<img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/india.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='india.gif' /> The Congress’ Delhi election campaign, which had gone all out to highlight ‘progress’ or ‘vikas’ under the Sheila Dikshit government, has begun
sounding increasingly defensive in the last few days before polling on 29 November.

The most apparent sign of this has come with the BJP slogan, ‘Mehengi Padi Congress’ (Congress proved costly), getting prominence not only in the Opposition party’s poll campaign, but also featuring indirectly in the Congress’ poll ads and in election rallies.

But, it is not just in its publicity material that the Congress is adopting a defensive strategy. Reacting to the threat of the BSP in the Capital, Congress leaders have begun to allege that Ms Mayawati’s party and the BJP have an informal alliance.

64 per cent polling in MP, BJP MLA shot deadQUOTEMadhya Pradesh saw about 64 per cent of its electorate coming out to vote for 230 seats in the state assembly on Thursday as former minister and BJP candidate Sunil Nayak and his gunman were allegedly killed in a clash with a Congress MLA’s brother in Tikamgarh district in the northern part of the state.

Nayak, who was contesting from Prithvipur constituency, was shot in the neck by Congress MLA Brijendra Singh Rathore’s brother Yashpal Singh Rathore in the Naya Khera area of the constituency.

Inspector General of Police (Sagar Range) K.N. Tiwari said two bullets pierced Nayak's neck and thigh. His gunman also received a bullet in his thigh. Both Nayak and his gunman were referred to Jhansi hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

My hunch is that the Congress will find itself soundly defeated come Dec 08! (unless Maino orders the sabotage of the EVMs!)

People should demand of the P.M. to quit and face the electorate (in his case he should simply retire as he never faced the electorate)

Modiji, I edited my posting and your posting and mine crossed the same time!

No, this time the bad guys have to cheat the people in a different way such as the one I have feared. It happened in all 'democracies', did it not?

The "democratic" government which is now in effective minority due to disqualification of MPs that had defected from oppostion, is not convening the long due "Monsoon" session -- lest another no-confidence will bring it down! Parliament is kind of in suspended animation!

Any idea how Delhi will vote this time.
When I was in Delhi, I voted against Moron SIngh and he lost his election. First and last time I voted and it made difference, I tried keeping Gidhar Singh away from Government.
He ho !!! Sonia benji appointed him as Prime Minister anyway, what a shame !!!

Assembly Elections 2008 - Chhattis, Raj, Mp, Delhi - arindam - 12-08-2008

there seems to be a very strong anti-incumbent feeling - In MP and rajasthan it is very strong, and the same is true in Delhi - the only difference is that in MP and Delhi - it was not strong enough to remove the incumbent party, while in Rajasthan it obviously was.

What is particularly distressing for the BJP is the size of the negative seat change in MP and Rajasthan - probably due to very poor administration.

It is clearly possible to fight the anti-incumbency tide - but, the BJP needs to demonstrate that it can fight this effectively.

Assembly Elections 2008 - Chhattis, Raj, Mp, Delhi - ravish - 12-08-2008

Yes Arindum, despite the best efforts of Mudyji, Huskiji and a few others in this forum in highlighting the total failure of the Congress Party, its leaders and all associated with the establishment---the voters have again decided to give the chance to the Congress Party to run the show in Delhi ,Mizoram and Rajasthan.
They could not be wiped out from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. In these two States by winning 38 out of 90 and 73 out of 230 seats they will be able to provide a sizable opposition.Indeed a very sad day for many day dreamers and wishful thinkers.

Could you expect a result like this from NY state after 9-11. Typical Indian trait, don't care about terrorism, they could get blasted 10,000 times, still wouldn't care.

Not a freaking peep when nation was held hostage - just like Patil and Shri MMS or Smt Gandhi.
Yep, now all ready-made answers will be provided unsolicited.
Why am I not surprised.
