The Sea Passage Of The 26/11 Terrorists - Guest - 05-31-2009

Not sure if this has been discussed here on IF, and also not sure if a new member can start a topic, but if it's ok with forum protocol, here goes:

It is becoming increasingly clear that a key aspect of Pak self-denial about the 26/11 having been perpetrated by Paks is that the terrorists could not have made the passage from Karachi and landed in Mumbai without being detected and apprehended. This myth persists even among the RAPE.

IF and a few other sites are regularly visited by Paks and others as their source of information and perspectives. Maybe this subject of the sea passage and how it was accomplished could be examined here as well to add to the information out there and provide uncle google with more sources on the subject.

The above topic has been discussed in some detail on BRF - the government has made many of the documents available online (don't have the links now. It is easily googled, I suppose).

If its not OK for a new member to start a topic, please delete.

Mumbai Terrorist Attack-News stories and timeline

Ramana Ji :

AA : Posted: 01 Dec 2008 09:36 pm - Terrorists sailed form Karachi on MV Al Husseni

BB : The master of MV Kuber was a fisherman who had recently been released from TSP jails - Posted: 25 Feb 2009 10:33 pm

Let us take the MV Al Husseni first.

This could well be a Decoy.

It is believed that 12 Terrorists boarded the Trawler M V Kuber. Is it possible?

If the 12 man capacity boat approached MV Kuber then the Master would immediately inform the local authorities that he was being approached by such a boat.

If the 12 man boat attracted the MV Kuber’s attention of being in distress and needed rescue then the Master would again get in touch with the authorities as the Trawler having a maximum of 10 workers on board would not have the Life Boat or other Equipment for say 22 person should the MV Kuber get into difficulties after rescuing the 12 Men.

As such I would opine that a Pakistani Naval Craft – most probably a Submarine – came to the area where the MV Kuber was operating.

The Pakistani Submarine “exhibited” the Indian Flag and so the Master of the MV Kuber was most happy to let the two man inflatable raft-boat approach his Trawler and allowed the two men to board.

These two men would most definitely be Pakistani Marine-Naval Commandoes who after boarding the MV Kuber were taken to the Master when they must have whipped out Revolvers or other light weapon and took control.

Thus the MV Kuber was taken over and the Indian Trawler workers were sent to King Neptune’s locker.

Once the Twelve Terrorists boarded the Trawler the Two Pakistani Marine-Naval Commandoes took turns to handle and navigate the Trawler into Mumbai Harbour or in to its vicinity i.e. the “Landing Area”

Had there been no “Specialists” then the Trawler would have drawn attention to it as the person “Steering” it would have written his name all over the Sea Surface since it would not be possible for him to have had the proficiency to handle a Trawler.

So much from me now and I lay it open for your and other Forum Members’ comments - views.

The Sea Passage Of The 26/11 Terrorists - ravish - 05-31-2009

It is very difficult to exactly pinpoint the sequence of events. One must remember that a certain amount of smuggling do take place along the sea route. Apart from the scenario that has been drawn up in the previous article, it is also possible that the Indian trawler had been engaged to perform some smuggling activity and the terrorists boarded the vessel disguised as smugglers.
Both these theories may be well off the mark. It is no point in speculating on an issue which cannot be proved or disproved to a certain degree of certainty. It is a well know fact that certain elements across the border have helped in planning and executing the entire operation. The present day happenings in Pakistan indicate that the Government is not fully in control of what is happening in the country. So in such a situation anything is possible. Let us hope that better sense will now prevail upon the decision makers of Pakistan and their action may restore the control of the State over various dangerous elements in that country.

We in India should not rely on what steps are taken by our neighbour but should take all steps to tighten the security of our country, particularly against the threat from the sea. This has remained somewhat on the low key in the past, but I am sure we will soon make up.

ravish Ji :

Your Post #4 of Today - 31-05-2009 , 09:46 PM

Attributing the take-over of the Trawler to be an extension of smuggling related activities is basically “sweeping the episode” under the carpet as well as declaring Pakistan innocent of the whole atrocity by blaming it on “Non-State” actors. This is a totally "Defeatist" Attitude which bodes ill for India.

As citizens it is our right to expect that the truth will be dug out of the Mountain of Bovine and Equine Faecal Droppings that are being dished around by the Indian Media in conjunction with the Liberal-Leftist Lobby and the "Interested" Political Leaders forming the Indian Government.

Agreeably it is difficult to pinpoint the sequence of events. If it was easy it would have been pinpointed Months and Months ago.

All we must try and prove amongst ourselves is that the Atrocity was carried out by the Pakistani Army, Navy, ISI and other State Agencies i.e. it was carried out by Pakistani State Actors and Agencies.

It seems to me that the Indian Government is indeed most anxious to “Log” this atrocity as an Act by Non-State Actors and sweep the whole episode Under the Carpet.

I have put an idea for consideration. It must be evaluated, criticised and alternatives found whereby at the end of the day we may – and I repeat may – get nearer to the truth.

Be assured that no Forum can persuade or enlighten a Nation’s Government – and more so in India – where we have a Lobby which is oblivious to the Terror Centre i.e. Terroristan that exists on India’s Western Border.

It is only on being nearer to the truth that we will be able to address the cause and also take-create-make-whatever measures to increase the Security of our Country.

Remember that of the 192 Member States of the United Nation there are possibly 125 or more Christian, 50 Muslim and the rest say Communist or whatever – I do not have the exact figures.

There are Buddhist Countries, a Jewish Country but no Hindu or Sikh or Jain Country.

Thus we must protect a Secular India so that at least the Hindus, Sikhs and Jains have a Country to call their own.

Or do you opine that - like the Zoroastrians were driven out and found refuge in India - the about 900 Million Hindus, Sikhs and Jains can find refuge in some other part of the World?

If so it begs the question : How, Where, Which etc. not forgetting Why?

ravish Ji : India must sort out the latest Atrocity. India has not been able to put a “Conclusive & Final” Blame on Pakistan for (1) BSE Blast (2) Akshardham(?) Temple Blast (3) Delhi/New Delhi - Daryagunj(?) – Blast (4) Mumbai Suburban Trains Blast and now (5) 26/11 Terrorist Attack. These are the main ones.

What sort of a Message is the Indian Government and its Bureaucracy passing on to the Terroristanis?

So put on your thinking cap as I look forward to your considered views and comments.

One key fact is the master of MV Kuber was a Gujarati Fisherman who was released only a few months before the 26/11 attack. And it seems too conicidental that it was is boat that was hijacked by the terrorists. My conjecture is he was tunred by ISI in captivity and brought his boat to rendezvous with the terrorists boat but he didnt know their plans to hijack and kill him and his crew to avoid traces.

ramana Ji :

Thank you for your comments.

For the sake of discussion I agree that the Master of the Master of the MV Kubar was turned by ISI in captivity but what cannot be explained is why a Trawler with say 6 to 8 workers not get alarmed at seeing 12 men approach their vessel.

The next point is that it would be impossible for the 12 young Terrorists to handle- manoeuvre the Trawler when it encountered the ships-boats which were in the process of entering or leaving Mumbai.

Even more important is as to how they managed to reach Mumbai after having taken over the Trawler and “killed” the Master of the M V Kuber. How did they manage to “land-beach” the MV Kuber in a “pre-determined” position i.e. area of the shore-beach.

What about the "Operation" of the Engine - A Trawler Engine surely is not like that of a Car-Truck!

By not asking or addressing these and surely many more important questions it is evident that the “Powers that be” are trying to ensure that the issue is “forgotten”.

ramana Ji : We need more questions to be asked!

Nareshji,

I do appreciate your concern over the issue. However, I would like to submit that nothing worthwhile will come out of the whole exercise. The fact is that the attack has taken place and we have failed to prevent the same. Whether individuals in Pakistan or certain elements within the establishment there have been responsible for the save landing of the terrorist near the Gateway of India, is at this point of time a rather academic discussion. Beating up a dying criminal is of no use, except that it may provide mental satisfaction to a few individuals.

You will agree that the whole world knows, as well as all Pakistani decision makers know of the involvement of Pakistan in terrorist activities directed against India from across the border. The Mumbai attack is perhaps the first large scale one across the sea. In the past the attacks have been carried out across the land border. This is perhaps the reason why we have been caught off guard. Of course, this cannot be accepted as an excuse for our lapse.

The need of the hour is to revamp our own security apparatus. There is no point in expecting that Pakistan will take such stringent measures that no terrorist acts can be committed against India from that country. This is simply not possible and should not be expected in the given situation. Intention or no intention, no Government in that country can or will be in a position to ensure our total security. You are more conversant than me of the internal situation in Pakistan and how strong the writ of the present Government runs. So it is better not to undertake any futile exercise which will in any way contribute to our own security.

Instead of wasting our energy and effort in doing postmortem of the sequence of events, given the fact that the world including Pakistan leadership have acknowledged that elements in Pakistan have been responsible for the Mumbai attack, we should now concentrate on reorganizing and modernizing our security apparatus.

Iran shuts its border with Pakistan

QUETTA : Iran has closed its border with Pakistan at Taftan and informed the Pakistani government about its decision.

A Pakistani official confirmed on Sunday that the Iranian authorities had closed the border.

Iran had closed the border partially on Thursday after a suicide bomber attacked a mosque in Zahedan, but ordered complete closure on Saturday.

Sources said that Iranian authorities had also tightened security along the border.

The Iranian move has caused suspension of trade through the area.

There was no trade now, the sources said, adding that people belonging to tribes living on the two sides of the border were facing enormous difficulties.

The Iranian border authorities have also stopped issuing temporary permits to people settled on both sides of the border.

The suspension of trade has resulted in an acute shortage of foodstuff coming from Iran.

Pakistan vows to wipe out Jundullah : report

TEHRAN : The Interior ministry of Pakistan aims to wipe out Jundullah terrorist group, an organisation that has claimed responsibility for an attack on a mosque in southeastern Iran, reports the Fars News Agency (FNA).

Pakistan’s interior ministry has presented all its information on Jundullah to the country’s intelligence services which include the ISI, MI and FIA. The ministry has also urged for the identification of group members and the immediate arrest of the ringleader Abdulmalek Rigi, according to FNA.

The report goes on to say Islamabad has ordered the group be disbanded and wiped out. The chief of the Iranian armed forces, General Hassan Firouzabadi, said Iran had located the base of the group and informed the Pakistani government of Abdulmalek Rigi’s position.

According to media reports, the group’s spokesman Abdoulrauf Rigi contacted the Pakistan office of al-Arabiya television network to report a bombing in a mosque in the Sisatn-Baluchestan province last week to claim responsibility for the attack.

The bomb blast occurred in the Iranian city of Zahedan while mourners participated in a ceremony marking the death of the daughter of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Iranian authorities have arrested and executed three men involved in the bombing. The trio was executed in Zahedan city.

So far Jundullah has claimed responsibility for a dozen terrorist operations in Iran, however according to the FNA, they have managed to escape punishment by crossing into Pakistan.

Tehran has warned Islamabad that it has the power and military means to trace and hunt down terrorist groups in Pakistan if such activity is not stopped by Pakistan.

Since the attack, Iran has closed down its border with Pakistan.

My guess is the master rendezvoused with the terrorist boat and took them on board. He might have thought he was only transporting some folk. He didn't know who they were. And in due course they dispatched his crew first and him later. Also they had GPS device to guide them on their way to the shore beach. They thought they had sunk the boat but didn't pull all the valves. So it didn't sink and was found by IN/Coast guard ships after the event.

BTW have you seen the pics of the MV Kuber? To me it looked like a low budget cabin cruiser in Western parlance and not at all like a big fishing vessel. So it shouldnt have been a problem to steer.

ramana Ji :

Do you give any credence to the following Articles? I will delete the whole post if the “Articles” has no credence :

MUMBAI TERRORISTS' CONFESSION

The confession of Azam Amir Kasav, the only terrorist captured alive in Mumbai, has apparently been leaked to the press. The Malaysian Insider has a detailed report on the story told by Azam, and it’s chilling: Terrorists posed as Malaysian students.

Note that Azam claims the terror team was trained by the Pakistani group Lashkar-e-Taiba, the militant Islamists closely linked to Pakistan’s ISI intelligence service. Their goal, he says, was to create a “September 11 in India.”

A native of Faridkot in Pakistan- occupied Kashmir, Azam revealed the names of his fellow terrorists, all Pakistani citizens: Abu Ali, Fahad, Omar, Shoaib, Umer, Abu Akasha, Ismail, Abdul Rahman (Bara) and Abdul Rahman (Chhota).

But the 10 men were apparently not the only ones directly involved: Another group, he claimed, had checked themselves into hotels four days before, waiting with weapons and ammunition they had stockpiled in the rooms.

The 10 men in Azam’s group were chosen well: All were trained in marine warfare and had undergone a special course conducted by the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Preparations were also detailed, and started early.

Azam and eight others in the team made a reconnaissance trip to Mumbai several months before the attacks, pretending to be Malaysian students. They rented an apartment at Colaba market, near one of their targets, the Nariman House.

The chief planner of the attacks also visited Mumbai a month before to take photographs and film strategic locations, including the hotel layouts.

Returning to Pakistan, the chief plotter trained the group, telling them to ‘kill till the last breath’.

Surprisingly, the men did not expect themselves to be suicide terrorists. Azam said they had originally planned to sail back on Thursday - the recruiters had even charted out a return route, stored on a GPS device.

On the evening of Nov 21, Azam’s group set off from an isolated creek in Karachi in a boat. The next day, a large Pakistani vessel with four Pakistanis and crew picked them up, whereupon the group was issued arms and ammunition.

Each man in the assault team was handed six to seven magazines of 50 bullets each, eight hand grenades, one AK-47 assault rifle, an automatic loading revolver, credit cards and a supply of dried fruit. They were, as some media put it, in for the long haul.

A day later, the team came across an Indian-owned trawler, Kuber, which they boarded. They killed four of the fishermen onboard, dumped their bodies into the sea, and forced its skipper Amarjit Singh to sail for India.

The next day, they beheaded the skipper, and one of the gunmen, a trained sailor, took the wheel and headed for the shores of Gujarat, India.

Near Gujarat, the terrorists raised a white flag as two officers of the coast guard approached. While the officers questioned them, one of the terrorists grappled with one of them, slit his throat and threw his body into the boat. The group then ordered the other officer to help them get to Mumbai.

On Nov 26, the team reached the Mumbai coast.

Four nautical miles out, they were met by three inflatable speedboats. They killed the other coast guard officer, transferred into the speedboats and proceeded to Colaba jetty as dusk settled. The Kuber was found later with the body of the 30-year-old captain onboard.

At Badhwar Park in Cuffe Parade - just three blocks away from Nariman House - the 10 men got off, stripped off the orange windbreakers they had been wearing and made sure to take out their large, heavy backpacks.

It was there that they were spotted by fisherman Prasan Dhanur, who was preparing his boat, and harbour official Kashinath Patil, 72, who was on duty nearby.

“Where are you going?” Patil asked them. “What’s in your bags?”

The men replied: “We don’t want any attention. Don’t bother us.”

Thinking little of it, Dhanur and Patil, who said they did not see the guns hidden in the backpacks, did not call the police, and watched the 10 young men walk away.

Then the carnage started.

On hitting the ground, the 10 men broke up. Four men headed for the Taj Mahal Hotel, two for The Oberoi Trident, two for Nariman House and two - Azam and Ismail - for the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus by taxi.

At the railway station, Azam and his colleague opened fire, targeting Caucasian tourists while trying to spare Muslims.

The two gunmen also destroyed the CCTV control room, throwing grenades into it.

It was here that Azam was photographed, dressed in light-grey combat trousers and sneakers, a rucksack on his back, toting his AK-47. According to one security expert, the way he carried the assault rifle revealed months of training.

The two men left the main hall of the railway station littered with bodies and pools of blood, then moved on to Metro Cinema and then to the Girgaum Chowpatty area in a stolen Skoda. It was there that their plans started to unravel.

At the Girgaum Chowpatty area, Azam and Ismail were intercepted by anti-terror troops from the Gamdevi police station, and they ended up trading shots. Azam managed to shoot dead assistant police inspector Tukaram Umbale, while one of them also gunned down anti-terror squad chief Hemant Karkare.

Ismail, however, was eventually killed, while Azam himself was shot in the hand. Pretending to be dead, he fell, and the two men were taken to Nair Hospital. But police soon spotted him breathing and quickly evacuated the hospital’s casualty ward, and brought in the anti-terror squad to interrogate him.

At first, Azam remained tight-lipped, but the sight of Ismail’s mutilated body broke his resolve. Pleading with medical staff to save his life, he said: “I do not want to die. Please put me on saline.”

The bullet in his hand was removed, and after his condition had stabilised, Azam was moved to another location on Thursday for more interrogation. Reports, however, say that the grilling at the hospital had been so intense that at one point, he pleaded with the police and medical staff to kill him. He said: “Now, I don’t want to live.”

The following Article is from the Sakaal times

Bodies of Kuber crew killed by terrorists found

It states that the MV Kuber is from Porbunder and bodies of Two of its crew were found in Jakhau

The Approximate Distances are :

Porbander to Jakhu : 120 Miles

Jakhau to Mumbai : 420 Miles

If we can get the specifications of the MV Kuber then we might find – and I say might – that she may not have Diesel Capacity to Travel a Distance of about 540 Miles in addition to having spent about 8 to 10 days at Sea.

ramana Ji :

I take the liberty to enumerate the various aspects to prove that the 26/11 Attack was not by a “Group of Non-State Actors” but the Pakistani State involving the various Terrorist Organizations, The Pakistani Army (including the ISI) and Navy also possibly the Air Force. This Operation was most definitely “Sanctioned” by President Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani and a whole group if others associated with this operation.

1. This Operation had support of Pakistani Muslims but Illegal Immigrants and thus Resident in India.

2. These Pakistani Muslims but Illegal Immigrants are part of the “India Visit Visa” Program whereby the Indian High Commission Visa Office in Islamabad issues up to 120,000 (if not More) Indian Visit Visas to Pakistani Citizens of possibly all religions.

It is a fact that Annually over 10,000 Pakistani Muslims but Illegal Immigrants in India who have got a valid “India Visit Visa” do not go back to Pakistan on the Expiry of their Visa and are Unaccountable as well as Untraceable who I opine become a Part of the large Pakistani Sleepers' Groups in India. To those who would claim that this over 10,000 Figure are actually Hindus, Sikhs and Jains who do not want to return to Pakistani I can say that the Hindu, Sikh and Jain Pakistanis Visiting India are fully recorded as they apply for “Refuge” in India so that they do not have to go back. Thus the Annual Figure of over 10,000 Pakistani Muslims but Illegal Immigrants in India cannot be disputed. I believe that this is going on for the last Ten Years if not more.

It is these “Sleepers” who made all the “arrangements” in India including IMO a “reconnaissance” of the MV Kuber and possibly a “Sleeper” was part of the Crew – of course with a Hindu Identity.

I couldn’t have “worded” it better!

There seems to be an indecent haste to “Sweep” this Attack “Under the Carpet”.

A. There has been no evidence of a Post Mortem on the Body of MV Kuber’s Master to ascertain the time of his death.

B. The Master’s dead body was found with “hands were tied behind his back” (as per the Second Article in my Post #17 of Yesterday 01-06-2009, 04:59 PM) and as such the “Steering” of the MV Kuber was by one of the Pakistani Naval-Marine commandos.

Will explain certain pertinent points by PM (presently seems unlikely) or by E-Mail. I will try to have my E-Mail Address conveyed to you.

The Sea Passage Of The 26/11 Terrorists - Guest - 06-06-2009

>>I take the liberty to enumerate the various aspects to prove that the 26/11 Attack was not by a “Group of Non-State Actors” but the Pakistani State

Naresh,

This is taken pretty much for granted. There is no illusion about this issue in government me thinks. It is unusual for any Indian PM to directly allege that the Pakistani state had a hand in specific terror incidents, and yet in this case MMS has done so. Furthermore, the "non-state actor" phrase usage by Zardari initially (and he was the first to use it after 26/11 IIRC) is suspect. It is almost certain that he would not have had the werewithal to come up with it by himself. This means it was handed over to him in briefing papers or something as part of the Pak govt reaction, scripted by the military establishment. There is no doubt that the Pakistani military conceptualised and executed 26/11 in an unconventional military operation. I don't think the government is trying to hide this.

What we are going to do about it is another matter.

On a separate subject...
In general, guys, please set aside the "ji" stuff with me... not for any particular reason except that I might forget to use it myself, and don't want to unwittingly cause offense.
