Nehru-Edwina saga put off under Govt pressure

Good to see GOI tackling all the pressing problems. I hereby suggest that the film crew descend upon Pakistan to film the love affair between Nero (ahem Hero ahem Nehru) and his fizzle. At least the patriarch was redeemed by his pauta Rajiv who succeeded where hero failed.

Aah so Manu got into an altercation with the son of Commissioner of Delhi Police.
Delhi Police chief's son's call led Manu Sharma back to jail
---
Suddenly, Manu's friend got into an argument with Dadwal's son and the spat turned ugly. There was always the fear of a Jessica case re-run as the mood at F Bar was quite similar to Tamarind Court (where Jessica was shot down for refusing Manu more drink) 10 years ago as it was the same cocktail of guns, liquor and frayed tempers again.

Dadwal's son whipped out his mobile and made a call. Within minutes, jeeploads of policemen swooped down on the pub. So much of deployment even as the Delhi Police had no written complaint?

<img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /> Six months is too short a time to judge a Government’s performance but it is sufficient to assess the broad direction in which it is heading. It allows us to take a call on where India will find itself at the time of the 2014 poll. Sadly, the broad conclusions don’t inspire great confidence in the future of a country that believes it is a world power and doesn’t behave like one.

To begin with, there are unmistakable signs of the Government pulling in different directions and Cabinet Ministers doing their own thing. The sugar kerfuffle which led to Delhi being overrun by angry farmers was a classic example of the left hand not knowing what the right hand was up to. The contentious Ordinance was blamed on Sharad Pawar’s proximity to an organised lobby. That was always well known. Why did the Cabinet not apply its mind to the Ordinance in the first place?

Needed: photos of Sonia, PM every 25 km of national highway

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has floated a proposal to erect billboards with pictures of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi every 25 km on all National Highways under it.

The 20x10-ft boards will carry a picture of the two leaders on both sides of the road — clearly a move to highlight the UPA effort in pushing the National Highways Development Programme (NHDP)

The Government came out with an unusual clarification saying its attention has been drawn to some media reports about the conferment of the Padma Bhushan award on Chatwal.

The release also hailed Chatwal as a "tireless advocate" of India's interests in the US and has been working relentlessly for strengthening bilateral relationships between the two countries.

He was ac active member of NRI committee in the US in securing support for the nuclear deal among the members of US Congress.

They have turned the civilian awards into a complete fiasco. The secular activist who opposed Advani in Gandhinagar got a Padma Shri. Even Saif Ali got one, in addition to another of the "Khans". Then there was a newspaper advertisement showing the PM and Sonia with paki generals.

Sena-MNS launch counter offensive on Rahul Gandhi after his remarks at a rally in Bihar

Verbal jousting: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi

Taking the war of words to a new level, Rahul Gandhi yesterday launched a verbal assault at Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and the MNS for their tirade against migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Addressing a rally in Gaya, Bihar, he had said, "In Maharashtra, MNS leader Raj Thackeray keeps on saying throw out people of Bihar and UP. But, who killed the terrorists who had attacked Mumbai? They were the NSG guys from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and from the rest of the country."

"At that time they did not say throw out Biharis," he added.

Reacting to the Congress leader's statements, the Sena-MNS brigade came out all guns blazing. "He should first answer who was responsible for the 26/11 attack. It was because of the failure of their government that the city had to face such turmoil," said Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut.

Shirish Parker, MNS MLA, said, "It is because of his forefathers that there have been attacks in the country. If his great grandfather, grandmother and father had run the country properly, we wouldn't have seen these problems."

Hard talk: Shirish Parker

He added, "Rahul should look at his conscience before making such a statement as it was his party that was in power in the state and Centre and still they couldn't stop the attack."

Division politics

The Sena also warned Rahul against creating a rift among the soldiers of the country in the name of religion and state.

"Rahul should stop discriminating between the soldiers on the basis of caste and religion. A soldier fights for the country and is supposed to go anywhere in the country when they are required," said Raut.

"By making this statement he has insulted the 17 Maharashtrian policemen who lost their lives before the NSG arrived. We never questioned why the NSG took two and a half days to settle things," said Parker.

The MNS leader also pointed out that had the Congress done enough groundwork in north India the residents would never venture to other states in search of employment.

"More than 50 lakh locals here are unemployed. We are fighting for their rights. Our party will ensure Rahul apologises to the Maharashtrians and takes back his words," said Parker.

A senior IPS officer on condition of anonymity said, "Being in a disciplinary force I would not comment on a political remark, but we will do everything possible to maintain law and order in the city."

PTI | New Delhi

A day after sparring with ally Shiv Sena, BJP on Tuesday attempted to put the blame for hatred against North Indians working in Maharashtra on the Congress, saying despite being in power in the State it was shedding crocodile tears instead of protecting the victims.

"What is happening in Maharashtra is an attempt to create hatred against people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. I would like to tell the Congress, which is in power in the State, not to shed crocodile tears or play divisive politics for votes," former BJP president Rajnath Singh said here.

Without naming Rahul Gandhi, who had spoken on Monday about rights of North Indians living in the State, Singh said, "Congress leaders are giving reactions only... Though they are in power in Maharashtra."

Singh accused the Congress of taking course to inaction and shadow boxing by providing indirect assistance to MNS and other extremist outfits as a part of their strategy.

"Congress party has a history of patronising many separatist and regional movements in the country, which has not only damaged the secular fabric of India but also dealt a big blow to unity and integrity of our country," Singh said.

He enumerated the Khalistan Movement in Punjab, separatist movement in Jammu and Kashmir and the "prevalent anti-India sentiment" in many parts of North-Eastern states and alleged these cropped up due to "either active or passive" involvement of the Congress.

"What the RSS has said (that North Indians should be protected in Maharashtra) is absolutely correct. All over India, every countryman has rights and all political parties should respect this basic feeling among all Indians," BJP vice-president Shanta Kumar said on Monday.

Very dangerous games being played by INC.

Quote:While the Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi made the most of his Mumbai visit to connect with the people, despite stray protests staged by the Shiv Sena activists, he kept Mumbai's who's who on their toes. They were seen going all out to please the Gandhi scion.

The Minister of State for Home Ramesh Bagwestae actually picked up Rahul’s slippers while Chief Minister Ashok Chavan patiently waited for Rahul under a tree.

The stray protests staged by Shiv Sena activists to disrupt Congress general secretary Rahul's Gandhi’s visit to Mumbai did very little to damage to the Congress leader’s plans.

In an open defiance of the Sena's threat, he boarded the local at Andheri to reach Ghatkopar, where he garlanded a statue of Ambedkar. Rahul also spent some time with children in slums.

It may be recalled that Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj has been criticising the BJP Government led by Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa openly on almost everything, may it be Government’s handling of flood relief operations, pace of infrastructure projects. A few days back, he had rejected the nomination of former Minister V Somanna to the Legislative Council by saying Somanna is a political defector and blamed defection as nuisance to parliamentary democracy. Somanna had joined the BJP, which created ripples in the Congress. This incident has angered the BJP and senior party leader Venkaiah Naidu took this opportunity to take him to task, questioning the propriety in rejecting the nomination of Somanna.

The BJP leader argued that the Governor has no purview of the matter and questioned the rule under which the Governor had rejected his nomination.

Naidu said, “Where is it written that a man who comes from another party is not qualified to become member of the Legislative Council. Somanna joined BJP by resigning his posts and he was not a defector.”

According to sources in the BJP, the central leadership is planning to meet the President in this regard.

The christoterrorist govt of India is openly anti-Hindu. Compare their preventing persecuted Hindus in TSP from coming to India with how they are openly inviting the treacherous militants of PoK to come and settle.

And of course, as a lovely side-effect: any islamoterrorist can now sneak in.

Kashmiris wanting to return from PoK are welcome: Chidambaram

New Delhi: In a significant gesture, the government on Thursday said it was ready to "welcome" Kashmiris who had gone to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) if they were ready to return after giving up militancy.

"The idea that any Indian who had crossed over to PoK and wishes to return India is certainly welcome," Home Minister P Chidambaram told reporters backing the proposal mooted by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

"The idea is accepted... This idea must now be translated into a scheme," the Home Minister said, adding it was one of the recommendations of one of the Working Groups appointed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for recommending measures to address problems of Jammu and Kashmir.

Replying to questions at a briefing after meetings of the Cabinet and Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, Chidambaram said the return could be facilitated through a scheme which will entail identification, screening, travel, debriefing, rehabilitation and reintegration.

Noting that "PoK is actually an Indian territory", he said the government "should facilitate the return" of those who had gone across the Line of Control for "some reasons".

(Yeah, and we all know that these were jihadi, i.e. terrorist, reasons.

And if PoK is actually an Indian territory, why does the christogovt of India suffer Pukestani troops to be stationed there? They are lying through their teeth, they know it and they know they can get away with it.)

Significantly, his statement counters the view of his Cabinet colleague and former J and K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who has questioned the idea of allowing the return as he apprehended that they could come here to "create trouble".

(Even the islamic ex-CM of J&K realises they're terrorists just waiting for an opportunity to terrorise at close range.)

Thousands of Kashmiri youths had crossed over to PoK from 1989 to join militant ranks. While many of them infiltrated back, a large number has not returned. Around 800 of them are understood to have conveyed their desire, through various channels, to return home.

(Of course they desire to come back to India: to terrorise the dar-ul-harb. To continue and complete the jihad.

And now: Forget the peaceful persecuted Hindus of Pukestan: they should be held out at all costs, they're Hindus and India is marked for jeebusjehovallah now. So christogovt deliberately turns a blind eye to masses of Bangladeshi and TSP islamaniac infiltrators - encouraging them to flood Dharmic India and ensure a votebank for christism while simultaneously reducing the number of the country's Dharmics through jihad - and now that same christogovt ASKS the islamaniacs of Kashmir, who had openly chosen to betray India by joining TSP in PoK and were attacking India and its Dharmics from there, to "please come back".

Can Hindus even tell that it is a christian government ruling India, one that's moreover remotely controlled?

Why don't Dharmics revolt? This isn't a democracy. It's a sham. It is not a government representing the indigenous people of India. It is not even an Indian government.

It is a government with an alien ideology, that works for foreign interests and works with terrorists to bleed the indigenous population a little at a time.)

PTI

More on news
Because India is too large a country - too large a heathen population - christianism knows it needs islam (and the latter's jihad) to cement its power in India and convert-or-kill it. It's like how in Rome the christians worked with the "barbarian" invaders and the Persians in order to bring down the empire.

It's like the christobrits never left.

Quote:The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday raised questions over the resignation of Prime Minister's special envoy Shyam Saran and wondered why another top diplomat Shivshankar Menon who, it alleged, brought "shame" to the country at Sharm-el-Sheikh, was appointed National Security Adviser.

"Why an honest adviser of the government, who had the country's interests in mind, is not able to continue," BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad asked.

"Does this government only promote those advisers, who create shame at Sharm-el-Sheikh and make India [ Images ] meekly surrender as far as foreign policy concerned," he posed, referring to former Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon.

He claimed that Saran's differences with Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh on emission cuts were a known fact. Saran, who announced his decision to quit on Friday, was the Prime Minister's special envoy on climate change.

"It is a fact that he was opposed to weakening of India's position on climate change as far as emission cuts are concerned," the BJP spokesperson said.

Prasad said the party demands that the government should explain Saran's decision to quit and the appointment of Menon as NSA against the backdrop of "highly detrimental initiatives taken in Kashmir in the fight against terror and meek submission in dialogue with Pakistan."

This is "a very disturbing scenario", he said adding, BJP takes the developments "very seriously."
