬Â. United States of America, through its myriad tried agents, enticed Vajpayee such and it was also accepted by the later with gusto. Well, this enticement was not any false one as well since, to Noble Committee under stringent American influence, peace in America is synonymous to global peace. Hence, had Vajpayee been successful in nursing the Kashmir wound of global Islam, he would be awarded the aforementioned Noble Prize. Vajpayee, conforming to the design, did also progress a great deal. I, in 2003-04, had gone through direct contacts with Muslims in Kashmir and found out their admiration and veneration to Vajpayee. Muslims in Kashmir, by then, realized that Vajpayee had solved Kashmir mess. Only a sound proclamation of it was left. All these indicate that a heinous conspiracy to detach Kashmir from India in the name of self-determination was in full swing. Indian National Congress, then main party in opposition, was also ready. Only a simple frown of Vajpayee was enough to calm all in BJP and Advani would rub his own hands. United States, on the other hand, did not undergo any trouble to convince leadership and its opposition in Pakistan. Rest of non-Congress political parties in Indiaare devoid of any precise Kashmir policy. And if there is any dissent still, showering of American dollars will be enough. Nevertheless, Sangh Parivar was the greatest obstacle before the success, in particular some of its leaders like Thengri, Ashok Singhal, Sudarshan, too stubborn in every way of the term. They were not saleable at the same instant. And to steer clear of all these usage of BJP and Vajpayee, having pro-Hindu images and as integral parts of Sangh Parivar, happened to be mostprofit making. How can leaders of Sangh Parivar accuse BJP and Vajpayee asanti-nationals and traitors to auction off Kashmir then? Is it easy to criticize them suddenly when they have been praised always? This will definitely lead to a great confusion among Swayamsevaks and leaders and activists of Sangh Parivar. The time necessary to ward off allconfusions is enough to auction off Kashmir. Indian Army will be withdrawn from that area and be replaced with the Army of Pakistan or NATO. Taking all these facts into consideration, United States helped NDA wholeheartedly to win Parliamentary election in 2004. Perhaps the sane reader can realize: Israel ââ¬âJewish Mindset ââ¬â Sharon ââ¬â Gaza Strip = India ââ¬â Hindu Sentiment ââ¬â Vajpayee ââ¬âKashmir. But nothing can defeat the ill fortune or the aftermath of BJPââ¬â¢s treachery to Hindus. BJP underwent a humiliating defeat in 2004 election, in spite of running the government well, working for development, developing national economy. Leaders of that party, yet, fail to recognize that betrayal to basic ideology was the main basis of their crushing downfall. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-19-2012 Result of 2009 Indian Parliamentary Elections ---An analysis Tapan Kumar Ghosh The election result of 2009 parliamentary election is quiet unexpected. Congress could not contemplate even in their wildest figment of imagination that they would cross 200. Their final tally is 206. BJP also got a rude jolt as they could garner only 116, a sharp drop from 138. Congress got a fresh lease of life. Advani's dream of becoming Prime Minister got shattered and possibly for good. BJP not only lost in terms of seats but it's votes also nosedived by more than 4%. Let us critically review the results. In our state of West Bengal as well as Kerala, Left Front stands humiliated with a total drubbing. They were routed out and.The leftists are trying to put the entire blame on Prakash Karat. It is a clever ploy to cover up the total communist msirule, despotism and corruption. A wrong strategy of Karat has disintegrated the third front in an irreversible manner but the primary reason for the communist debacle is rooted in their anti democratic and anti people policies. A great blessing of this election outcome is that Bihar populace has banished Lalu and Rambilas Paswan and these bluff masters have got nothing except casteism, parochialism and regionalism in their kitty. In northern India, in the Hindi heartland, Congress' revival can't be simply overlooked. In UP, Congress has bagged double the seats of BJP. In Bihar, Congress has bagged only three but it's vote share has gone up by more than 10%. In Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand; Congress has won hands down. It has fared reasonably well in Punjab and J & K. BJP's prestige has been saved by MP, HP and Gujarat. Bihar, Karnataka and Chattishgarh has given BJP a big boost. Some questions crop up automatically. Despite a huge success in Amarnath movement, what made BJP not even get a single seat in Jammu? Previously BJP was not a blank over there. This movement was initiated by Sangha Pariver. Is it false? In Tamilnadu a massive movement underwent over "Ramsetu" issue and it was crowned with success. Where is the result out of it? The biggest question is on Orissa. Here, BJP has drawn a flack, a sharp drop from seven to zero. In Chattishgarh, Dilip Singh Judeo of BJP is a prominent figure against Christian conversion. He has won with a massive margin and also made BJP win in that belt. But why BJP failed to win a single seat from the tribal belt of Orissa and even from Kandhamal where Swami Laxmanananda was assassinated? After the gruesome murder of Swamiji there was a mass upsurge amongst the tribals. Where did it evaporate? The answer lies on the event of 25th. December last year. VHP called a statewide Bandh that day in protest against the murder of Swamiji. However, VHP was compelled to withdraw the Bandh call under pressure from Sangha parivar and Advani just for the sake of saving the coalition government. It was once again proved that political interest was foremost in their mind. Ideology is only on their lip. The tribal society did not take this utter hypocrisy and chicanery lightly. In Assam BJP got 4 seats out of 13. On what basis did BJP get those seats? Sangha Parivar is organizationally very week in Assam. Somebody may infer this success owing to coalition with AGP. This is absolutely wrong. Does AGP make BJP the senior partner in the coalition just like that without deliberating pros and cons? BJP can't garner votes in Delhi and Bombay on the plank of development. Is it not totally foolish to contemplate that BJP garners votes in Assam on development issue? So, the right conclusion is :-BJP got it's votes in Assam. Why? Because, Hindus know very well from their realistic, day to day experience that their very existence is at stake. So, they voted for BJP as a last resort. BJP got those Hindu votes in large chunk in spite of possibly the weakest organization in Assam out of whole India. Had votes been representative of organizational strength then BJP would have got maximum votes in Kerala as RSS has maximum number of Shakhas in Kerala. However, during last 20 years, BJP votes have hovered in Kerala between 6% to 12%. Dear readers, let us once again look at the ground reality. Congress will form a stable govt. at the centre for next five years. But the bigger issue remains that this election result would facilitate Rahul Gandhi becoming the future prime minister of India. Whether the country becomes strong, prosperous, developed or stable does not matter at all on election results, but if Rahul becomes PM in future, this degenerated Congress party would get a much needed stability. Gandhi could not walk without a stick and similarly Congress can't walk without the prop of a Gandhi. Congress revived and re-assured it's prominence in the national scene because of Advani's leadership and Advani himself was nominated by RSS leadership. The issue of Hindutva and Ram Mandir movement pulled BJP up from 2 to 182. Then they started becoming secular, sorry 'pseudo secular'. Still Kargil issue held back their score. Lust for power also started looming large and cast it's dark shadow. All these contrived their thinking that if they become ultra secular, they would be able to increase the score from 182. That is what made them bury all issues related to Hindutva. They simply started cheating Hindus, played with delicate sentiment of Hindus. With an utopian slogan of 'India Shining' and false reading of pulse of electorate they face the 2004 election. The result from --- 182 to 134. That was not enough to utter even once " Hey Ram". The main protagonist of "India Shining" A B Vajpayee was elected from Uttar Pradesh. In Nineties UP was a citadel of BJP. BJP ran govt. in UP on it's own. In that very UP, BJP just got 10 out of 80. Still, addiction to pseudo-secularism did not go away. Lust for power is all pervasive. It numbs one's senses. Vajpayee was instrumental in constructing the national highway. This time Advani and Co. promised to construct Broadband and digital highway. They had firm conviction that they could ascend the throne of Delhi through the digital highway only and thus banished Ram's path. What a hue and cry was made on the day of launching Advani's website. Dr. Ranawat had come from USA to perform surgery on Vajpayee's knee but failed. Pramod Mahajan did neither succeed in curing Vajpayee's knee nor could he turn himself into the kingmaker by launching Advani into his digital trajectory. Dear reader, you might be feeling hurt within but I am writhing with a deeper pain. I have worked as a RSS whole timer over three decades and it pinches me, it hurts me, it tramples my sentiment, it numbs my sensory nerve, it traumatises me. Dear reader, you are not aware of the following facts. When these so called great BJP leaders were central ministers, they gave directives in their own ministry that if any office bearer of any Hindu organization writes any letter- it need not be replied. Not only was any reply sent but also there was no acknowledgement of these letters. All other letters used to be replied as a routine. We in RSS always used to pledge by 'Akhanda Bharat' i.e. " Undivided Motherland'. How is the character of so called BJP leaders? Vajpayee went to Pakistan, wore a white band of clothe across his forehead and kissed "Minar-e-Pakistan". Minar-e-Pakistan stands for Pakistani nationhood. By acknowledging this Minar-e-Pakistan, Vajpayee supported Pakistani nationhood and buried the resolve for our great undivided motherland. The visit was not obligatory for Vajpayee to do this. It was his characterlessness and abdication of ideology. When the head of state from Pakistan visits India, he visits Tajmahal but never goes to Rajghat to bow his head in front of epitaph of Gandhi. Haj subsidy is provided to the Muslim pilgrims and Hindu pilgrims have to pay pilgrimage tax for Gangasagar Fair and other numerous places of pilgrimage. Previously from three embankment centers, Haj pilgrims used to fly. Vajpayee's aviation minister Shanawaz Hussain increased that from three to twelve. In Kishanganj, Vajpayee declared that he would give employment to two lakh Urdu teachers. In Jharkhand, BJP made Urdu the second state language. We, nationalists had agenda like Uniform civil code, scrapping of article 370. These all became back benchers in the Government agenda on the pretext of coalition politics. They stooped to such a low level that they also scrapped these main agendas from BJP's programmes. Not a single infiltrator got arrested. These all resulted in the defeat for BJP in 2004. The greatest credential for any entity is it's credibility. BJP had lost that. Common people came to understand that what BJP professes, it does not follow that. But the leaders were like Ostrich with their necks submerged into deep quagmire. Thereafter came UPA of Sonia Manmohan. This Government failed in all fronts. Inflation had rocketed. Every week, Jehadi terrorist attack, in some city or other. It continued as a routine and numerous innocent lives got sacrificed. At last came the 26/11. Indian prestige in the international arena got shattered. BJP left no stone unturned to propagate against the same. During the shooting period, no less a person than the stature of Narendra Modi visited the spot. They projected Advani as a strong leader with a decisive Govt. Still people turned them down. People did not believe them. They have already lost their credibility. In Mumbai, Congress bagged all the Six seats. BJP in it's own city Delhi got zero. Even in Gujrat BJP got one more seat but lost 0.9% vote. Modi is over zealous to project himself as Vikash Purush. It could be a fallout of that.In a nutshell, BJP went in a secular mode and it was badly defeated in 1984 & 2004. Advani made BJP bite the dust in 2009. The word secular is great but in Indian real politik it's real meaning is appeasement, blatant minority appeasement and pandering to the base instincts to the fullest extent. Advani went to Pakistan and termed Jinnah as secular. This Jinnah was responsible for division of India that resulted in the genocide and bloodbath of millions of Hindus. Had there been no Varun Gandhi, BJP would have been in single digit in UP. Varun Gandhi won with a huge margin of 2.3 lakh votes with a Hindu flag in his hands and purely on a Hindu agenda even during the worst BJP plight. Is that Hindu vote or secular vote? BJP garners Hindu votes and dreams of distorted secularism under the influence of media which itself is corrupt, immoral and bribed by petro dollars. In the yore, one foolish Brahmin had a goat but ten frauds repeatedly kept on misleading that foolish Brahmin that it was a dog and the Brahmin abandoned the goat thinking it to be a dog. BJP grew up from 2 to 182 on Hindutva. Analogically, BJP has left Hindutva equating it to be a dog rather than a goat and has declined to 116. It will fall further. However, if BJP gets CONGRESSIZED fully, it will rise again. The young generation leaders of BJP are striving hard to bring in Congressization into BJP. The greatest question as of today is that whether these gross flaws are confined only to the topmost rung of the party or whether the entire stratum and structure of the party has been Vajpayeeized and Advanized. The true answer to this question would dictate the party in future. That would be the rudder for the party. That would determine the level of obnoxious pollution within the party and how the purging movement could be carried out and if at all this purging movement would be carried out or not. If the answer is in negative, it would create a process of deoxygenating that does not allow any healthy existence. Some optimists in the top rung of RSS like Sri Ashok Singhal think that this disease and distortion is confined to few leaders only and in general the party mechanism is normal. But many veterans hold an opposite view. Many of them who hold this opposite view have dedicated their entire life span for Mother India. In that case, we need to echo the famous 2001 utterance of Shri Ashok Singhal:- " In India, Hindus are politically orphan". So, Hindus badly need a new platform today. NOTE : What is Congressization? Congress as of present date can be best described as a conglomeration of opportunists and self seekers. This trend is very predominant over last four decades. It has not even slightest trace of organizational infrastructure anywhere and it is and it was not a cohesive party but a platform. Anybody may come in and anybody may go out at any point of time. It is the empire of one dynasty and loyalty is the only criterion. Naturally, merit can't coexist with flattery. So, this so called party revolves around a culture that panders to lower base instincts. Indira Gandhi's husband Feroze Khan was a Muslim and so all in Gandhi family bear the legacy of Muslim blood and Muslim appeasement thus becomes a natural corollary. There are regional satraps in every province who maintain their seat of power only and only owing to close proximity with that single family. Sons and daughters automatically get nomination for contesting and no growth in the party is envisaged for organizational acumen but only on relational proximity and being in the good book of some or other influential office bearers. This culture does not only exist in Indian National Congress but also every offshoot and branch that it has shed like Trinamool Congress, Tamil Manila Congress etc. Only personality cult reigns supreme. Whatever Mamata says is the first word and last word and whatever she decides is the final policy in Trinamool Congress and no second thought can be conceived of. Proximity and closeness to her decides one's position in the party. Ayarams and Gayarams are a common feature of this culture and this movement depends on one's opportunistic suitability. This very mean Congress culture is going to engulf BJP. This is most worrisome and this degenerative process has set in. Advani's daughter with no political experience but only on the strength of being Advani's daughter wants to be projected onto the political projectile. Naturally, those who are dedicated enough and have gone up the rung feel dejected and disheartened. The classic example can be cited from the money bag manager of BJP---late Pramod Mahajan. After his murder, his son Rahul was to fly to Assam for being projected the future leader of the party. Unfortunately, he got critically ill for taking heroine beyond his tolerable limit. Pramod's personal secretary Vivek Maitra even died because of overdose. This just got highlighted because of this death but many such malice have crept deep inside BJP, but BJP was launched as " a party with a difference". Dear reader, judge yourself--where it stands today. There are many Pramods behind your eyes those you know not. Many office bearers could not reconcile with this fact. These type of characterless, parvenu who are absoloutely devoid of any ideology are trying to call the shots in BJP. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-19-2012 Swami Pradiptanandajiââ¬â¢s speech on Hindu Samhatiââ¬â¢s 3 rd Anniversary mesmerizes Hindus Om Sharanagata Dinarto Paritranaparayane Sarva Shakti Hare Devi Narayani Namohostuteââ¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦ I, at the outset, would like to thank president of Hindu Samhati, sages on the podium, people playing gallant roles in strengthening the cause, patriotic media persons and others. I was being introduced by the coordinator as a Sannyasi of Bharat SevaSram Sangha. Acharya Swami Pranabanandaji Maharaj, founder of the Sangha, didnââ¬â¢t ever Japa (to say prayers silently) with Rudraksha or Tulsi or even Wooden string but through the mantra of construction of the nationality (Jati Gathan). During the dark days of then undivided Bengal he founded Sangha, Hindu Defence Force to save the vulnerable Hindus. However, in the last years of his life he was found to weep a lot and say that Hindus didnââ¬â¢t listen to him and it was the year 1944 when Swamiji breathed his last. Strikingly this was followed by the Great Calcutta Killing in 1946 and massacres of innocent of Hindus in Bengal. And all these were used by Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India, to light up the whole of Delhi, once the regal capital of British Empire and also of independent India. Nehru was even found to dance with Lady Mountbatten while millions of Hindus died out of hunger and lack of security. What led to all these? Hindus were led by betrayers, Father of the Nation (MK Gandhi) and Nehru, known for ridiculing the Pakistan plan as a fantastic nonsense. Mr. Nehru said arrogantly ââ¬ÅI am educated by English, cultured by Muslims and by accident of birth a Hindu.ââ¬Â Surely this was the beginning of the decline of Hindus. But all these must be defeated at this time. Who can ever forget Vande Matarm of Rishi Bankim Chandra of Bengal? Martyrs of Bengal dedicated their lives to the greatest cause of liberating the motherland from foreign yolk chanting the same mantra. Nowadays, an assortment of intellectuals are found to state that Hindu-Muslim unity during freedom struggle led to the independence in 1947 and this is the greatest travesty of truth. Partition happened due to al-Qur'an, noted for instructing the destruction of kafirs. Has anyone of the crowd gone to Andaman Cellular Jail ever? Names of 376 prisoners are enshrined there and among it almost 285 are Bengali Hindus. This is followed by Maharashtra and Punjab. And there is the name of 2 Muslims among all. Muslims never consider India as their motherland and will never as well, without a doubt. We have got to accept this stark reality. Never forget that animal can be brought out of the forests but not the reverse. Sadly, we have never taken these into account and for this reason, India is in a deep crisis. The position of Hindus is same as Abhimanyu in Mahabharata and our greatest crime is that we are Hindus and speak of making Hindu organizations over and over again. There is hardly any doubt that we are getting persecuted from all sides. We are simple Hindus altogether and our ideal is Sri Rama Chandra, Maryada Puroshattam, who did all to rescue Mata Sita. What are we doing then? On the word of Sachar Committee, Muslims are deprived in each manner. But we have a question in this case. Why donââ¬â¢t they go to remote districts of Purulia, Bankura and also the remotest corners of 24 Paraganas in West Bengal? Tens of thousands of Hindus, in these places, do remain deprived of all amenities. In India, at the present time, 22 crores of people live below the poverty line and in it while 4 crores are Muslims, 18 crores are Hindus. But there is none to look after or even think of the welfare of these Hindus. Religious reservation has become a reality by now and only in West Bengal, 53 departments have already been brought under OBC status by the reigning Left Front government. Muslims have to have 5% interest to take educational loan but Hindus have to have 12% rate of interest. Minority cell has been appointed in each department and thanks to all these, Muslims are getting without guarantee loan against 50,000 ââ¬â 5, 00,000 amount of money. All these indicate that Hindus are nowhere in West Bengal. Take the number madrasas for instance. 3 madrasas used to exist in the years following the independence. In the Congress regime it increased to 137 and under the Left rule, it has become 3,337. How can the somersaults of Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhatacharjee be forgotten so soon? He, during the initial years of his regime, stated that madrasas had by then become bastions of Jihadi terrorism. I did congratulate him personally and officially asked him to destroy the madrasas. But he failed completely. One individual called Madani warned him and he did succumb to the rising pressure. Ranganathan Mishra, once, said that areas like Gardenreach, Khidirpur in Kolkata were no longer fit for humans to live in. What was the reason then? Both the central and state governments almost wept regarding all these but never dared to find out the basic truth. The reason remains in the population explosion among Muslims. Muslims consider West and East Pakistan as fixed deposits but West Bengal as joint account. Muslims are applying three strategies at the moment ââ¬â conversion, infiltration and production. If Hindus have to rise again, they have got to convert themselves to majority community in every place. Hindus must produce more children. Many people accuse me as communal from time to time but I am always ready to accept it with delight. I am a Sannyasi and have nothing to fear. Hindu organizations must come forward to save the country and Hindus from the impending disaster and say Vande Mataram. Abdul Rezzaq Mollah, minister of Left Front Government, said recently that we are no longer football but have become footballer. Hindus have to become footballer in the same manner. Every Hindu Samhati youth must become lion and tiger to attain the aim of making Hindus powerful. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-19-2012 Response of HS leadership to all these was succinct but astute and efficacious at the same instant. Leaders, without fail, stated of the necessity of polarization among Hindus and Muslims. As per them, in the existing state of affairs, Hindu leaders and workers of different political parties must be pondered. Pro and anti Hindu interest must be found out before long and everything must be considered and done strategically. Meeting ended with chanting OM Shanti. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-19-2012 Latest situation in Deganga, 24 Paraganas (North) was also looked into with utmost concern. It is no longer a secret that Hindus and Muslims (enjoying covert support of local administration and political class) there belong to two hostile camps and each desperate act of Muslims plays great role in intensifying the antagonism. A wall has been constructed by administration around the cemetery (Muslim burial ground) in Deganga to stop all nefarious and vicious activities of Muslims. But their increasing demands of more land are adding fuel to the fire only and Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-19-2012 http://hinduactivist.blogspot.com/2012/02/sea-of-humanity-converges-at-hindu.html Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-19-2012 Worship Gopal Pantha ââ¬â be a Gopal Pantha At times stacks of articles on the same subject do appear and people get bored stiff as usual; even if the aim of all these is to make people more conscious. Lots of articles on Direct Action Day, Calcutta, 16 th August 1946, have been published already but the majority of these, if not more, speaks of the same theory. It is to make an appraisal of then administration, role of Hindu and Muslim leadership, what went wrong on the whole and also to malign the Hindus, termed by Marxists as the real troublemakers. Thanks to all these, people accountable for calling Muslim Leagueââ¬â¢s heinous conspiracy to destroy Hindus en bloc a halt were never heeded. They have become unsung heroes of Indian history, especially at its juncture and owing to despondencies of Bengali Hindus, they do not come out in any tête-à-tête too. This gloom must be ended and it can be done through paying homage to Gopal Pantha alias Gopal Mukherjee, savior of Hindus and also one of the most valiant Bengali Hindus in those days. Here is a short bio of Gopal Pantha, called mostly as a notorious goon of North Calcutta and leader of a strong army of 800 young men, 33 years old during the said Calcutta carnage. He was born to a Hindu family of butchers, well-known in the vicinity for running a prosperous slaughter-house of goats. Gopal was also conducting the same business during the juncture of the Indian subcontinent. Now one may enquire meaning of the word ââ¬ÅPanthaââ¬Â. In colloquial Bengali language it is meant for a goat. But the sense of responsibility made him switch his target from goats to Islamic crooks roaming in the streets of Calcutta at random. What happened on Direct Action Day, Calcutta, 16 th August 1946, was no less than any shock to him. Even if Hindus were apprehending something bad, the mammoth meeting, projected as peaceful and amiable in the preceding days, under the aegis of Muslim League (party controlling Bengal Government then), turned out to be a gigantic assemblage of Muslim criminals having sole ambition to annihilate Hindus en masse. Pogrom (better than the word ââ¬Åriotââ¬â¢) started the instant meeting of Muslim League in the heartland of Calcutta ended. And it was nothing other than a bloodbath of Hindus. When the situation went out of control, thanks to Muslim Leagueââ¬â¢s warlords and effete police and administration, Hindus and Sikhs started repelling. The situation is best described in the chronicles of Gopal Pantha himself. He stated in BBC "50 years of Indiaââ¬â¢s independence" without any qualms and with conviction, ââ¬Å I heard that two goalas (milkmen) had been killed in Beliaghata and riots have started in Boubazar ...;it was a very critical time for the country; the country had to be saved. If we become a part of Pakistan, we will be oppressed so I called all my boys and said, this is the time we have to retaliate, and you have to answer brutality with brutality ... We were fighting those who attacked us ... We fought and killed them. So if we heard one murder has taken place, we committed ten more ... the ratio should be one to ten, that was the order to my boys.ââ¬Â It is worthwhile to mention that arms and ammunition were easily available in Calcutta, most prominent military bastion of Allied Forces in South East Asia, those days. How courageous was Gopal? Two anecdotes are enough to depict it. One of these is related to aged Ghulam Rasool, top leader of the Muslim National Guard (terrorist Muslim organisation, connected to Jinnah's Muslim League and liable for most of the Hindu genocide in Bengal) in Calcutta. He, once during those tumultuous days, asked Gopal Pantha to put an end to all bloodshed. He stated with folded hands, ââ¬ÅBahuth khoon bahchuka...hamari tharaf se bhi aur aapki taraf se bhi. Ab is qatl-e-aam ko rokna hoga. Hum aur khoon kharabe ke liye taiyaar nahee hain. Hum ceasefire ke liye taiyaar hain." In short, Muslim strong-armers were overwhelmed by the virility of Hindus, especially Gopal, and were pleading for a ceasefire only. Again, as per S. K. Bhattacharjee, a sub-inspector in the Lalbazar police headquarters, he was very ferocious. A time came when Mahtama Gandhi came to Calcutta and tried to convince Gopal along with other Hindu warriors to surrender their arms. But Gopal Pantha was a harder personality for Gandhiji even and remained defiant. In his own words, "I will not lay down even a nail if it has been used for defending Hindu honour." Why aren't there Gopal Panthas these days? It can only be if Hindu youths conform to the policies of Gopal Pantha and get engaged with physical culture (Shakti Aradhana) instead of wasting time, energy and LIFE. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-19-2012 Durga Puja and the NRIs from Bengal Dr. M Kaushik Islamic extremism is something that America has confronted with only in its recent history. However, there are nations which have been dealing with and many times succumbed to radical Islam for several centuries. These war torn regions in Darfur in Somalia to Bali in Indonesia have been facing the onslaught of jihadi extremism on a daily basis. One such land is Bengal, a northeast region of the Indian Subcontinent at the apex of the Bay of Bengal. A primarily Muslim land, Bengal has a minority Hindu population most of whom live in the Indian state of West Bengal. The Islamic nation of Bangladesh, the home of most Bengalis in the world, is located to the east of West Bengal. In Bengal today the Islamists are violently displacing the Hindu population whose homes and possessions they either destroy or occupy. They are attacking the young, the elderly, and especially the girls and women, whom they kidnap, forcibly convert, or traffic into brothels. The locals are terrified of them. The police rarely come to their aid, nor do the politically correct media or government. Both are terrified by the criminals and terrorists who are riding these immigrant waves. A growing number of young Bengalis settled in US, however, are forming a strong awareness movement aimed at combating this Jihadi menace, using awareness and networking. From organizing seminars to fund raising events, these activists are trying to exert its influence on people around the world, to consolidate the people of Bengali origin, against these Jihadists. Under the banner of FACTUSA, a US registered NGO, these Bengalis have task force teams that proactively follow up on any incident of Islamic atrocity in the villages of Bengal. In several cases of kidnapping of Hindu women, these activists have a 24 hour emergency cell to monitor the situation, informing the media and making several phone calls to the local police station to make sure that something is being done. Take the case of Mouli Sinha, an 8 year old girl who was kidnapped near the Indian border in West Bengal by Muslim youths. As is typical in such cases, Mouliââ¬â¢s parents were poor farmers whereas the kidnappers were goons employed by a local Muslim politician which made sure that nothing was being done to help Mouli. For several weeks both the police and the media was silent until the matter was brought to the attention of FACTUSA activists. A campaign was initiated where several influential Bengali NRIs formed a movement to free Mouli. Like many other third world nation, the justice system is skewed in these backward regions of India in favor of the powerful and the wealthy. Hence, it is only the power and the influence of these NRIs which can salvage the situation of women like Mouli who have no one else to look up to. Finally the police was successfully coerced to take action against the perpetrators. Mouli, brutally raped and forcibly converted to Islam, was finally freed three months later. Every year in the month of October, Bengali Hindus celebrate Durga Puja all over US. Today there are over 50 pujas being celebrated in US each with its own pandal, and deity, and ancient Hindu rituals. However, in these congregations which adequately reflect the Bengali demographics in US, one will find only a handful of Bengalis who are aware of the growth of radical Islam in Bengal, and how it is percolating from Bangladesh to West Bengal. These courageous Bengalis have taken it upon themselves to spread the awareness in the American Bengali community. From architects to programmers, and scientists to engineers, these activists have a full time day job. They all have families and some of them have never been to Bengal in their entire life. But just like the Jewish and the Armenians, they feel a strong sense of connection to their native land, and just like the former, they are passionate to save their land from the Islamic menace. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-19-2012 Hindu Activism outside the Sangh Parivar ââ¬ÅAn RSS manââ¬Â, that is how the Indian media and the Western South Asia scholars label anyone known as or suspected of standing up for Hindu interests. In fact, there have always been Hindu activists outside the RSS Sangh, working as individuals or in smaller organizations. Today, the modernization of Indian society and especially the spread of the internet has facilitated the mushroom growth of new forms and networks of Hindu activism. Most supposed experts refuse to see the existence of Hindu activism outside the Sangh and instead reduce any Hindu sign of life to ââ¬ÅHindutvaââ¬Â (thus incidentally flattering the Sangh). One reason is purely political: in the struggle against Hindu activism as a whole, it is simply more useful to extend all prevalent criticism of the Sangh, e.g. that it murdered Mahatma Gandhi or committed ââ¬Ågenocideââ¬Â in Gujarat 2002, to any and every form of Hindu resistance. It implies that if you hear a Hindu complain about, say, Christian missionary demonization of Hinduism, you must stop him for he is about to commit murder if not genocide. In the Indian media, this kind of innuendo is frequent enough. The main reason, however, seems to be that India-watchers have settled for a conspiratorial explanation of the existence of Hindu activism. In their construction, you first have the Sangh, or its historic core, then you get Sangh propaganda, and as a result of this, you get a belief among large numbers of Hindus that they are suffering various injustices, historical and contemporary. This is the dominant paradigm in Hindutva studies: a Hindutva conspiracy has created for itself a large constituency by means of mendacious propaganda. The existence of multiple independent sources of Hindu activism makes this Hindutva conspiracy theory harder to sustain. It becomes more likely that they had independently noticed a really existing state of affairs, which then aroused their indignation. For example, in numerous media and academic accounts, the Ayodhya controversy is introduced with the explanation: ââ¬ÅHindu nationalists claim that the Babri mosque had been built in forcible replacement of a Hindu templeââ¬Â, or something to that effect. While the Hindu nationalists do indeed assert as much, the formulation falsely insinuates that this ââ¬Åclaimââ¬Â is of the Hindu nationalistsââ¬â¢ making. In fact, that ââ¬Åclaimââ¬Â has been made in all the historic sources that speak out on the matter: Muslim, Hindu and European. Before the controversy became politically important in the 1980s, it was accepted by all competent authorities, e.g. the 1989 edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica. So, the temple vandalization scenario was not a piece of propaganda deliberately floated to plant false consciousness in the minds of the Hindu masses. It had very solid historic credentials, and consequently, divergent people with no mutual organizational connection or common ideological allegiance could independently act upon it. For another example, the ââ¬ÅHindutva claimââ¬Â that the Indian state imposes some and tolerates other injustices against the Hindus, can simply be verified. Thus, when I asked Hindu activists of any stripe in the 1990s what motivated them, practically everyone of them would mention the constitutional exception for the non-Hindu majority state of Jammu & Kashmir (and likewise Nagaland and Mizoram) and the related expulsion of the near-total Hindu community from Kashmir in 1990. Well, has this expulsion taken place or not? From most Western studies of Hindu nationalism, you wouldnââ¬â¢t learn about it, and yet, the answer is that it really has. Moreover, no Indian or Kashmiri government has seriously attempted to resettle the expelled Hindus in their homeland. One need not be duped by a Hindutva conspiracy to notice this fact as well as the injustice of this fact. Consequently, non-Sangh Hindus as well as Sanghis have spoken out against this injustice. If the Sangh had not existed, Hindus would still speak out against this injustice. When the Pope came to India in 1999, the Indian media loudly denounced as ââ¬ÅHindutva paranoiaââ¬Â the assertion that the Church was out to destroy the Indian religions by converting their adherents to Christianity. But of course it is official Church doctrine that only Christians are saved and that out of charity, all Pagans must be converted. Having gone through the Catholic school system myself, that is what I learned from the horseââ¬â¢s mouth. And when the Pope finally opened his mouth in Delhi, he said in so many words that the Church was in Asia in order to ââ¬Åreap a rich harvest of faithââ¬Â, modern Church parlance for the harvesting of Pagan souls. He merely restated a generally known fact, one from which any Hindu could draw his own conclusions without anyhow being compromised with ââ¬ÅHindutva paranoiaââ¬Â. For yet another example, the ââ¬ÅHindutva claimââ¬Â that the absence of a Common Civil Code amounts to ââ¬Åpseudo-secularismââ¬Â, or indeed to a simple absence of secularism in the Personal Law dimension of the Indian state, would have to be acknowledged as more than just a Hindutva claim. It is something that Hindus of all kinds including those hostile to the Sangh, and people of all denominations, can see. Indeed, were it not for the widespread assumption that anything coming from the RSS-BJP must be ââ¬ÅHindu fundamentalistââ¬Â or ââ¬ÅHindu fascistââ¬Â, all international observers would readily concede this point. By definition, a secular state is one that has laws applying to its citizens regardless of their religion. The usual insistence that ââ¬ÅHindu nationalists want to abolish secularismââ¬Â and its implication that the Indian state is indeed secular, cannot stand scrutiny on this score. But admitting this much would upset the entire conceptual framework of Hindutva studies. Anyone desiring to uphold the dominant construction of Hindu nationalism, viz. the Hindutva conspiracy paradigm, logically has an interest in denying or minimizing the existence of independent non-Sangh Hindu activism. But the facts on the ground show increasingly that concerned Hindus are emancipating themselves from this identification of their own work with Hindutva. Some of these start from philosophies different from the nationalistic RSS narrative, others are not ideologically different but want to provide an alternative mode of action to complement or replace an RSS working-style in which they have become disappointed. For indeed, the BJP election defeats in 2004 and 2009 and the steady decline in RSS shakha attendance since 1998 highlight a longer-standing disappointment in Hindu revivalist circles with the Sangh Parivar and its version of Hindu nationalism. The media construed the BJP defeats as ââ¬Åproof that the Indian masses are turning away from Hindu nationalismââ¬Â, when in reality, the former BJP voters have only turned their backs on the betrayers of Hindu nationalism. This disappointment continues to be nurtured by Sangh displays of incompetence, such as the failed textbook rewriting initiatives in India 2000-04 and California 2005-09; and acts of ââ¬Åtreasonââ¬Â such as the NDA governmentââ¬â¢s passivity regarding the Ayodhya temple and the Kashmiri refugees, or its permission of foreign media ownership. Far from abolishing the Hajj subsidies, a financially marginal but highly symbolic instance of ââ¬ÅMuslim appeasementââ¬Â, the Vajpayee government actually increased the Hajj subsidy (hence the nickname given him by his Hindu critics, ââ¬ÅHajpayeeââ¬Â). On each of its distinctive old campaign themes, they had acted just like non-BJP governments had done before and have done since. As former swayamsevak Shrikant Talageri argued in 2000 already, the BJP has proven that ââ¬Åmore foreign agency, anti-nationalism and injustice are possible in India in the name of Hinduism and Hindutva than in the name of Islam and Christianity or Secularism and Leftism. And more dangerous since it is cloaked in the garb of Nationalismââ¬Â. Talageri notes that this government policy was rooted in long-standing RSS mores, viz. a radical non-interest in Indian culture as such, in Indian wildlife, environment, handicrafts etc. (see the RSSââ¬â¢s Western uniform and marching band music), and a mindless reliance on slogans and rumours rather than on serious analysis and principled ideology. While the RSS undoubtedly started out as politically nationalist, its occasional self-description as ââ¬Åcultural nationalismââ¬Â implies a claim on cultural awareness that proves hollow. The RSS has never abandoned the working style introduced by its founder Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, who had been formed by the Revolutionary movement and adopted its secretiveness, discouraging written communication in favour of personal communication through travelling office-bearers. A lot of physical locomotion is a status symbol in the RSS hierarchy, but motion is not action. The numerous RSS self-praise brochures boast about mass campaigns with millions marching, but these have rarely translated into the realization of their stated goals. Thus, the anti-cow-slaughter campaign of the late 1960s achieved nothing, and the Ayodhya campaign in spite of its unprecedented magnitude has not realized the construction of the projected temple even twenty years later. Though it is part of Hindutva culture to deny failure (vide the way the California Hindu parents tried to present the disappointing court verdict in the textbook case as a victory), inevitably at least some people had to draw the logical conclusion from these failures and try something new. This disillusionment with the Sangh is triggering the emergence of new independent centres of Hindu activism. Between such non-Sangh foci in India and similar-minded NRI initiatives, there is little structural connection except for exchanges on internet forums: the loose network is their more modern alternative to the organizational rigidity typical of the Sangh. It must be stated at this point that there has always been a wide array of Hindu activism outside of the Sangh, though often overlapping with the Sanghââ¬â¢s work, and at any rate not standing in the way of cooperation or friendly personal relations. In my experience, Western observers who have started believing their own shrill rhetoric of ââ¬ÅHindu fascismââ¬Â tend to be surprised and shocked and indignant when they see apolitical Hindu dignitaries, praised in East and West for their spiritual qualities and leadership, interact on a friendly basis with the Sangh. Thus, when RSS Sarsanghchalak Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiyya) visited the Netherlands, he first of all went to see the Maharshi Mahesh Yogi in his castle in Vlodrop, to the consternation of reporters for the New Age media, who had lapped up horror stories about the RSS. Likewise, Edward Luce in his book In Spite of the Gods, notes the close cooperation between peacenik celebrity guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and the RSS as if it were a dirty secret and a blot on the Guruââ¬â¢s name. One reason for the Sanghââ¬â¢s respectability among the Hindu masses, though you might not know of it if you only read the expert studies on Hindutva, is its massive presence in social and relief work. After an earthquake, Sangh relief workers are the first to arrive in the disaster area. That doesnââ¬â¢s prove anything about its politics, and could be likened to the motivated social and relief work of the Christian Missions or the Hamas; but at least it ought to be noticed and reported. It helps explain why most criticisms of the Sangh among Hindus are restrained by an acknowledgment of its undeniable merits. But now it is dawning upon an increasing number of Hindu activists that all this charity is no substitute for ideological clarity. Therefore, while they may maintain contact with the Sangh, their initiatives and inspiration are clearly separate and distinct from the Sangh and its ideological line. Many Hindu activists who criticize the Sangh accept the intention of Sangh workers to serve Hindu society, and leave them to pursue this goal by their own lights. Also, sometimes they cannot bypass the relative omnipresence of the Sangh network. And finally, there is no definitive reason why Sangh workers shouldnââ¬â¢t be amenable to developing their understanding beyond the elementary level inculcated by the Sangh. Some Hindu activists, however, have totally given up on the Sangh. Thus, when Muslim groups pressured the Jammu & Kashmir government into reneging on its promise to provide facilities for Hindu pilgrims to Amarnath in 2008, local Hindus in Jammu organised a non-violent protest campaign but purposely kept the Sangh at armââ¬â¢s length. They feared that the RSS with its penchant for control would take the movement over, then with its equally typical craving for certificates of good conduct would abandon and dissolve the campaign in an attempt to prove its ââ¬Åsecularismââ¬Â and ââ¬Åreasonablenessââ¬Â. In the event, the Amarnath campaign, in contrast with so many Sangh campaigns, was successful: the original plan for pilgrim facilities was implemented overruling the Muslim objections. The most pressing occasion for Hindu self-organization cocnsists in threats to their physical security. For quite a while groups have been sprouting here and there that promised to fill the void allegedly created by the Sanghââ¬â¢s insufficient militancy. During the Khalistani terror campaign, Hindus in Panjab started a local ââ¬ÅShiv Senaââ¬Â, disappointed in the way the RSS failed to react in kind when its cadres were targeted for murder by the Khalistanis. On internet forums, you frequently hear Hindus fumble that ââ¬Åif Muslims can get away with terrorism, why donââ¬â¢t we take to the gun, and the bomb?ââ¬Â Thus, a Delhi-based group calling itself the Aryavrt Government and a related outfit called Abhinava Bharat (after an armed revolutionary group in the independence struggle) does advocate paying the enemy back in the same coin. On its website its request for donations is strengthened with this warning: ââ¬ÅElse keep ready for your doom. Remember! Whoever you are, you wonââ¬â¢t be able to save your properties, women, motherland, Vedic culture & even your infants. Choice is yours, whether you stick to dreaded usurper Democracy & get eradicated or survive with your rights upon your property, freedom of faith & life with dignity?ââ¬Â Mostly this is impotent rage by middle-class Hindus who have never seen or touched a gun, but of course the possibility exists that some young lads may act upon it. It has been alleged that the Malegaon bomb attacks in 2006 were committed by such an ad hoc Hindu terrorist group. However, these rare cases of erratic and counterproductive Hindu violence should not obscure the actual need for self-protection in areas where Hindus are indeed prey for anti-Hindu mobs and militias, such as the Bengal border, where illegal Bangladeshi immigrants are trying to push out the Hindu villagers. That is where one sane and disciplined Hindu group for self-protection has come into being: the Hindu Samhati, founded in February 2008 by Tapan Ghosh. Until November 2007, and ever since graduating in Physics and spending three months in jail as a pro-democracy activist during the Emergency, he had been an RSS whole-timer for 31 years. But not seeing the desired results from RSS work, who started out on his own and soon attarcted a following. The groupââ¬â¢s thrid anniversary celebration was attened by 14,000 people. It can already claim many successes on its local scale, such as protecting young couples where one of the partners is a Muslim joining a Hindu family, or ensuring the safety of Hindu festivals, which had become difficult to celebrate due to increasing Muslim harassment. The one name towering over the whole field of non-Sangh Hindu activism is that of historian and publisher Sita Ram Goel (1921-2003), Gandhian then Marxist in his young days, later anti-Communist and finally reborn Hindu. In 1957 he stood unsuccessfully as a candidate for the embryonic Swatantra Party (with whose founder Minoo Masani he cooperated in anti-Communist activism) on a Jana Sangh ticket for the Khajuraho seat. He subsequently contributed some articles to the RSS mouthpiece Organiser, until the RSS leadership intervened to have him expelled from its pages for being too unkind to Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The stated reason was that if Nehru were ever murdered, criticism of Nehru in their own pages would cause them to get the blame. In the 1980s Goel was re-invited to contribute, until he was again expelled, this time for being too unkind to Islam. (It is routinely assumed that the RSS preaches hatred of Islam; but I award my bottom dollar to anyone who can show me an instance from the editorials of Organiser. And I will award it again for an authentic quotation from a Sangh leader that is more anti-Muslim than the revered Dr. Ambedkarââ¬â¢s book Pakistan or the Partition of India.) As a book author and publisher, he also had to deal with the Sangh, e.g. when he had to straighten out the BJPââ¬â¢s initially very muddled White Paper on Ayodhya. So, it is not as if he boycotted the Sangh, in spite of their treatment of him. Yet his judgement of them was merciless. In writing, he diplomatically limited himself to intimating that ââ¬Åin the history of an organization, there comes a point when its original goal gets overshadowed by its concerns for itselfââ¬Â. But when speaking, he was much blunter. In the presence of myself and of prominent witnesses, he said for example: ââ¬ÅThe RSS is the biggest collection of duffers that ever came together in world historyââ¬Â (1989), ââ¬ÅThe RSS is leading Hindu society into a trap from which it may not recoverââ¬Â (1994), ââ¬ÅHindu society is doomed unless this RSS-BJP movement perishesââ¬Â (2003). Goelââ¬â¢s main criticism of the Sangh concerns its anti-intellectual prejudice, its refusal to analyze hostile ideologies, hence its lapse into emotionalism and erratic policies. Thus, instead of reactive anti-Muslim outbursts after every act of Islamic terrorism, he posits the need for an ideological critique of the Islamic belief system, equipped with all the methods and findings of modern scholarship: ââ¬ÅThe problem is not Muslims but Islam.ââ¬Â The difference is that those who refuse such critique (and that is the case of the RSS) has no one but the physical Muslim population to vent its anger on whenever another act of Islamic violence occurs. This way, a more incisive deconstruction of Islamic belief translates into less violence against actual Muslims. (The converse is also true: George W. Bush and Tony Blair have spoken out in praise of Islam but killed a great many Muslims.) Goel and his mentor Ram Swarup (1920-98) took inspiration from the British liberal tradition of Bertrand Russell, George Bernard Shaw and George Orwell, even before rediscovering the Hindu debating tradition of Yajnavalkya and Shankara. For them, free debate was a matter of course. Hindutva organizations, by contrast, in the Sangh as well as some new ones like the Hindu Jagruti Samiti, react to every insulting book or film or painting with calls for a ban, perfectly echoing Islamic organizations demanding a ban on the Danish cartoons or The Satanic Verses. Calls for banning unpalatable opinions stem from an inability to meet the challenge intellectually, which was never Shankaraââ¬â¢s problem but is very much the Sanghââ¬â¢s. Some NRI-PIO organizations created in the 21st century explicitly adopt their line. One is the Hindu Human Rights group in London, founded by a streetwise performing artist, Arjun Malik along with writer Ranbir Singh. His answer to the humourless RSS and its equally humourless secularist critics is to ââ¬Åput the fun back into fundamentalismââ¬Â. The HHR publishes an on-line paper and occasionally stages demonstrations on matters of Hindu concern, such as human rights in Bangladesh. On the challenge of the Christian missions, it has monitored and promoted scholarly studies, outgrowing the simplistic Hindutva positions current in India and the diaspora, which tend to confuse ââ¬ÅChristianââ¬Â with ââ¬Åwhiteââ¬Â, as if the world and the Churches hadnââ¬â¢t changed since decolonization. It interacts critically with the official pan-Hindu platforms and with the British multiculturalism authorities. These sometimes solicit its views, knowing that it represents a really existing and growing segment of opinion in the British Hindu community. Typically, the HHR sometimes cooperates with Muslim organizations on matters of common concern, all while staying away from the usual Hindu platitude that ââ¬Åall religions essentially say the same thingââ¬Â. Human understanding does not require suspension of the mental power of discrimination. The second similarly inspired initiative in the diaspora is based in Houston. Like the HHR, it also explores contacts with post-Christian spiritual tendencies in Western society and encourages Hindus to transcend the ââ¬Åracismââ¬Â many of them display vis-à-vis Black, White and East-Asian population they encounter abroad. Quite a few Hindu individuals and local Hindu temple associations in North America also evince or acknowledge some influence from this line of thought. Ram Swarupââ¬â¢s idea of a common inspiration and interest between all traditional religions, jointly targeted for conversion by the ââ¬Åpredatoryââ¬Â religions Christianity and Islam, has also gained a following mainly through Hindu leaders based outside India. Swami Dayananda Saraswati (based in Coimbatore and in Saylorsburg PA) has been building bridges with the Jewish community, culminating in a joint Jerusalem Declaration with the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger. It also has penetrated the Sangh in the initiative for cooperation with Native American, Yoruba, Maori and other traditional religionists, the World Council for the Elders of Ancient Traditions and Cultures founded by US-based pracharak Dr. Yashwant Pathak. In India too, these ideas have been picked up in independent as well as in Sangh-related centres of Hindu awareness and activism. The influence is palpable in some publications of the Vigil Public Opinion Forum and of the Centre for Policy Studies, both in Chennai. Then again, in India the strictly nationalist viewpoint, with increasing anti-Western overtones, still seems to prevail against the universalistic critique of hostile religions and ideologies as pioneered by Ram Swarup and S.R. Goel. Thus, consider the title of an otherwise well-crafted study of NGO activities and financing by Vigil authors Radha Rajan and Krishan Kak: NGOs, Activists and Foreign Funds: Anti-Nation Industry (2006). Its main stated focus is on anti-national rather than anti-Hindu activities, in the mould of the RSS rhetoric about Babar as a ââ¬Åforeignââ¬Â (rather than Muslim) invader and Rama as a ââ¬Ånationalââ¬Â (rather than a Hindu) hero. In some cases, as in Sandhya Jainââ¬â¢s online medium Vijayvaani, this goes as far as supporting Muslim causes against the West, not too different from the traditional Congressite line exemplified by Nehruââ¬â¢s support to Nasser. In the case of Hindutva, nationalism is proving to be the last resort of blockheads unable to construe conflicts and power equations in ideological terms. While Christianity has changed race several times in its history (from Levantine to North-African and South-European to North-European to non-white), and while most missionaries in India are now non-white and generally Indian-born, Hindutva polemicists keep on ranting against ââ¬Åwhite racist Christian missionsââ¬Â. This saves them the trouble of studying the scholarly critique of Biblical truth claims and the challenge of arguing the religious case for Hinduism and against Christianity with fellow Indians who happen to be Christian. One very useful experience of NRIs and PIOs in their non-Indic surroundings is that religious issues exist in their own right, by virtue of the distinctive mores inculcated and the truth claims of religions, and regardless of the ethnic origin of a religionââ¬â¢s followers. The modern identification of Sanatana Dharma with the geographical entity India, explicitly proposed by Hindutva ideologues, is negated by the NRI-PIOsââ¬â¢ experience, where Hindu traditions turn out to remain meaningful even after being severed from their geographical cradle. This makes them more receptive to the universalistic understanding of Hindu tradition as expounded by Goelââ¬â¢s mentor Ram Swarup and by some globe-trotting Gurus. Most post-Sangh centres of Hindu activism avoid overdoing their quarrel with the Sangh. It just happens to be there, to be very large, and to attract the loyalty of numerous well-meaning fellow-Hindus. Also, its effectiveness in the many local centres of activity is highly dependent upon the individual qualities of the local Sangh workers. So, inter-Hindu infighting among activists is largely avoided. One prozaic reason is that criticism has never had a noticeable effect on the Sangh leadership, another is the common-sense realization that darkness is best fought not by decrying it but by lighting a lamp of your own. Extrapolating from present trends, the future is probably that alternative centres of Hindu activism will grow and prove successful in their respective fields of activity, and that the Sangh will transform itself and correct its course under the impact of their example. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-19-2012 Dr. Richard Benkin speaks on 3 rd Anniversary of Hindu Samhati People often ask me why I have dedicated myself to fighting for the Hindus of Bangladesh. After all, I am not a Hindu; I am Jewish. And I am not South Asian but American. So what is a non-Hindu, non-NRI (non-resident Indian) American doing here in Kolkata today? There are so many ways to answer this question. I could talk about my love of the Hindu people and how knowing India has made me a better person; or I could speak about the imperative for people everywhere to stop violent jihad; but I most often begin this way. What if you found yourself in Nazi Germany in the 1930s, or more recently in Darfur? You might have looked around and thought, ââ¬ËSomethingââ¬â¢s wrong. Somethingââ¬â¢s terribly wrong. You can see that. Iââ¬â¢m afraid that something really bad is about to happen, and no one seems to be doing anything to stop it.ââ¬â¢ Knowing what you know now, what would you have done? Gone about your life, pretending that you didnââ¬â¢t see what you saw? Or would you do everything in your power to stop the impending atrocity and save the lives of so many innocent people? Would it have mattered if you were not Jewish or African? We here today do not have to guess at what our answer should be. We have the lessons of history. Because of the Holocaust and what happened in places like Darfur, we know what will happenââ¬âand it is about to happen again. Bangladeshââ¬â¢s Hindu population is dying. This is not opinion or ââ¬ÅIslamaphobia,ââ¬Â or anything else people want to call it to deny reality. Itââ¬â¢s a fact. At the time of Indiaââ¬â¢s partition in 1948, Hindus made up just under a third of East Pakistanââ¬â¢s population. When East Pakistan became Bangladesh in 1971, they were less than a fifth; thirty years later, less than one in ten; and many put todayââ¬â¢s Hindu population at less than eight percent. Professor Sachi Dastidar from the State University of New York estimates that about 49 million Hindus are missing from the Bangladeshi census. Still having trouble wondering where this is going? Take a look at Pakistan where a once robust Hindu population is down to one percent or Kashmir where Hindus are almost extinct. Take a look at the future of Bangladeshââ¬â¢s Hindus if we do not act. Yet, in this topsy-turvy world, it is WE who have to prove that there is something wrong. What kind of sense does that make? One would expect justice to demand that the BANGLADESHIS explain why they should not be charged with complicity in eliminating an entire people numbering in the tens of millions. That very presumption should tell us why we cannot rest until WE stop this atrocityââ¬âcompletely and forever! The world pretends that those numbers do not exist, and as it does reports of atrocities against the Bangladeshi Hindus flow like a waterfall. Every day we read about murders, gang rapes, assaults, forced conversions to Islam, child abductions, religious desecration. Bangladeshi officials might object that the perpetrators of these crimes are private citizens not members of the government, but they are equally guilty nonetheless. By half-heartedly pursuing only a token few of these cases and punishing even fewer perpetrators, the government of Bangladesh has given its tacit approval for these atrocities and sent that messages to both the ethnic cleansers and the ethnically cleansed. Moreover, government officials actually have participated in many of the attacks. In 2009, for instance, there was an anti-Hindu pogrom in the Bangladeshi capital of Dhakaââ¬âright behind a police station with police present. Police on the scene justified the carnage with none other than the Vested Property Act. Bangladeshi-approved legalized plunder of its Hindu population and for more than three decades, the economic engine that drives this quiet case of ethnic cleansing. Later, officials including the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner and Awami League Members Parliament (Jatiyo Sangsad) carried out a cover up in an attempt to keep the pogrom a secret. If I can verify evidence of these atrocities and the governmentââ¬â¢s collusion from my home all the way in Chicago, the very notion that Sheikh Hasina does not know about them would be laughable were it not deadly! I have spoken with hundreds of Bangladeshi Hindu refugees living in largely illicit colonies throughout North and Northeast India. In describing the attacks that forced them to leave their ancestral homes, they made it clear that their attackers were not necessarily radicals, but neighbors; everyday Muslims. They also said with near unanimity that when they went to the police and other officials for help, they were ordered to drop the subjectââ¬âor elseââ¬âand to ââ¬Åget out of Bangladesh.ââ¬Â I will never forget one family I interviewed in 2009 only 22 after they crossed into India. They told me about an uncle being killed, the father beaten, and their small farm being invaded by a large number of Muslims who forced them to flee. I also looked into the eyes of their 14-year-old daughter as she talked about being gang raped by them. Who did it? Not al Qaeda or Jamaat; but simply Muslims who lived in the area and knew they could have their way with the family, seize their land, and get away with it. And that is chilling because history has shown that the most ââ¬Åsuccessfulââ¬Â cases of genocide and ethnic cleansing occur when a small cadre of true believers incites average citizens to engage in heinous acts against a targeted minority; acts they otherwise would not dream of committing. There might be no Gestapo or Janjaweed in Bangladesh, but its Hindu community faces the same fate as their victims did. Some might argue that we should not bring religion into this, that religion should not be important in this discussion. Perhaps that is trueââ¬âin theoryââ¬âbut let us be clear that this girl was not raped and, oh by the way, she happened to be a Hindu. She was raped because she was a Bangladeshi Hindu and therefore not subject to the usual protections of the law. And the men did not rape her and, oh by the way, they happened to be Muslim. They knew they could rape that little girl and get away with it because they were Bangladeshi Muslims. We were not the ones who injected religion into this. So if anyoneââ¬â¢s sensibilities are offended, they need to address that with those who did. Not surprisingly, the election of a supposedly pro-minority Awami League government in Bangladesh has done nothing to stop the atrocities; if anything, they are getting worse. In April 2009, Sheikh Hasina did a most amazing thing. A French delegation was in Dhaka to visit the new Bangladeshi Prime Minister who told them that her government would repeal all of the countryââ¬â¢s anti-minority laws. Did she realize what she was saying? Here we have the Prime Minister of Bangladesh admitting that her nation in fact has anti-minority laws. Bangladeshi officials usually retreat behind the empty promises of religious equality in their nationââ¬â¢s constitution, but not that day. The Prime Minister was saying that these are not merely the crimes of a few bad actors but that discrimination against Hindus and others is enshrined in Bangladeshââ¬â¢s legal system! And did she repeal those laws as she promised? No; even though she could have done so. Letââ¬â¢s take the Vested Property Act as an example. Late in 2008, Bangladeshââ¬â¢s Supreme Court challenged the government to explain why that racist law should not be repealed and the stolen property returned to its rightful owners. The military government at the time deliberately did not respond, in part, as its representatives told me, because making changes to the law exceeded its mandate as a caretaker. But they did this knowing that their non-action made it easy for the soon-to-be elected government to have the Vested Property Act dumped with a simple court appearance. But that never happened. Instead of action, we get excuses; and the excuses have not stopped a single atrocity; neither have the current governmentââ¬â¢s empty promises. In fact, it does not matter whether the openly Islamist BNP or the more secretly complicit Awami League ruled Bangladesh. Both have been passive bystanders, failingââ¬âor refusingââ¬âto exercise their sovereign responsibility to protect the life and security of all their citizens; and both have shared in the spoils of stolen Hindu property. Thus they have sent radical Islamists and common citizens alike a clear message that these acts can be undertaken with impunity, and the victims can expect no justice. So we have to ask ourselves: What kind of world is this when people listen to their excuses and wait for actions that they know will not come? The Bangladeshis admit that these things occur but ask us to ââ¬Åunderstandââ¬Â the ââ¬Ådifficultiesââ¬Â they face. They want us to believe that they would like to do the right thing but are afraid of the political consequences. And we give credence to such nonsense while millions are brutalizedââ¬âor even worse! It is hard to say whose actions are more cowardly. With Bangladeshââ¬â¢s admittedly discriminatory laws strong as ever, what nation or international entity has called Sheikh Hasina on her April 2009 duplicity? What nation has said that it cannot do business with a country that openly and officially discriminates against its own citizens who, oh by the way just happen to be Hindu? When did Amnesty International or the UN Human Rights Commission protest? What about the United States, or India? Never; and it is our responsibility to make sure they do. Because if we do not, no one else will, count on it, and we will see an end to the Bangladeshi Hindus in our lifetime! Despite all of this evidence, it falls to us to connect the dots and draw the simple pictures that the international talking heads need to recognize what we see right before us; and that is simply the reality we face. Our challenge is to get the world to recognize this quiet case of ethnic cleansing; mass murder without concentration camps or killing fields; and to act! So, what do we do? First of all, we do not look for somebody else to stop the violence. It will not happen. Instead, I want each person here to ask this: Knowing that the Bangladeshi Hindus are being brutalized and worse, what kind of person am I if I do not do everything in my power to help them? I grow weary of attending meeting after meeting, seminar after seminar, with everyone feeling oh so good about themselves, only to see the same people shake the same ineffective fists at the same enemies. We need to stop shaking our fists and do something! Insanity has been defined as doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. That is, no matter how much we ââ¬Åcare,ââ¬Â whatever people have done thus far has not worked. If we are to save the lives of our brothers and sisters, we have to think and act strategicallyââ¬âand, why not, our enemies do. There is an old expression, ââ¬Ålight is the best disinfectantââ¬Â; that is, we assume that if people are forced to confront the reality of these atrocities, they will do something about it. The government of Bangladesh and the forces of violent jihad benefit from the lack of ââ¬Ålightââ¬Â on their anti-Hindu assault. It allows international powers that be to ignore the matter and focus on pretty much anything else. We need to correct that. It is also clear that South Asian realties have somehow impeded area governments from taking the lead in defending the defenseless and giving voice to the voiceless. As an American, I look to my own country where we do not have to concern ourselves with these ââ¬Årealitiesââ¬Â and instead can live up to the ideals of freedom and justice that are at the core of who we are as a nation and people. But we cannotââ¬âand should notââ¬âdo it alone. When I speak to other Americans about the Bangladeshi Hindus, I often hear: ââ¬ËWell, if things are as dire as you say they are, why are we not hearing anything from the Hindus themselves; or from India?ââ¬â¢ It is a pretty powerful argument. We can understand if the refugees and other victims do not feel empowered to speak out, but we also know that there are many who can. There is a large NRI (Non-Resident Indian) population making waves throughout the world, but never about this issue. There are also plenty people inside India who can raise their voices through various legal means and let the government and media know that they will not stand for the continued murder of the Bangladeshi Hindus; that if they are not listened to today, they will return tomorrow, and next week, and next year, and so on and so on and will do so until their anguished cries become too loud to ignore. It took little more than that sort of notoriety to rouse consciences over Darfur, and in an earlier era Biafra. And unlike those African populations, Indians can boast prominent members in positions of power and influence throughout the world. For instance, the governors of two US states (Louisiana and South Carolina) are both of Indian descent; not to mention prominent entrepreneurs and innovators like the Hindu inventors of the Pentium processor or one of the leading candidates to succeed American tycoon and pundit Warren Buffet. Take note, too, that the genocide in Darfur would not have grabbed the worldââ¬â¢s attention as it did were it not for celebrity George Clooney. Why canââ¬â¢t that work for this issue? If we refuse to be silenced about what is happening, it could stir celebrity activists like soon to be Hindus Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, or Hindu Julia Roberts whose notoriety would shine that disinfecting light on these atrocities. And with all due respect to our neighbors just east of here, we are talking about Bangladesh, after all, not China or Iran. Bangladesh is a nation with such an array of dependencies and vulnerabilities that finding a way to force an end to the atrocities is not difficult; for we must be clear: There is no internal dynamic among Bangladeshi leaders to stop attacks on their Hindu citizens. The only way it will stop is if some outside force ââ¬Åconvincesââ¬Â them to stop. Those who thought that the current Awami government has that internal dynamic learned that their ââ¬Ågive them timeââ¬Â approach did nothing but increase the tally of victims. Giving it any more time now will ensure even more brutalities. Those Bangladeshi vulnerabilities are called ââ¬Åpressure pointsââ¬Â in Washington, and there are several. The most significant is trade. In 2008, the United States imported $3.74 billion worth of goods from Bangladeshââ¬âor 26.5 percent of all of that countryââ¬â¢s exports. Making that even more powerful is the fact that Bangladesh had a $3.25 billion trade surplus with the US that year. For perspective, thatââ¬â¢s an amount equal to 30 percent of Bangladeshââ¬â¢s entire national budget. Now imagine what it would mean to the Bangladesh government if that number droppedââ¬âor what it would mean if it grew! Do you see the power that we have? When I first encountered Bangladeshi officials in Washington many years back, their number one goal was to win a Free Trade Agreement with the United States. Not only has that not happened thanks to the unrelenting work of a lot of good people, but we also have defeated several attempts to grant Bangladesh tariff reduction to increase its exports to the United States. We have done it all on human rights grounds and despite the efforts of Bangladesh and its lobbyists. I can tell you as well that US businesses are not going to buy products from a country that is guilty of ethnic cleansingââ¬âor more to the point that their customers know is guilty of ethnic cleansing. And lawmakers are not going to award it any tariff relief for such a country either. So how do you gain control of that situation? First, monitor the legislation, which I have been doing; second, make sure your contacts in Washington become aware the facts, which I also am doing; third, enough prominent people need to see how serious an issue it is. That goes back to us making a noise loud enough here to be heard in Washington and other capitals; a noise so loud that the media cannot ignore it and remain credible. In the United States, Hindus and others need to contact lawmakers and register their outrage at what is being done to innocent people in Bangladeshââ¬âsomething we expect will happen more in 2011. We have a very ambitious agenda for 2011. Loud and visible outrage from Hindus here and in the US will make success more likely and that disinfecting light more powerful. It will help Bangladeshis recognize that they only have to protect all of their own citizens in order to end the opposition and benefit over 150 million people. It sounds simpler than it is, but it does give you a good idea of how to tie economics to moral behavior. Bangladesh is also heavily invested in advertising itself as a ââ¬Åmoderate Muslim country.ââ¬Â We know that Bangladeshi Muslims are traditionally just that. But we also know that over the last few decades they have come more and more under the control of radical jihadis. Few Americans know that now but once they do will ask how a country can call itself ââ¬Åmoderateââ¬Â and wage jihad against its non-Muslim citizens? Again, that recognition will not come by itself; it will not happen just because we believe we are right. We have to shine that light so bright that Bengalââ¬â¢s Hindus can be ignored no longer. Who knows what two nations contribute the greatest number of troops to UN peacekeeping missions; what two economies are bolstered more than any other by payments for these services? The answer is Pakistan and Bangladesh, which averaged over 10,000 troops each every month in 2010. By contrast, India averaged 8,815 and the United States 86. The Bangladeshi economy is so dependent on those receipts that the threat of losing them was the real reason behind Bangladeshââ¬â¢s 2007 military coup. There is no reason why we cannotââ¬âexcuse me, there is no reason why we should notââ¬âchallenge the United Nations over its support of ethnic cleansing. There is no reason why we cannot mount an effortââ¬âwith the help of our nationsââ¬â¢ leadersââ¬âto have the UN de-certify this ethnic cleanser for participation in peacekeeping missions. And that is an effort I hope to start this year. These are just a few examples of what we can do to stop atrocities that we know are being committed against Bangladeshââ¬â¢s Hindus with government complicity. And they are not just for the United States. Bangladeshi exports to Australia, for instance, jumped 176 percent between 2007 and 2008 and Bangladeshââ¬â¢s exports to India are expected to hit $1 billion in 2011. There is a new human rights organization, Forcefield, and its entire Board of Directors is up here today to stand with you. We might not have the financial resources or name recognition of an Amnesty International but what we do have is real passion for the few causes we can take on. And we have something else that the others do not: a formal commitment to fight for the Bangladeshi Hindus and end the atrocities being perpetrated against them. We, of course, cannot do it alone, and we need your help. Please join us through our web site, http://www.forcefieldnow.org. Join us in this fight for our lives. As I noted earlier, the first step in achieving all thatââ¬âfrom the public support of celebrities to action from Washington and other capitalsââ¬âis that disinfecting light. And there are things we can both do. I am making progress in getting the US Congress to hold hearings about this; hearings that will raise this issue in the national consciousness and start some major media attention. From there, we can move to those other areas like trade and peacekeeping troops. From here, you can start a similar effort to force attention on their plight with large public demonstrations, events that will grab press and public attention, and the sort of relentless effort that refuses to stop after a single event. Press your case as if your life depended on it; certainly the lives of our brothers and sisters do. I propose to our hostsââ¬âright here and right nowââ¬âa new beginning; a joint task forceââ¬âHindu Samhati and Forcefield; Tapan Ghosh and Richard Benkinââ¬âdedicated to saving the Bangladeshi Hindus; a task force committed to action, not words, to events, not meetings; to results not efforts; and to organizing all of you into a great movement such as we have not seen. It is way past time for the world to see and hear some collectiveââ¬âand loudââ¬âIndian and Hindu outrage at what is being done to our brothers and sisters in Bangladesh. You live in the worldââ¬â¢s largest democracy where you enjoy the freedoms to express yourselves freely and within the law. At times, I believe, people have been stopped by their own fear, which we need to push aside. Consider, too, that if officials here in Kolkata or New Delhi wanted to stop todayââ¬â¢s event, they could have. At times, I know, the task seems daunting, and I can answer that, if you will excuse the expression from this vegetarian. Do you know how to eat an elephant? (pause) One bite at a time. Let us start today, working together for those small victories that will lead to larger ones. We can do it! You can do it! I want to thank Tapan Ghosh and Hindu Samhati for the honor of being here with my brothers and sisters. I also want to thank three people who are with me today and as such with you, too: Miriam Jones from Australia, and Amitabh Tripathi and Bikash Halder from Bharat. Do not let anyone tell you that you are too ââ¬Åsmallââ¬Â or too ââ¬Åaloneââ¬Â to make a difference. It just is not so. We are living proof of that. Do not let anyone tell you that the only way to get peopleââ¬â¢s attention is with a lot of money or influence. That, too, is a lie, and we are living proof of it. No, you do not need all of that. What you do need is a just cause and the dedication and determination not to let ANYBODY stand in the way of a just end. Islamic Jihadism In West Bengal - G.Subramaniam - 09-19-2012 Religious atrocities on Hindus in West Bengal unabated The plight of the Bangladeshi Hindus originally drew me to West Bengal, and their deteriorating situation keeps me coming back to areas where I can meet with the victims in their semi-licit and semi-safe havens. Unfortunately, throughout much of Indiaââ¬â¢s fourth most populous state, even Hindus native to the country cannot expect basic legal protections from police and other authorities. While some have offered various explanations for this injustice, we shall let them argue over that and not let political wrangling divert us from the heart of the matter: real people whose victimization and lack of protection trump any political justifications, theoretical arguments, and disingenuous defenses raised in an attempt to deny the reality. Last September, there was an anti-Hindu riot not far from the West Bengal capital of Kolkata. Marauding Muslims destroyed Hindu shops and homes in Deganga and contrary to initial reports, molested several women. Their immediate aim was to force a longstanding Hindu temple off land they determined to seize for their mosque; but as West Bengal political leader Tathagata Roy noted, their real objective was ââ¬Åto cleanse the area of Hindus [and] totally Islamize the area.ââ¬Â I visited Deganga five months after the violence and observed that the rioters were achieving that goal. The remaining Hindu residents told us that many of their co-religionists had already fled, and most of them were contemplating the same course of action. Unchecked violence from Muslims was bad enough, local and state authoritiesââ¬â¢ refusal to stop it left them alienated and defenseless. At the riotsââ¬â¢ outbreak, government forces deployed along the main road, but when the criminals reacted by attacking errant homes and villages in the interior, the troops did not follow. That allowed the Muslim rioters to savage Hindu communities with impunity. By the time of my fact-finding mission, Hindus had rebuilt most the demolished brick structures but not the sense of security they once had. They fear going to market or school, and women in particular are subjected to incessant harassment. Numerous requests to the authorities for protection have gone unanswered. Not far from Deganga lies the less accessible village of Norit, close enough to the Kolkata for local and State authorities to protect its Hindu residentsââ¬âif they want to do so. Certainly, if I could get there, they can; and I did, making my way to Norit in the late afternoon on February 17, 2011 accompanied by Tapan Ghosh and Animitra Chakraborty of Hindu Samhati, a Hindu advocacy group, and by my fellow Forcefield board members, Miriam Guttman-Jones and Amitabh Tripathi. For what seemed like hours, we heard testimony after testimony of anti-Hindu attacks and the governmentââ¬â¢s passive complicity. ââ¬ÅIt seems as if everyone has a story to tell,ââ¬Â I remarked. These anti-Hindu attacks have become more frequent over the last two years along with a ââ¬Åtremendous rise in Islamic fundamentalismââ¬Â and aggressive block voting by Muslims. Up until two years ago, villagers told us, Hindu children had been able to play soccer, cricket, and other games unmolested in a field on the village outskirts. Now, however, when they attempt to play, neighboring Muslim men converge on them and attack. This normally happens when most adult Hindu men are away working and the mothers are left to defend their children. Making no distinction for age or gender, however, the men beat, bite, and attack them with bamboo sticks or lathis. Many women who described this also showed us the consequent wounds and permanent disabilities, many of which were treated in area hospitals. Police intervened in one case but charged both communities with violence and told them to ââ¬Ålive in peaceââ¬Â; drawing a false moral equivalency between attackers and defenders. Nice sentiment, but difficult to realize when one party gets to attack the othersââ¬â¢ children with impunity. Two elderly women in the village described being beaten while only observing the fray from well outside it. One showed us how the attackers broke her spine, kicking her repeatedly while she was on the ground. The other testified to being thrown into a pond and then beaten some more. Another woman claimed to have been dragged by her hair and beaten severely about the head. She spent over a week in the hospital and still suffers constant pain. The testimony went on for some time painting a very clear picture of a village where the residents live in fear of attack and official inaction. Several spoke about home invasions and attempted abduction of women and children. The most poignant testimony came from the mother and uncle of 21-year-old Matamata Dutta, who was abducted more than five weeks prior to our visit. It would be difficult for anyone with even a modicum of empathy to remain unmoved as her mother described the girlââ¬â¢s abduction. The real story, however, is how others apparently can. Matamatââ¬â¢s family filed a formal complaint with the police who have refused to start a case or help the mother recover her daughter. They turned to Hindu Samhati. Tapan Ghosh personally delivered a formal report of the incident to the district administration in Howrah and also reported it to the West Bengal Human Rights Commission. Neither one responded. In fact, the family reports being threatened with serious consequences whenever in desperation they go to the local police station to plead their case. Local Muslims are now threatening to abduct ââ¬Åmore Hindu girls,ââ¬Â knowing they can do so with impunity. Unfortunately, Matamataââ¬â¢s case is not a unique one. The abduction of Hindu girls and women of childbearing age has been common in Bangladesh for decades. That we are seeing them in West Bengal now substantiates claims that jihad has crossed the border into India. These abductions deliberately reduce the Hindu gene pool and contribute to a demographic cleansing of non-Muslim populations. At the very least, we should wonder why the authorities refuse even to investigate thus very serious matter seriously and demand that they do so, even though the miscreants now have a six week head start. |
