Carter had to sign an Oath

Former U.S President Jimmy Carter revealed on Friday that he had to sign a personal undertaking that an international Charity Habitat for Humanity would not engage in religious conversion activities before the group was allowed to build houses for the poor in India. Mr. carter said he had given this undertaking to then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. 

Mr. Carter who will be in Mumbai to witness construction of small homes by Habitat for Humanity ,said the group had approached him in the U.S to intercede with the Government of India on its behalf.Though a former President,he had taken up the matter with Mr. Gandhi who asked him to sign the oath that there would be no proselytization activities. 

I strongly doubt the christos will abide by this promise. When have christos ever honored their promises, and behaved ethically? Even historically the popes - the highest religious office in the catholic tradition - have all been chronic liars.

Even if one were to assume that Jimmy Carter intends to keep his word of no proselytizing, because he's a high-profile public figure and will not want to damage his reputation by being caught in such controversies, the same cannot be said of all those 1000s of volunteers coming to work on this poject.

Many of these 'volunteers' will be from the loony-farm churches in the US and Europe, who will sneak in the bible and cross in their corsets, and use every opportunity to conduct Gospel 101 course to the poor and the vulnerable living in that area, subtly, or even openly if given a chance.

Even the Red Cross, which projects itself as a secular humanitarian outfit, has been known for its volunteers handing out bibles in many places along with pints of blood.

The problem is tracking down the whereabouts of these volunteers once they descend into India for the project. Many of them might overstay their visa deadline, and disappear somewhere into rural India to engage in conversions, as has been the case in the past with several American evangelists who were found staying illegally in AP to proselytize - with of course the blessings of the CM Samuel Reddy.

Besides, the promise was made to Rajiv G, who is no more; it's his christo wife Antonia who calls the shots now.

Neither the dictatorship of Pakistan, nor the democracy of India gives us a credible basis for hope. Neither the secularism of the Indian National Congress, nor the religiosity of Hindutva inspires confidence that sinners can build a civilized South Asia. Yet, the kingdom of God means to be âborn again into a living hopeâ (1 Peter 1:3).

South-Asiaâs Confused Church

When our church leaders talk of action for peace and justice, I often feel that they are turning Godâs church into a useless appendix of liberal, secular humanists who have destroyed our democracies by turning them into âmajority-rule.â The Church is under no obligation to join the chattering class, which has hijacked the biblical idea of human rights and destroyed its metaphysical foundations. The pulpitâs duty is to teach the revealed worldview that can still save our tottering democracies. The Churchâs primary task is to proclaim the Lordship of Christ. There will be no justice and peace until the authorities and the majorities, are bound by the transcendent law of God. The rulers of our nations have to be taught to fear the wrath of the lamb (Rev. 6:16-17). He has come to establish his kingdom on earth. He is the ruler of the kings of the earth (Rev. 1:5).

How Secular Humanism Won South Asia

The biblical worldview did not result in an education revolution only in Europe and America. It also revolutionized India. From Charles Grantâs letter to John Wesley (1786-87) to Sir Charles Woodâs Educational Despatch (1854), the movement to educate India was led by the British evangelicals. (Incidentally, if any of you is an aspiring writer looking for a story to write, I would recommend that you write the story of Charles Grant, âThe Greatest Englishman that Ever Livedâ [from the point of view of the people of South Asia]. This most important player in South Asiaâs modernization has been forgotten, because he was neither a missionary, nor a Governor General of India.)

Unfortunately the university movement began in 1858 â the year of the great Mutiny or Indiaâs âFirst War of Independenceâ as some prefer to call it. Substantial blame for the mutiny was put on the missionary movement: that in their zeal to reform India, the missionaries had upset Indiaâs socio-religious leadership. Once the responsibility of governing India was taken from the East India Company in 1858 and given to the Parliament, it was decided that the government would not disturb the religious sentiments of the people. The self-interest of the British Raj forbade universities from teaching truth. So although, until that point, reforming and educating South Asians had been a Christian agenda and most secular humanists had been indifferent, if not actually opposed to the education of the ânativesâ, once the universities began they got the right to promote secular humanism. (That is, Christian values without the biblical worldview.) This undermined the possibility of building enduring freedom and human rights in South Asia.

The Crux of South Asiaâs Crisis

The world has a right to ask: can Islamic, Hindu or secular traditions provide spiritual resources for a just settlement? If not, then those who want a civilized society must seek a spirituality that is capable of bringing repentance, forgiveness and reconciliation.

This is a collection of very disturbing articles about increased Christian activities in and around Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (famously) known as "Bhoovaikuntan" (Bhoo + Vaikuntan which means Lord Vishnu's land of Earth). These activities being carried out in the name of secularism are aimed at hurting the holy nature of this pilgrimage centre and undermining the Hindu community's faith in Lord Venkateshwara. This compilation of articles put together for awareness of the society, has been collected from articles in the all the leading newspapers and magazines.

1) Andhra Pradesh Government under the Leadership of YSR(Yeduguri Sandinti Rajasekhara Reddy) has stated that only 2 of the 7 hills are sacred. (Lord Balaji is known as "Saptagiriwasa" (Lord of 7 hills). Every Hill has some sacred importance attached to the Hindus). The Government of Andhra Pradesh is planning to lease over 100 acres of Temple for construction of Churches, Hotels & pubs, wine stores, butcher houses and Multiplexes and Commercial establishments. Prior to this the present Andhra Government has already sold over 800 Acres of Temple land to various Christian missionaries in other districts of Andhra Pradesh.

2) A Church is already come up near the Holy hills of Tirumala.

3) A Government decision to appoint a Christian Vice Chancellor to Sri Venkateshwara University for Men and Shri Padmavathi University for women run by TTD.

4) Removal of photographs and Idols of Lord Venkateshwara and Goddess Padmavathi from the university premises and replacing them with Christ's and Mary's paintings.[citation needed]

5) There is an intentional distribution of Bible and other Christian literature among students of Schools and colleges studying in these universities.[citation needed]

6) There has been a deliberate attempt to appoint Christians as officials in TTD Administration to run the Holy Temple of Hindus.

7) The Andhra Pradesh Government's action of appointing a Christian owned Organisation M/s JRG Wealth Management (Owned by Mr.G.B.Mathew, a Syrian Catholic from Kerala, who is also said to have close links with Sonia Gandhi) to make and distribute World Famous 'Tirupathi Laddu', which is considered to be Lord Venkateshwara's sacred blessing from all Hindus alike.

8) Government's decision to use the Hundi offerings to non-Hindu activities without any consent from the Devotees, the Government is in fact spending the Hundi offerings belonging to Hindu devotees on cleaning up the sewage drains, veterinary services and other such municipal jobs, which ought to be funded through the State Government funds, instead of spending the same funds to develop Hindu culture and religion.

9) Deva Sangeetham, Principal of S.V.University College is openly indulging in propagating and converting the students to Christianity by making them go to the church, reading Bible and creating disaffection towards Hindu Religion. After Deva Sangeetham has taken charge as the Principal, the practice of garlanding the Portrait of Lord Venkateshwara was stopped. The Vice-chancellor of Padmavathi University for Mahila Ms. Veena Noble Das is sending batches of students in the university buses to the church. If there is any protest from the students, the students are debarred from the University by falsely implicating them in some in case.

The increasing number of bishops cheating the public in the guise of building houses for tsunami victims and the poor has turned the spotlight on the so-called "independent" churches, of which there are said to be 1,500 in Tamil Nadu.

At least four bishops have been accused in recent weeks of cheating the public of Rs 40 crores in the name of charity. While two of them have been arrested, the police is hunting the other two.

The Madras Mylapore Archbishop, A.M. Chinnappa, had recently distanced himself from these bishops, saying that Catholic bishops had to be appointed by the Pope and that these robed men did not fall into that category. He had also warned people against being taken in by such self-styled bishops.

The archbishop's statement received a sharp response from the Independent Churches of India association, which objected to his suggestion that the bishops belonging to independent churches were frauds. The association claimed that proper procedures were followed in the appointment of its bishops.

The controversy, however, has not died down as more cases of bishops cheating the public have occurred since then.

Over the last two months, at least three cases have been registered against four bishops of the Moulin Mission Trust in Mahabalipuram, near Chennai, the Calvary Mission Trust in Vellore and the Hallelujah Full Gospel Missionaries of India, Chennai, by the Tamil Nadu police. It started with priest Anandaraj of the Moulin Mission Trust, who was arrested by the Mahabalipuram police for allegedly swindling over Rs 10 crores from contractors by collecting earnest money deposits from them after promising them orders for construction of houses for tsunami victims and the poor. Priest Job Saravanan of the Calvary Mission Trust is absconding although the police arrested his associates. He is accused of swindling people of over Rs 20 crores using the same modus operandi.

The police arrested priest Joseph Solomon of the third church for cheating the public of Rs 7.5 crores. His associate, Sathyaseelan, another bishop, has escaped to the United States, according to the police. The operations of these self-appointed bishops are spread throughout South India, the police say.

Bishop Dr M. Prakash, founder of Independent Churches of India, when contacted, said the bishops involved in these cases were not members of the association. "They have brought shame to the independent churches," he said.

Bishop Prakash said he had been trying to bring all independent churches in the state under one umbrella for the last three years. He defined independent churches as those separate from the established ones, like the Catholic Church. "It is time for the independent church to have a common code of conduct by which the members will have to abide. The constitution will be goal-oriented," he said. "I am in touch with the heads of all independent churches. We will meet soon and will make a constitution for the functioning of such churches," he added.

He claimed that 60 per cent of the Christian community in the state were members of independent churches and did not belong to Catholic or CSI churches. "We have around 1,500 independent churches in Tamil Nadu and all over the country the number of such churches may be more than 40,000. Yes, among them there are a few black sheep. Those who are involved in fraudulent activities are making use of social welfare projects to achieve their ends. No bishop will to do something to harm others," said Bishop Prakash, who has been running the SISWA Mission Trust in Anna Nagar in the city for the last 30 years. It is mainly involved in religious activities. According to him there is no uniformity in belief among the independent churches, which comprise various sects whose beliefs differ from those of the established churches. "We believe in Christ and in doing good," he asserted.

Yeah, but apparently you don't believe enuf to change your name to reflect your belief. Bishop Prakash, Anandraj etc., pls change ur last name to Matthew or John or Luke or something to:

1. demonstrate the depth of ur love for your idol

2. leave Hindu names out of this rape, incest, and extortion sh1t done in the name of your blue-eyed "Son of Gawd"

3. Show the world that you have left your heathen idol-worshipping ways altogether and now worship the great european statue onlee in every church (which is, of course, not an idol)..

Don't tell me those Hindu names are "part of my heritage"....you guys have denied your heritage, why not clean up this little bit too?

The whole question of plastic surgery to acquire Oiropean Aryan Features and Tannable White Skin Colour is indeed a vexing one, but remember: Thou shalt not want....You can always pretend to be mentally superior and more practical than Hindus, what with your rational Anglo-Saxon ancestors and all...

The Early Christian message announces that God has brought to pass a new epoch. It began with the coming of his son into this world, culminated provisionally in the latter's resurrection from the dead, and was supposed to reach its fulfillment in his imminent Second Coming. The Gospel--its literal translation is "Good News"--has Jesus Christ as its center. The salvation or eternal damnation of individual human beings depends on whether they believe or do not believe in him. "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved. But whoever does not believe will be condemned"-this is the clear message of the risen Jesus at the end of Mark's Gospel, the first of the four canonical accounts to be written.

But soon, the Good News developed into Threatening News-that is, if the offer of salvation was turned down! Church leaders soon equated right belief with obedience. They projected onto the screen of heaven a social fabric based on subordination and increasingly shaped by a culture of suppression. The canonical status of the New Testament writings--henceforth an eternal norm for the church--has radically blurred the vision of its followers, inhibiting their ability to recognize that all these texts emerged from controversies whose marks they still show.

The Christian church benefited from the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 c.e., and until the end of the first century it spread rapidly within the Roman Empire. Indeed, so rapid was its continued growth that a little more than two and a half centuries later this new and formerly outlawed faith became the official religion of the empire. Judaism laid the groundwork for Christianity's enormous success by endowing the church with the high ethical standards of the Old Testament. What an irony of history that the Christian religion showed so little gratitude to her Jewish mother as to relegate her along with other "enemies" of the Gospel to the realm of darkness. Yet in so doing, she did no more than certify her inheritance, for the legacy of Israel included the doctrine of election and with it the exclusive monotheism that judged all other kinds of worship as service to idols.

As an integral part of their missionary efforts, these enthusiastic Christians introduced First Commandment intolerance ("I am Yahweh, your God, you shall have no other gods besides me") into the Greco-Roman world. Oddly enough, it was their own religious tolerance and inclusiveness that afforded the competing Hellenistic religions little chance of asserting themselves against the Christians. Acquiescence, far from being an antidote against the Christian claim of exclusive revelation, allowed the church to take advantage of Rome's laissez-faire politics in religious matters and thus to expand relentlessly.

In this context, it is worth noting that the generally exaggerated accounts of Roman persecutions of Christians were limited in scope and severity. Lusting after martyrdom, many Christians in effect condemned themselves, and many a Roman governor failed to do them the favor of execution. And once they had begun participating in the political power structure, Christian bishops guided the governmental sword against pagans, heretics, and Jews to an extent that far exceeded the intensity of previous persecutions against their coreligionists. This intolerance remained in force until modern times.

Contrary to the popular thesis that Luther's understanding of freedom included tolerance, there can be no doubt about the great reformer's intolerance toward Catholics, Jews, Turks, Gentiles, and Protestant heretics. Rather, humanists and Christian minorities first raised the call for tolerance. And despite the initial lack of success these groups achieved, they finally succeeded against the will of both the Roman and Reformed churches. To be sure, the church's resistance against tolerance was, historically speaking, a necessity. For the overall thrust of Holy Scripture, both the Old and New Testaments, is to promote God and his reign and to silence all dissenting voices.

And while "peace" is a central theme in Holy Scripture, the aggressive side of Christian faith is all but certainly responsible for the many bloody wars started in and from Christian Europe. A key issue, of course, is how that peace is to be achieved. Here, the New Testament message is as crystal-clear as it is-at least by modern standards-indefensible: Jesus Christ himself will return to carry out God's will and by force, empowered by the authority of his resurrection, will establish his father's kingdom of peace on earth. On the basis of this promise, believers in Jesus Christ have at all times claimed access to that power and used it with a good conscience against those they perceive to be enemies of the Gospel.

Indeed, intolerance seems to an inherent, even necessary ingredient of the Christian religion. The noted theologian Karl Barth says it quite openly:
No sentence is more dangerous or revolutionary than that God is One and there is no other like Him. Let this sentence be uttered in such a way that it is heard and grasped, and at once 450 prophets of Baal are always in fear of their lives. There is no more room now for what the recent past called toleration. Beside God there are only his creatures or false gods, and beside faith in him there are religions only as religions of superstition, error, and finally irreligion.

Clearly, it would be misleading to think that freedom in general and freedom of religion specifically are the consequence of the Christian message. Indeed, the religious tradition that claims as its founder the Prince of Peace has through the centuries shown an inability to endure other religious viewpoints. And this is as true today as ever, despite the protestations of church leaders who would like to have it appear otherwise in order to retain their welcome within the institutions of power that comprise the secular state.

In reality, neither Christian theology nor the church can champion freedom of religion without betraying a considerable degree of hypocrisy. For tolerance requires an unconditional acknowledgment of the freedom and dignity of human beings without recourse to God. Yet the jealous Yahweh of the Bible, who demands unconditional obedience, can never approve of such liberal affirmations.

K.A. Paul railed against the war in Iraq on Sunday before a crowd of 1,000 at the New Spirit Revival Center in Cleveland Heights, his first stop on what he hopes is a 30-city campaign.

The Houston-based preacher said he believes that the Bush administration has delayed the second coming because U.S. foreign policy has blocked Christian missionaries from working in Iraq, Iran and Syria....

I somehow wonder how welcome Christian missionaries were in those countries â especially Iran â even before the war, and as you might gather arguments about delaying the second coming of Jesus Christ won't influence me much. I suspect they also won't influence most Christian voters much, since I doubt that the typical Christian shares Rev. Paul's view about what determines the timing of the second coming.

Today this guy, Hindu convert now Rev. K.A. Paul on MSNBC was very upset that because of Iraq war, he can't spread gospel to billions Hindus, Muslims, Buddhist and Communist. And he is a good friend of Rev. Ted Haggard (Evangelical leader quits amid male escort's allegations).

If I am not mistaken he is the same Paul who is very chammi with Chandra Babu Naidu and current CM of AP. And visit India in his chatered plane.

Evangelist asks House Speaker Hastert to resign

PLANO, Ill. -- An Indian Christian evangelist who boasts he persuaded warlord Charles Taylor to give up the Liberian presidency came to House Speaker Dennis Hastert's home Tuesday on a similar mission: to get the Republican leader to step down over the congressional page scandal.

Hastert welcomed Houston evangelist K.A. Paul, founder of the Global Peace Initiative, at his door and spent about 30 minutes inside with him. Later, Hastert declined to comment on the meeting, saying, "That's a privileged conversation."

Paul said the two prayed together and he told the speaker he should resign.

You need to for the sake of the country and for the sake of your future," Paul said he told Hastert. "You pray within your heart and you do it."

Paul is best known as Taylor's spiritual adviser, and he has often passed along messages from former Liberian president Taylor, who is in jail awaiting trial before a war crimes tribunal. Paul also claims to have counseled Saddam Hussein, Slobodan Milosevic and Haiti's rebel leader Guy Philippe.

Why Hastert would agree to meet with Paul mystified Dan Busby, an executive of an accrediting group that found problems with one of Paul's charities.

They dont know that he may be the conduit to India and UPA/INC and Sonia 

In 2005, the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, which has more than 1,200 members, terminated the membership of Paul's Gospel to the Unreached Millions for failing to meet financial accountability and governance standards.

I find that more shocking than surprising," said Dan Busby, vice president of the accrediting council. "It would mean Dennis Hastert or his people didn't do their homework on the history of this organization."

spokesman Brad Hahn would not comment on how or why the meeting with Paul was arranged.

"The speaker had a cordial discussion (with Paul), but disagrees with his point of view," Hahn said.

Hastert has resisted calls for his resignation over his handling of the scandal. Hastert and his staff have been under fire since revelations about former Congressman Mark Foley's inappropriate conduct toward male pages became known. Hastert said Tuesday he'll dismiss anyone on his staff found to have covered up concerns about Foley's approaches to former pages.

Paul said he expects Hastert will step down and, if so, it will be because God worked through Paul during Tuesday's meeting.

He compared the visit to his meetings with Taylor.

"Charles Taylor stepping down was a great miracle," Paul said. "It's all the holy spirit, not me."

Paul said he believes Hastert met with him because of Paul's connections with prominent Republicans and donors to the evangelical movement. Dallas oilman Nelson Bunker Hunt, a contributor to Campus Crusade for Christ, has served on the board of Paul's Global Peace Initiative, Paul said.

Paul's name is unknown to most people in the American evangelical community, said Billy Graham biographer William Martin of Rice University in Houston. Martin said he only knows of Paul because of recent articles in Houston newspapers.

"As an evangelistic figure in the United States, (Paul) has virtually no visibility," Martin said. "He knows some people highly placed in evangelical circles that could be the tie to Hastert," Martin said.

What Do Christians Have to Offer?
Hatred, division, corruption, bribery, etc., all reflect spiritual problems. The teachings of the Bible offer answers to the social and economic problems that plague our world. The âus vs. themâ mentality promoted by Hindu militants can weaken this great nation in a number of ways. Bribery, which is soundly denounced in the book of Proverbs, can drain any nation and prevent the people from getting the services they need. When money that should be used to build roads and schools winds up in a government officialâs Swiss bank account, everyone but the corrupt one loses.

An article in the Hindustan Times points out that Christian schools in India teach about four million students, 80 percent of whom come from middle or upper caste groups. Could these schools be useful to India by teaching biblical ethics to Indiaâs future leaders in a way that will also draw them to Christ? Integra (www.IntegraUSA.org) is a Christian endeavor that works in Eastern Europe. They are dedicated to developing business and job developing projects. They also have anti-corruption training that they hope will âpush back the darkness.â Perhaps Indian Christians could begin similar projects in their part of the world.

Letâs Pray!
Let us pray that Indiaâs Christian communities will act as salt and light to the business communities, most of which have no gospel witness. Pray that Christian schools will have a lasting spiritual impact on those they teach. Pray that Indiaâs Hindu, Jain, Muslim, and Zoroastrian business communities will find wisdom and truth in the Bible that will help them improve their businesses, and give them thankfulness and allegiance to Christ.

In 1993, Paul formed the evangelical U.S. organization, Gospel to the Unreached Millions, which organizes rallies, primarily in India and Africa.

In 1999, he added the humanitarian relief arm, Global Peace Initiative.
The main physical presence of his work in the United States is the sparse Huffman office staffed by Paul and Murray and three recently hired contract workers. The organizations also rent offices in Baltimore and Harrisburg, Pa., and own the donated 747.
Paul, his wife, Mary, and three children â Grace, Peace and John Paul â live near his Huffman office.

Last year, Global Peace Initiative received about $2 million in cash donations and $14 million in supplies such as medicines, Murray said. Gospel to the Unreached Millions received more than $5 million, he said.

In the United States, Paul has no congregation, holds no religious services and hosts no television show.

"I went to India and got an opportunity to see that he was healing people and his heart was right for people," said Holyfield, who donates his time to Paul's causes.

There are few places as crowded as Gallery Furniture on a Saturday, but the man, surrounded by his entourage, was insistent. A staff member summoned McIngvale, who agreed to talk with the man for a few minutes.

He introduced himself as Dr. K.A. Paul. He was a famous globetrotting minister based in Houston. He wanted to bring medical supplies to tsunami victims in Sri Lanka, but he needed $200,000 for gas money. He needed it now.Â Â <!--emo& Big Grin

"The whole thing was kind of surreal," McIngvale recalls. He'd never heard of Paul. He had also just donated $250,000 to the tsunami relief program launched by former presidents Bush and Clinton.

"I just figured, if you've got enough money to buy a billion-dollar airplane, you oughta have enough money to [pump it] full of gas," McIngvale says. "That'd be like some guy in a brand-new Rolls-Royce pulling up here asking for gas money." 

It smelled bad. McIngvale denied Paul's request.

So the minister did what any good Christian would do: He held a press conference blaming McIngvale for withholding desperately needed supplies from helpless children. <!--emo& Tongue

Paul was not used to being denied. His ministry claims powerful backers. Dallas millionaire Nelson Bunker Hunt was a major contributor. Cincinnati Reds owner Carl Lindner Jr., too. Flying around the world in his 747, Global Peace One (for more about the plane, see the sidebar "The 'Flying Death Trap,' " at the end of this article), Paul says he's counseled dictators Charles Taylor, Saddam Hussein and Slobodan Milosevic. He claims to operate the biggest, most successful orphanage in India. He's saved countless widows in India and brought peace to Rwanda. His peacekeeping missions have succeeded where America's have failed, which has put him in the crosshairs of A-list enemies like Condoleezza Rice.

But a Houston Press investigation into Anand Kilari -- the man who calls himself Dr. K.A. Paul -- showed some far less admirable moments in his life, including:

â¢ claiming another minister's leper colony as his own, and videotaping said lepers for a promotional video
â¢ transporting children in an airplane one former crew member called a "flying death trap"
â¢ leaving a trail of unpaid bills for the plane's fuel and maintenance
â¢ interfering with a murder investigation in India, earning the wrath of that country's National Council of Churches 
â¢ fleeing to the United States from India after nine of his American volunteers were arrested and thrown in prison 
â¢ abandoning an 11-year-old girl after checking her into a hospital Â <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='ohmy.gif' />

The investigation revealed a story much different from the one spun by Anand Kilari and his supporters. It's the story of an egomaniac with a doctored past and an obsession with an airplane that receives more money than starving orphans in India, a man whose hubris and deceptions have burned nearly every bridge that was supposed to lead him to his true, unspoken goal: to show the world that where there once was Mother Teresa, Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr., there is now Dr. K.A. Paul.Â Â <!--emo& Big Grin

Kilari's most immediate problem is a civil lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. 

The suit, filed by the Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces, alleges that Kilari defrauded the Friends out of $850,000 the group paid him to fly his plane to Poland and Israel for a Holocaust memorial. (Kilari also has been referred to as Kilari Anand. However, his Texas driver's license lists him as Anand Kilari.) 

The suit's many charges include fraud and conspiracy, alleging that Kilari and key staff never intended to fly the passengers to Poland and Israel.

The Friends were introduced to Kilari after their original travel plans fell through. A mutual contact introduced them to Kilari, who was already heading to the Middle East to meet the heads of Libya, Syria and India. He was doing this as a part of his humanitarian organization, Global Peace Initiative, a separate entity from his evangelical outfit, Gospel to the Unreached Millions. The letterheads change, depending on whom Kilari wants money from. In dealing with 90-some Jews flying to Auschwitz, Global Peace Initiative was the better bet. Kilari asked the group to pencil in a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. They agreed, and everything was set. 

However, Global Peace Initiative did not have a permit to charter flights. In order to accept the $850,000, Kilari had to make it clear that the money was a "donation" for a "partnership." This was made clear in the group's internal e-mails, copies of which were obtained by the Houston Press. 

In a June 2005 e-mail to Kilari's staff, the group's international director wrote:

"Many have insisted on calling this a charter -- which would be illegal. We should never even respond or we should respond only by saying that we have no charter flight...We have no charter, only a partnership...Please be very alert because if [FIDF] could get some of us to respond to them that this is a charter, they could be financially relieved of their contribution and Dr. Paul could go to jail."

Another problem, according to the suit and the internal e-mails, was that Global Peace One was not ready to fly. The plane's permit requires it to undergo an annual maintenance inspection the FAA calls a C-check. Extremely expensive, C-checks require a crew of dozens to comb through the aircraft as it sits, out of commission, in a hangar. The suit alleges that Kilari never intended to fly the Jewish group to Poland and Israel; the plan was to use their money to fix the plane for inspection

Kilari is incensed that Condoleezza Rice and Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo took credit for inducing Taylor's surrender. Three years ago, he says, they also stole credit for Taylor's resignation. Kilari wants them both impeached.

He decided to dedicate his life to saving the millions of souls in the third world who never knew Jesus. He set about to be the Billy Graham of India. He never trained at a seminary, but he claims to have an honorary doctorate from a Bible college in Swan River, Manitoba. However, the 15 or so years between Kilari's spiritual vision and the creation of the orphanage are a bit vague, something no one in the ministry likes to talk about.

But a Colorado Springs businessman named Ted Beckett doesn't mind talking. In fact, he and his wife, Audrey, investigated Kilari after they joined him on a disastrous trip to India. They subsequently wrote a nine-page account of their findings, which they shared with a few other missionaries, including some in Dallas. Several of these missionaries, who asked not to be named, appended the Becketts' account with corroborating letters, news reports and personal testimony. The resulting data tells a much different story from the one Kilari tells.

When the Becketts met Kilari in 1995, they were instantly intrigued by his stories of bringing Jesus to the forgotten corners of the world. They were especially interested in a leper colony Kilari claimed to operate in India.

But shortly after they went with Kilari to India, the Becketts learned that the leper colony was actually run by a different ministry. Yet that didn't keep Kilari from sending camera crews to film the lepers for his own promotional material.

Even more unsettling to the Becketts was the indication that when Kilari was 19, he was not seeing demons but was hijacking the ministry of noted Indian minister P.J. Titus. ????

Kilari has always denied working for Titus, but Titus's autobiography includes a photo of Kilari at Titus's desk, assisting him "in the business side of ministry," circa 1983.

While the Becketts were with Kilari in India, Kilari hastily organized a rally without the proper permits. As was standard operating procedure with Kilari rallies of the time, his supporters erected 20-foot wooden statues of Kilari and plastered trees with posters showing his smiling visage. The posters promised healing and salvation. According to Beckett, and to news reports at the time, local authorities denied an open-air rally, instead directing the American missionaries to a tiny village church to conduct their healing.

Chaos erupted when crowds surrounded the church, and authorities were dispatched to maintain order. Things turned ugly and the missionaries were whisked off to jail. Fearing arrest, Kilari caught the first plane to New Delhi, and from there he flew to the States. Beckett spent the next 24 hours calling every embassy he could to get the men released.

More criticism followed. In 1999, the National Council of Churches of India issued a warning, calling his promotional material "extremely exaggerated" literature that provokes "apprehension in the minds of the public as well as our Government about the intentions and credibility of all churches in India." 

At the time the letter was issued, Indian officials were in the village of Manoharpur, investigating the murder of an Australian missionary. Despite the council's request, Kilari whisked into town, scooped up three murder investigation witnesses in a helicopter and used them as publicity tools in a rally.

For that trip, Kilari gathered ten girls he claimed were from his orphanage in India and flew them to the United States for two scheduled fund-raisers. These were to take place at the governor's mansion in Little Rock and at the home of Cincinnati millionaire philanthropist Carl Lindner Jr.

However, things went awry when one of the 11-year-old girls took ill and wound up in D.C.'s Children's National Medical Center. The girl suffered from undiagnosed diabetes, but she was ready to be released within 72 hours, says Mindy Good, spokeswoman for D.C.'s Child and Family Services Agency. It is not clear if the other nine girls ever went on to Little Rock and Cincinnati.

Good's agency got involved because, after that 72 hours, no one from GPI was there to take the little girl home. That's because they were flying to Ontario at the very last minute.

Not knowing what to do with the girl, since no one wanted to claim her, hospital lawyers decided to sue for custodyÂ <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' />

"One of the little girls has diabetes and is in critical condition," Holyfield told the Washington Times. He said the girl needed her caretaker, who could not get a U.S. visa. He said that without the caretaker, the girl's outlook was "kind of bleak."

Doug Dodson, the international director for Kilari's ministry, told the Times that the caretaker was the orphan's de facto mother.

That may have upset the girl's actual mother, who was alive and well, as hospital translators soon found out, according to Good. The girl said she didn't live with her mother because she was attending "boarding school."

This is why he shouts, "You're asking stupid questions!" and adds, "You write that story, boy, you write that story and you wait for the response...Benny Hinns and TD Jakes are becoming millionaires and billionaires, and you're now talking to a village preacher, broke completely, can't even pay his own salaries anymore, and doesn't own a $100 property anywhere in the world--"

At which point we had to ask Kilari, "You don't own a $100 property anywhere in the world, but you own a freaking 747?"

"No, I don't own freaking 747, you idiot. I don't own!"

"Who owns it?"

"It is the organization owns it, you chicken!" 

Kilari demanded the rest of our questions in writing. After answering a scant few, he hired a lawyer and threatened to sue.

Kilari told us the plane was donated by "two businessmen," and the plane flew three overseas trips that, combined, cost less than $1 million.

Yet the sale documents show that Global Peace Initiative paid $3 million for the plane. The plane's net expenses for the first year were calculated at $5.7 million. About half of that was for fuel alone. 

Fleet Financial appears to have done whatever it could to facilitate the sale, even advancing GPI $182,000 for parts and services. There is no indication GPI ever repaid the bank.

Documents show that Kilari assumed an all-volunteer crew would eliminate the need for salaries, and the broker was concerned that he would put that saved money into things like catering instead of safety.

In November 2005, the pilot, co-captain and flight engineer quit after Kilari didn't address their concerns, which included trails of debt, poor flight planning and ministry credibility.
