<b>Ajmal had to say ‘Jai Hind’ in jail
</b>
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->But getting Ajmal to utter the two words was not easy for the jailers. According to the jail manual, a prisoner is supposed to salute the jail staff and greet them by saying ‘Jai Hind’.

But when Ajmal was taken to the jail for the identification parade, he flatly refused to say ‘Jai Hind’, perhaps because of the indoctrination he underwent during training by the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The jail staff, however, were in no mood to relent. Senior jail officers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that as soon as he was brought into the jail, the staff read out the dos and don’ts to him from the jail manual.

When Ajmal refused to comply, the jail staff had to “coax” him for nearly half an hour. He finally gave in and muttered ‘Jai Hind’ each time a jail officer approached him or passed by his cell.

“While saying ‘Jai Hind’, Ajmal never made eye contact,” a senior jail officer said. The staff then insisted he stand upright and salute them.

“Each time Ajmal said ‘Jai Hind’, we felt we had taken revenge for the innocent people he and the others had killed,” said a constable who was guarding his cell.

At least 37 witnesses, including police officers, identified Ajmal during the identification parade held at the jail on December 27 and 28.

Ajmal is in the custody of the Mumbai crime branch which is probing the terror attacks. After his police custody ends on Tuesday, the crime branch is likely to seek his custody in the CST firing case. <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<b>Mumbai terrorists had indirect links to UK: MI5 chief</b>
pioneer.com
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->PTI | London
Revealing that the Mumbai attackers had some indirect links with Britain, the chief of the UK's intelligence service has warned that the 26/11 strikes in India's financial hub, in which the gunmen targeted public places, <b>could become a "model" for future terror attacks.</b>

Jonathan Evans, the Director General of MI5, also said that <b>"scores" of British Muslims continue to travel to terrorist training camps in Pakistan every year</b>.

In a rare interaction with media coinciding with the centenary of MI5, 50-year-old Evans said that the use of internet telephony during the Mumbai attacks posed new challenges to security services.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin--><b>Hamid Gul Participated in Mumbai Attacks</b>
The Long War Journal, which has contacts with US intelligence circles, says that Hamid Gul directly participated in the Mumbai attacks:
<!--QuoteBegin--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->Six Pakistani handlers monitored the news coverage from Mumbai and kept in constant touch with the terrorists holed up in Nariman House and the Taj Mahal and Trident hotels during the three day siege. The handlers are identified as Zarar, Kafa, Wassi, Jundal, Buzurg, <b>and “Major General.”</b>
    ...
The identity of the other handlers has not been provided, but India has accused elements within Pakistan’s intelligence service and the military of supporting the attack. <b>The handler identified as “Major General” implies the involvement of a current or former military officer.</b> The Inter-Service Intelligence agency is a branch of the Pakistani military. The ISI chief and Army corps commanders achieve the rank of Major General or Lieutenant General.

<b>A senior US military intelligence official familiar with the dossier said that the "Major General" is indeed Hamid Gul, the retired former chief of the ISI. "It's Gul," the official told The Long War Journal. "This is why the US is trying to get him on the UN list of terrorists."</b> In December 2008 the US attempted to get Hamid Gul and other former military and intelligence officials added to the UN list of designated terrorists but has so far been rebuffed.

<b>The Pakistan-based handlers provided real-time intelligence and directed the terrorists to killed specific hostages.</b><!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->CNN's Fareed Zakaria interviews an expert who claims otherwise:

<b>Accusations should not be made without proof: US</b><!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->Days after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] said that Pakistan's official agencies could be involved in Mumbai terror attacks, the US today said "<b>accusations" should not be made without evidence.</b>

"I don't think we want to take a view that we make accusations against certain parties without the usual evidences, proofs," Ambassador [Images] David C Mulford said when asked whether the US agrees with Singh that Pakistan's official agencies could have had a role in the Mumbai attacks.

<b>Cops misled me, I did my own probe: Kamte's wife</b><!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin--><b>The attack</b>
The street was dark, there were no lights. My husband and others were asking people how to get into Cama Hospital but there was no help forthcoming. They also asked for enforcement which did not come for a long time. So they realised they should not waste more time and they slowly started moving. My husband saw some movement in the bushes. And the firing started.

<b>My basic intension was to know that these people had not acted impulsively. </b>

There was a 40-minute lapse before the police reached Cama Hospital. Due to that, Kamte and Salaskar lost their lives. Maybe they could have been saved.

My husband shot at Kasab
On the second day I knew that Kasab was hit by my husband but I still wanted to crosscheck with everybody. I did not want to believe them. I met a lot of people who actually saw it happening. They say my husband took position and fire with his AK 47.

26/11: Witness who saw terrorists land goes missing
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->Mumbai, Jan 13 (PTI) One of the witnesses in the Mumbai terror attacks case, who saw the terrorists land on the city's shores, has gone missing, police said today. Anita Uddaiya, who saw the ten terrorists arrive at the Fisherman's Colony in Cuffe Parade on November 26, has been missing since January 11.

Police said they have launched a manhunt for the missing witness, who had been taken to the J J Hospital earlier to identify the bodies of the nine killed terrorists.

The missing persons complaint was lodged by Uddaiya's daughter after she went missing from her house in the Cuffe Parade's Fisherman's Colony. PTI<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Two possibilities:
1. They wanted to hide the details of Pakistani involvement.
2. They may claim later that Hindutva forces killed her.

Attack in Mumbai -2 - ramana - 01-14-2009

The wife of slain Police Officer Kamte, made her own investigation and said that it was her husband who shot Kasab with his (Kamte's) AK-47. Currently all Mumbai Police statements are to lionise the dead ATS chief and ignore the other people who died. Most likely there is something that the ATS Chief left behind that could implicate the govt. Hence this policy.

Attack in Mumbai -2 - Guest - 01-14-2009

Why no blood report is out?
ATS Chief was doing work for Pawar, Congress and dragging Sadus and labeling them "Hindu terror".
ATS chief's wife statement is full of stupidity. Free Kasab so that he can kill more, I think that will satisfy her.
Same happened during Khandar plane hijack when Congress supported crowd made dharna outside Vajpayee house, those terrorist got life but atleast thousand of other Indians lost life, now those dharna crowd must be very happy.

<b>Pakistan state not linked to Mumbai attack - Britain</b>

<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->And the fact that Britain can say that so definitely means that it knows *IT* is behind the terrorist attack, then. Universal sanctions against Britain.

From Dhu's link:
http://vijayvaani.com/FrmPublicDisplayArticle.aspx?id=308
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->New Delhi must realize that if the Mumbai attack is to be the last big one, it must carry out a thorough investigation. The Mumbai terror had a very strong British link as is detailed below. On Dec. 1, the London Daily Mail reported that seven British Muslims were involved. That number dwindled to two within a couple of days. The now-deposed chief minister of the state of Maharashtra (where Mumbai is located), Vilasrao Deshmukh, announced that no British Muslims were involved. In other words, whitewashing is fully in progress.

But, it is likely that the evidence of British involvement in this terrorist act has not yet been wiped out. That is why, in the early morning of Dec. 14, Britain’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown came pell-mell to Delhi to urge the Indian Premier Manmohan Singh to allow British intelligence, MI6, to interrogate the only surviving Mumbai terrorist, Mohammed Ajmal Amir Qasab. It is likely that the purpose of the MI6 interrogation is to direct Qasab to provide details to confuse the investigators and keep Britain out of it. The speed with which the British Embassy in Delhi set up the Brown-Singh meeting indicates that there is much at stake for Britain.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->The rest at Dhu's link.

One of these days Britain's pet Pukestan is going to attack the UK (rabbies-infected zombie will bite anyone including the hands that feed). And <i>when</i> that day comes, pat will come the Indian reply: "Pakistan state not linked to UK attack."
Wait for it: Londonistan is an inevitability.

Next they will say, "what attacks?" and MMS will be perfectly ok with it and send more roses, candles to Pakistan. After all if Britain saved India from herself and civilized maroons like him, per MMS, shouldn't he be listening to them now?

<b>Britain wants 26/11 accused prosecuted in Pakistan</b>
14 Jan 2009, 1001 hrs IST, PTI

NEW DELHI: Virtually rejecting India's contention that those accused in the Mumbai attacks be extradited, Britain has said it supports their prosecution in Pakistan as they have "broken the law" of that country.

British Foreign Minister David Miliband said there is evidence about involvement of Pakistan-based people and Islamabad should follow its commitments with actions.

"We will support their prosecution under Pakistani law, because they have broken the law in Pakistan. Its Pakistani law they have broken as well as international decency and common sense," British Foreign Minister David Miliband told in a TV programme.

He was responding when referred to New Delhi's demand that those accused of terrorist acts in India should be handed over to face trial in India.

On the dossier of evidence given by India to Pakistan, he said "We have absolutely no doubt about the origin of the attack in Mumbai in November. The origins are in Pakistan."

Noting that there have been some detentions in Pakistan, Miliband said "they (should) now lead to successful prosecutions. We believe the evidence is there."

Asked about the evidence, he said "We have our own evidence we have shown to Pakistani authorities and and we believe that is the right evidence on which to proceed."

He said it was "critical" that "the words of the Pakistani government which are commitments" should be followed through into action.

When asked why those accused of terror in India should not be handed over to New Delhi like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed handed over by Pakistan to US, Miliband said "I won't go into constitutional position in Pakistan.

"What is important is those accused of heinous crimes should feel the full force of the law, whether in India or in Pakistan."

He said the Pakistani authorities have detained these people and "if there there is evidence, they should be prosecuted. I say there is evidence, let them be prosecuted and if they are found guilty let them be punished."

The British Foreign Minister said he was in Pakistan on the day Mumbai attacks took place. "We had good words from Pakistani authorities that need to be translated into action."

"Indians don't want words. They want action. We support that position," said Miliband, who has met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and held talks with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister P Chidambaram.

He talked about "short-term" and "medium-term actions" that Pakistan needs to take.

"Short term action -- find the culprits, if found guilty, punish them take action through the courts. Medium-term action - root out the terror networks which pose threat not only to India but to fundamentals of Pakistani state as well," he said.

Noting that terrorism has taken life of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and many other Pakistanis, he said "they (Pakistan) need to do it for their own good."

On Manmohan Singh's view that official agencies of Pakistan could have been involved in the Mumbai attacks, Miliband said "we don't have evidence to show that attacks were directed by the Pakistani government."

He, however, noted that "the Pakistani government had a policy towards the LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) under the previous regime of President (Pervez) Musharraf... we do know that... This is public knowledge... I think its very important that approach is changed."

When referred to Singh's contention that Pakistan is using terrorism as an instrument of state policy, he said "I have no evidence of Pakistani state directing terrorist activities and I will never make that claim without that evidence. What I know is Pakistan has a very serious terrorism problem."

Asked whether UK would impose sanctions on Pakistan if that country fails to properly punish those behind the Mumbai attacks, he ruled out saying, "I don't think punishing Pakistani people with economic sanction is going to induce a sort of change."

He said the UK will "use all appropriate mechanism to make a difference" but made it clear that "military stick" will not help. "There is serious need for reform from within Pakistan," Miliband said.

On the Pakistani proposal for joint investigation, he said the two countries should cooperate "but we are not for any particular version of how to cooperate".

Miliband also disfavoured appointment of a special envoy by the US on Kashmir as has been speculated, saying India and Pakistan should be allowed to settle it bilaterally. "It (Kashmir) is a bilateral issue...That is not in our policy. We felt composite dialogue between India and Pakistan is the right way forward. Our position has been the bilateral track is a good track and it should be."
