Everyday I see more proof of the holiness of christoterrorism. Really, it is a mystery as to why the Hindoos don't convert to the True Faith of christianism in larger numbers. But I'm sure when they learn about all this they will open their eyes and willingly enter into the 'salvation' (by opium and alcoholism) of the non-existent jeebus and his terrorism called christianism. No? I mean, that's the best reason for conversion it's offered so far (after the non-existence of jeebus)...

ELDORADO, Texas (CNN) -- More than 200 women and children have been removed from a Texas ranch that's home to members of a polygamist sect, but authorities have not identified the girl who called them with allegations of abuse.

The 16-year-old girl, who called authorities last week with allegations of physical and sexual abuse at the compound, may be in the group and using a different name, Marleigh Meisner, a spokeswoman for Texas Child Protective Services, said at a news conference Sunday.

"I am confident that this girl does indeed exist," Meisner said. "I am confident that the allegations that she brought forth are accurate."

Since Thursday, authorities have removed 159 children and 60 adults from the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS) compound in Eldorado, Texas.

Eighteen of the girls have been taken into state custody. Authorities believe all "had been abused or were at immediate risk of future abuse," a state spokesman said.

The others are now housed at a shelter in San Angelo -- about 45 miles north of Eldorado -- where they are being questioned about abuse, Meisner said.

"It's certainly emotional for the children, but they are with caretakers -- people that they're accustomed to being with -- at the time," Meisner said. Many of the adults at the shelter are parents or relatives of the children, she said.

Warren Jeffs, the 52-year-old leader and "prophet" of the 10,000-member FLDS, was convicted in Utah last year on two counts of being an accomplice to rape, charges related to a marriage he performed in 2001. He still faces trial in Arizona on eight charges of sexual conduct with a minor, incest and conspiracy.

Critics of the sect say it forces girls as young as 13 into arranged marriages.

Meisner said the adults cooperated with child protection officials as authorities continued their search for more children.

An arrest warrant was served last week for Dale Evans Barlow, 50, who authorities believe fathered a child with a 16-year-old girl he had married. As of Saturday night, Barlow had not been found, and child welfare workers could not confirm whether the girl or her child had been found.

The church bought 1,900 acres near Eldorado four years ago and built what it calls the YFZ Ranch. It is now home to as many as 400 members who moved from compounds in Arizona and Utah.

YFZ is a reference to a song written by Jeffs, "Yearning For Zion."

Previous visits by CNN revealed the ranch was guarded by armed men equipped with night-vision gear and other high-tech surveillance tools to prevent intruders.

THIS yearâs Holy Week (March 16 to 22), the week that precedes Easter Sunday, was observed as âuntouchability protest weekâ in parts of northern Tamil Nadu. This was in response to a call given by the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the Dalit Christiansâ Liberation Movement to highlight the plight of Dalits in the Christian community. At least 10 churches in Cuddalore and Villupuram districts had to go without or curtail the ceremonies that usually begin with Palm Sunday, celebrated in commemoration of the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. In some places Dalits hoisted black flags atop churches and in a few others they locked up the places of worship. Demanding justice to Dalit Christians, VCK general secretary Thol. Thirumavalavan led a demonstration on March 19 near the Bishopâs House in Puducherry, the headquarters of the Archdiocese of Pondicherry and Cuddalore.

The immediate provocation for the protest was violence against Dalits by âupper casteâ (Vanniar) Christians at Eraiyur in Villupuram district on March 9. In the police firing that followed, two Vanniar Christians were killed.

Dalit Christians of the village have been on a fast since March 7 demanding that the Archbishop recognise the Sagaya Matha Chapel they had built for a new Dalit parish in the village. Their complaint was that they were not treated as equals by the Vanniar Christians within the Church of Our Lady of Rosary, the present Eraiyur parish church, located in the centre of Eraiyur. Archbishop Anthony Aanandarayar was firm that there could not be two churches for the same order in one village.

On the third day of the fast, on March 9, angry Vanniar Christians carrying sticks, poles, iron rods, stones and other weapons stormed the Dalit colony in the village. Over 30 Dalits were injured and about 80 of their houses were damaged.

4 The Church in India is, at the same time, both vital and growing, and nominal and in decline.

a) Much of organized Christianity is based on people movements over the past 400 years and in many denominations Western forms, liberal theology, universalism and a growing nominalism has dried up the rivers of the Spirit to the millions of non-Christians around them. Many congregations have no first-generation Christians from a non-Christian background. Disputes over personalities, power and property have led to many divisions, court cases, a widespread disillusionment and a steady loss of young people to secularism and nominal Hinduism. Pray that present pressures and the work of the Holy Spirit might bring new life to traditional streams of Christianity.

b) The need for change in the Church has never been greater. Pray for:

i) Unity. The All India Christian Council was formed in 1998 to protect and serve Christians from all denominations. Over 2,000 denominations and associations are participating in the AICC. There is greater unity than ever known before, because of the more hostile national environment. The past has been characterised by a spirit of divisiveness. Pray for this unity to mature and develop and to be made visible to the watching world. There also needs to be a greater cooperation and accountability between local churches and sending agencies.

ii) Indigeneity in music, worship and culture â for too long churches have appeared foreign.

iii) Greater reliance on cell/house churches of an Indian model than on Western-style buildings.

iv) More effective discipling of the many being touched or stirred by multiple evangelistic programmes. Pray for a greater integrity of life, earnestness and commitment to the Lord among those evangelizing.

v) More effective outreach through personal evangelism rather than mass rallies.

vi) More relevance to impact the mainstream of national life. The Church is seen to be linked to the marginalized, deprived sections of society. Business, politics, arts, culture, the middle and upper classes have been neglected.

c) Biblical Christianity is thriving:

i) Evangelical pastors in mainline denominations are increasing.

ii) A multiplicity of dynamic, newer Pentecostal and charismatic fellowships have sprung up and spread to many areas.

iii) The number of evangelical denominations has increased and congregations multiplied. There are several key networks linking many denominations â the Pentecostal Fellowship of India (linking all major Pentecostal denominations), the Baptist Evangelical Alliance and the Evangelical Fellowship of India (linking over 100 denominations and agencies). These have been used of God in maturing, stabilizing and mobilizing believers through prayer, conventions, pastors' retreats, coordinating training, literature production, mission and outreach.

iv) The Charismatic movement in the Catholic Church began in 1972 and has spread to nearly every Catholic church. It has had a profound impact, brought many to new life, and stimulated outreach.

d) The growth of the Church during the 1990s was significant but hard to measure. Many networks for intercession for the evangelization of the country, involving millions of Christians, have flourished, such as the Arpana Prayer Network (in 100 cities linking thousands of Christian women) and Quiet Corner Ministries. Millions have become responsive through widely heard radio programmes, massive distributions of Christian literature, extensive use of Christian videos, films and cassettes. Many have come into the Kingdom through multiple efforts to start new congregations. Pray that no attack of the enemy from outside or inside the Church may stunt this growth.

5 The training of Christian workers is fundamental for the health and growth of the Church. Poor discipling and lack of teaching have made nominalism, syncretism and losses to Hinduism a problem for Catholics, Protestants and Independents. There are about 100,000 full-time workers in India; about half are pastoring local churches. There is, on average, one pastor for every six congregations. Pray for:

a) Degree-level seminaries, of which there are over 40. A minority are theologically evangelical. Several for special mention â Union Biblical Seminary in Pune, with 225 students from 50 evangelical denominations and agencies, Asia Biblical Seminary in Tiruvalla, Kerala with 400 students from 31 denominations, Hindustan Bible Institute, etc. Pray for a stream of warm-hearted workers, anointed by the Spirit, to move out from these institutions to India and beyond.

b) Bible schools which now number over 300, having doubled in 10 years. Evangelical institutions are full. Bible schools need to change from merely teaching theology to giving practical skills in church planting.

c) Training centres for indigenous workers, largely for church planters are playing a significant role (FMPB, IEM, etc.). GFA has set up 50 such, with 5,000 in a 3-year programme in 2000.

d) New, creative ways for multiplying leaders must be sought and, in some cases, are being attempted. Many residential institutions are locked into a Western maintenance model which leads to minimal impact on the non-Christian majority and cannot produce the hundreds of thousands of workers needed now.

e) The House/Cell Church Movement is rapidly spreading in many parts of the country. One such is Operation Agapï¿½ in the north and AoG in the south. It is proving culturally appropriate, affordable, biblically authentic and very effective.

6 The growth of the number, size and maturity of Indian cross-cultural outreach agencies is remarkable. In 1973 there were 420 missionaries; in 1983 â 3,017; in 1993 â 12,000 in 200 agencies. By 2000 this had risen to 44,000 in 440+ Protestant/ independent agencies. During the 1990s significant progress was made in upgrading training, improving the quality of ministry, planning strategically, setting goals, initializing research and partnering with others. Pray for:

a) Indian mission agency networking structures play a key role in furthering cooperation, goal-setting and fellowship; major ones being the India Missions Association (132 evangelical agencies representing 21,000 missionaries), CONS, North India Harvest Network.

b) The Asian Theological Association-India and the Indian Institute of Missiology accredit, facilitate and network missions training. There are over 100 schools providing such; almost all started since 1980; IET started 27.

c) The mission agencies themselves, for their leadership to be strategic, for provision of pastoral care and support to their workers, for fruitfulness in ministry and for spiritual unity. The largest agencies: GFA (10,795), CCCI (2,604), IET (1,876), Brethren (1,140), OM (1,000), Mizo Presbyterians (800), New Life (690), IEM (470), EHC (450), FMPB (400). There are 45 Pentecostal missions with over 4,000 workers.

d) Indian missionaries serving in other lands â around 440. Costs for them are much higher. Pray for provision of their finances, etc.

e) OM graduates. The impact of OM on implanting missions vision has been significant. The Association of OM Graduates links together 12,000 full-time Christian workers. Many of these lead some of the most effective agencies in India today.

f) Indian missionaries serving in India face heightened and organized opposition and even persecution. A number of those serving in literature distribution, showing evangelistic films, and in discipling young Christians have been martyred in recent years.

g) A widening of ministry to other needy sections of the population. Hitherto half the cross-cultural missionaries have gone to tribal groups and many of the rest to the downtrodden, marginalized or needy sections of the population. Few are working among the urban middle class, the higher castes, etc. â this needs to be increased, but most existing workers feel inadequately prepared for this challenge.

h) Better and closer relationships between local churches and sending agencies. Many missions are supported by multi-congregational informal prayer networks. There needs to be more accountability between workers and churches.

i) Expatriates serving in India who now number only around 1,000. Tentmaking is one way of entry for new workers, and there are many roles that could be filled by expatriates in support of existing Indian ministries and pioneering contacts in sections of the population not easily reached by indigenous workers. Many international advocates are needed to adopt peoples and areas and raise prayer for barriers to be broken down.

7 The least evangelized areas of India â no other part of the world has such a concentration of unevangelized people. Pray for:

a) The North India Ganges plains with their teeming millions in the Hindi-speaking heartland. In the 5 states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh with 360 million people, live 650,000 Christians, but active committed believers may be no more than 120,000. Christians in India are unequally spread â 70% in the south, 25% in the northeast and only 5% in the more populated north and west.

b) The great cities with their rapid growth and mix of great wealth and abject poverty. Chennai (12% Christian) and Mumbai (5%) are in contrast to Kolkata, Delhi, Varanasi, etc., where Christian witness is very small. Twenty-six percent of the urban population live in slums, many being newcomers to the cities. There are 41 million Indians without a home.

8 The least reached mega people groups of India which are resident in many different states.

a) The Brahmin are the highest and priestly caste in the Hindu world. They number 40 million but there may be only 18,000 who openly profess Christianity.

b) Other Forward Castes â the Rajput (40m), Mahratta (28m), Jat (12m), Bhumihar (4m), Arora (3.8m), Samon (3.7m), etc., may have no more than 5,000 Christians. The forward castes have a very negative view of Christian workers â Dalit, simple, cowardly, followers of the colonialists, rejectors of Indian culture and touting Western ideas. There is little effective ministry among them. These people groups will need a different and more sensitive, loving approach and adequate preparation of workers if the barriers to faith in Christ are to be breached.

c) Many Backward Caste peoples, such as the Yadava (31.5m), Kurmi (25.7m), Ahir (25.4m), Gujar (8.5m), Sonar (7.1m) have no known Christians at worst, or a few thousand at best.

d) Dalit groups have responded more, such as the 47m Chamar, with 500,000 Christians, but the 5.5m Dhobi and 7.2m Pasi have shown little response.

e) There are still numerous tribal peoples un- or under-evangelized.

i) The Banjara (Lambadi) are the people from whom the world's Roma (Gypsy) have come. Mahars have turned to Buddhism in large numbers, but are one of the most responsive groups in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. The Banjara number 4.8 million, but only 1% are Christian.

ii) The 10 million Bhil and 10.5 million Gond are slower in committing their lives to Christ despite years of outreach.

f) The Sindhi â 36 million equally divided between Muslims (in Pakistan) and Hindu (in India). There are 300 Christians among them in India, and about double that globally.

g) There are 205 people groups with populations of over 10,000 that are still totally unreached.

9 Specific communities requiring specialized ministry:

a) The increasingly affluent 250 million of the middle classes have virtually no meaningful contact with Christianity and they are the key sector of society in the 21st Century.

b) Students numbering over 10 million in 250 universities and 10,000 colleges. A high proportion use addictive drugs. Pray for the nation-wide ministries of YFC, ICCC, Intercollegiate Pentecostal Fellowship and the Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI/IFES). The latter has groups and staff workers in most campuses, winning new Christians annually. Pray for a clear, vibrant witness to the thousands of non-Christian students. Pray for their growth and integration into local churches. There are no UESI staff workers in Kashmir or Himachal Pradesh.

c) Young people â the statistics are solemn: 100 million school drop-outs, 50% living below the poverty line, 24% severely malnourished. Many live in a moral and spiritual vacuum. Most churches do not have the resources or know-how to minister to them. YFC, Blessing Youth Ministry, CEF, SU, CCCI and others reach out to some.

d) Children in crisis â no country can rival India's need. Of India's nearly 400m under 18, 70m+ are child labourers, 10m are bonded labourers (a form of slavery to pay off family debts), 13m are homeless, 2m are street children without families. There is widespread child abuse, and there is a deficit of 40m girls because of female foeticide â over 20,000 ultrasound clinics thrive on this illegal practice. There are 575,000 child prostitutes and there is a massive trade in Bangladeshi and Nepali girls sold into prostitution. Pray that these desperate needs may be addressed through loving Christian ministries.

e) Leprosy sufferers number 1.5m, 63% of the world's total. Christian agencies, in particular TLM and their 2,000 workers in 50 centres, minister to them.

f) The blind. India's 10m blind represent over a quarter of the world's total. Few have learned the Braille script, nor are there many materials in Braille in Indian languages. The Torch Trust for the Blind is committed to producing the whole Bible in Braille in the 12 major languages of India. At present there are some books in nine languages, but none have the whole Bible. Other agencies with ministry to blind people are Mission to the Blind and India Fellowship for Physically Handicapped. Compass Braille is an agency specializing in producing Braille Scriptures in Indian languages by means of computer.

g) AIDS has spread rapidly and is worst in Mumbai (3% of population), Maharashtra and Karnataka (2.4%), Tamil Nadu (1.8%) and NE India. Many fear that by 2000 there will be 10m carrying the virus, or 1% of the population of India. By 2020 there could be 200m carrying HIV â if present trends continue unchecked. This could become a catastrophe for India and only now are the authorities and Christian churches and agencies beginning to address the need for effective preventive and care ministries and also the need to minister to drug addicts â a major source of infection. A massive mobilization is needed.

RELIGION

India's constitution provides for full religious freedom of worship and witness for all religions. The rise of Hindutva extremism resulted in a hate campaign against Muslims in the early 1990s and against Christians in the late 1990s as being followers of 'foreign' religions. Anti-conversion legislation and imposing legal restrictions on Christian activities has been strongly demanded. Some states have enacted such legislation and condoned a rising wave of violence and even murder of Christian workers. Many are concerned at the practical erosion of guaranteed religious freedoms. In the present climate of persecution, for Christians, statistics below are not given in full, but are representative of what God is doing. Persecution index 29th in the world.

Rahul, Tony Blair and the Pope

Among the various means adopted by the Church for extending its dominion, once the most cunning and powerful, and used in the case of monarchical societies when other means have failed, is to plant a committed spouse into the royal family through enticement, who in turn first converts the fountainhead of power (usually the king) and then forcibly converts the populace.

Your article on Rahulâs nocturnal escapades from his âDiscover Orissaâ tour into unrecorded, one-to-one night-long discussions with proselytising Christian missionaries in their remote camps (March 23) was an eye-opener.

Tony Blairâs projection of Rahul as âprime-minister materialâ during his recent India visit, as reported on March 21-22, was a further shock. These two apparently unrelated events synchronize with an alien strategic game-plan.

First, about Tony Blair. He was an immensely popular Prime Minister of the UK till the Brits discovered that he had lied about the presence of weapons of mass destruction in Saddamâs Iraq and had perversely dragged his country into fighting Bushâs war in Iraq. From then on his resignation was imminent. Promptly on resigning he converted to Catholicism (from the Anglican Church). It may be noted that his wife Cherie was already a Catholic, and after conversion Blair has met the Pope at least once, if not more times.

Next, about Papal tactics for extending the âKingdom of Godâ. Among the various means adopted by the Church for extending its dominion, once the most cunning and powerful, and used in the case of monarchical societies when other means have failed, is to plant a committed spouse into the royal family through enticement, who in turn first converts the fountainhead of power (usually the king) and then forcibly converts the populace. This was first used by the Christians in the Eastern Roman Empire in the 3rd-4th centuries AD, which literally gave Christianity the first taste of political power (prior to which they were a persecuted lot). Christianity has not looked back since then.

Another critical example of successful execution of this tactic was the subjugation of Lithuania in the 14th century. The Lithuanians were nature worshippers (pagans according to Christianity) whose gods and goddesses were akin to Hinduism not only in functionality but even in name. Their highest god was Deva, goddess of dawn was Usra, goddess of wealth and fortune was Lakma, and so on. They ruled a powerful empire stretching from Catholic Poland (nay, rest of Europe) in the West to the borders of Moscow in Orthodox Russia and from north to south extended from the Baltic to the Black sea. This was about a thousand years after the rest of Europe had converted. Countless expeditions sent out by various Popes to defeat them (the Northern Crusades) had all ended in abysmal failure. Then the thousand-year-old trick was played out again. The prince of Lithuania was enticed into marrying the princess of Poland. And forcible conversion followed. Entire Europe became the Land of Christ. Within two centuries the Lithuanian empire disappeared, in three centuries the Lithanian nation. Only the language remains today as identity.

Now let us return to India. The Papacy has identified the current millenium as the âMillenium of Asiaâ. Needless to say, the conversion of India, the mother of most of the worldâs religions and the heart of Asia, is the fulcrum of this plan. And when things become critical, the brahmastra is brought into play. Only the ground has to be ripe.

The growing political acceptability of the pseudo-Gandhi family, in symbyotic symphony with the growth of sycophancy and near-collapse of public ethics (in part due to the pseudo-secular hold over our education systems), provided all the trappings of a monarchical, one-family system. Thus, the ground is observed to be ripe. Now the insertion. Sonia Gandhi was a good plant, but being noticeably European in a country that had just rejected the European yoke (colonialism), was transparently visible to all. But not so her son.

To implement the plan, two issues had to be worked out. One, the motivation of the selected person. Do the nocturnal escapades (first para) provide a hint? Two, clearing the path for the takeover. Tony Blairâs comments for an unsuspecting Indian middle-class now fall into place. Now we see how these two events, apparently unrelated, are elementary manifestations of the grand Papal strategy to annihilate Hinduism.

How long will we Hindus continue to sleep? It must be noted that just passing laws in some assemblies, or even grassroots work among our neglected sections, are insufficient. Awakening to the contemporary civilisational challenges at a global level, critical analysis of these challenges akin to the Theory of Games, and then permeation of this awakening into the common population to a degree that sycophantic, quasi-monarchical traits disappear from our public, are the real challenges for us. Are we ready to take them up?

It is a standard tactic -- whenever Christians are caught doing something reprehensible, the Goras try to label them as belonging to a narrow sect that is on the fringes of mainstream Christianity. This way, they can keep lookin good. The same trick they played with Hitler who is even today claimed to be not a Christian, which is total lie. With other faiths, they take the opposite route. There, they take reprehensible behaviour of fringe elements and claim it is a major characteristic of that faith. 

It is that and much more. A standard approach by Western columnists is to refer to Hinduism as a cult, albeit less so than some decades ago.

Which is a supreme irony-the Bible in all its uncouth smiting and poking and harloting, with a messianic figure offerring protection from the anger of his father and everlasting destruction to non-believers is passed not as the cult that it defines but as a model of religious sophistication.

What is of course pathetic is the utter non-chalance of the idiots in the Indian opinion forming press. I guess they need to consider their next free meal.

In this methodology, They acquired a piece of land, often with great difficulty. Then the missionary arrives. He and his family worship on Sunday. They are the first members of that congregation. He learns the language and preaches the gospel. Through the years a few individual converts are won from this group. Sometimes its a woman, a man, a boy, a girl who decide to follow Jesus. Very often, a few employees of the mission become Christian. These may be masons hired to erect the buildings, helpers in the home, rescued persons or orphans. In due time, a church building is erected.

But Missionaries now are not satisfied by the result from such a Approach. Some of the reasons are

1. Lower Returns: The expectations were often frustrated by meager response. In the light of the this Professor Latourette writes:

The advanced cultures and faiths of Asia and North Africa did not yield so readily as did those of the primitive folk, either to Western civilization or toÂ Christianity. This was to be expected. It has usually been characteristic of advanced cultures and their religions that they have been much slower to disintegrate before an invading civilization.

2. Rising Nationalism: Missionaries feel that the days in which the mission stations can exert a major influence on the affairs of Eastern nations are drawing to a close. The temper of these days in the East is not that of humbly sitting at the feet of missionary tutors. They feel that sleeping nations are now awake. Mission schools & Hospitals in Asia and North Africa no longer have the influence which they once had. For example, Up till 1945 the Central Provinces of India had not produced a single qualified doctor. Its university had no standard medical school. The only fully qualified doctors were a few immigrants from other provinces and missionary doctors from abroad. But today there are four hundred students in the medical college of its university. As this flood of physicians flows out over the cities and towns and eventually the villages of this province, the present near monopoly of the Christian hospitals is likely to be destroyed.

3. Social Situation: The missionaries feel that Conversion is not a Accepted norm in society. Each convert, as he becomes a Christian, is seen by his kin as one who leaves âusâ and joins âthem.â He leaves our gods to worship their gods. Thus the Christian cause wins the individual but loses the family. As a result, conglomerate congregations, made up of converts won in this fashion,Â grow very slowly.

New Methodology: People Movements:

Now they have taken a new approach which they refer as Peoples movement. According to them, It is a God-designed pattern by which not ones but thousands will acknowledge Christ as Lord, and grow into full discipleship as people after people, clan after clan, tribe after tribe and community after community are claimed for and nurtured in the Christian faith. They claim several list of movements in India to back their claim some of them are Malas and Madigas, the Nagas and Garas, the Mahars and Bhils, and many others.

Some of the salient aspects of new methodology is as follows:-

1. Aim for a cluster of growing congregations: They now target a cluster of growing, indigenous congregations every member of which remains in close contact with his kindred. For example, if they were evangelizing the taxi drivers of Taipei, then their goal is to win some taxi drivers, some university professors, some farmers and some fishermen, but rather to establish churches made up largely of taxi drivers, their wives and children, and their assistants and mechanics.

2. Concentrate on one people: The principle is that the national leader or the missionary and his helpers, should concentrate on one people. If they are going to establish a cluster of growing congregations amongst, let us say, the Nair people of Kerala then they make all the missionaries and their helpersÂ to focus their work among the Nairs. They will proclaim the gospel to Nairs, saying quite openly to them, âWe are hoping that within your great caste there soon will be thousands of followers of Jesus Christ who also remain solidly in the Nair community.â They will, of course, not worship the old Nair gods, but then plenty of Nairs donât worship their old gods. Plenty of Nairs are Communist and ridicule their old gods. Nairs whom God calls, who choose to believe in Christ, are going to love their neighbors more than they did before and walk in the light. They will be saved and beautiful people. They will remain Nairs, while at the same time they become Christians.

3. Donot Differentiate: They are now encouraging converts to remain with their people The principle is to encourage converts to remain thoroughly one with their own people in most matters.Â

Bishop J. W. Pickett, in his important study Christâs Way to Indiaâs Heart, says:

The process of extracting individuals from their setting in Hindu or Moslem communities does not build a Church. On the contrary it rouses antagonism against Christianity and builds barriers against the spread of the Gospel. Moreover, that process has produced many unfortunate, and not a few tragic results in the lives of those most deeply concerned. It has deprived the converts of the values represented by their families and friends and made them dependent for social support to the good life and restraint on evil impulses upon men andÂ women, their colleagues in the Christian faith, with whom they have found it difficult to develop fellowship and a complete sense of community. It has sacrificed much of the convertâs evangelistic potentialities by separating him from his People. It has produced anaemic Churches that know no true leadership and are held together chiefly by common dependence on the mission or the missionaryÂ

Now according to them a mere change of name accomplishes nothing.Â Thus a Christward movement within a people can be defeated either by extracting the new Christians from their society (i.e. by allowing them to be squeezed out by their non-Christian relatives).

4. Convert in Groups: The principle is to try to get group decisions for Christ. If only one person decides to follow Jesus do not baptize him immediately. Say to him, âYou and I will work together to lead another five, or ten, or God willing, fifty of your people to accept Jesus Christ as Saviour so that when you are baptized, you will be baptized with them.â Ostracism is very effective against one lone person. But ostracism is weak indeed when exercised against a group of a dozen.

5. Do not try to change society: Now its seems that Missionaries donot want to upset the applecart by taking own ageold institutions. According to them, letÂ PaulÂ did not attack all imperfect social institutions. For example, he did not do away with slavery. Paul said to the slave, âBe a better slave.â He said to the slave owner, âBe a kindlier master.â

More Catholic schools closing across US

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - For 46 years, crime, recessions and hurricanes proved no threat to the daily ritual of St. Monica School, where the entire blue-and-white uniformed student body gathered outside each morning to join in prayer.

Come June, though, the tradition will fade away, and "amen" will close St. Monica's morning recitations for the last time. The school, a home-away-from-home for mostly minority students, will close.

As Pope Benedict XVI next week makes his first trip to the U.S. as pontiff, Catholic schools across the country, long a force in educating the underprivileged regardless of their faith, face the same fate as St. Monica.

About 1,267 Catholic schools have closed since 2000 and enrollment nationwide has dropped by 382,125 students, or 14 percent, according to the National Catholic Education Association. The problem is most apparent in inner cities, in schools like St. Monica with large concentrations of minorities whose parents often struggle to pay tuition rather than send them to failing public schools.

"We lose the kids. They can't afford it. And then as the school gets smaller, you have to raise the tuition to pay the costs and it's a vicious cycle," said Sister Dale McDonald, the association's director of public policy and education research.

The pope will gather with Catholic educators during his visit, but not those who run elementary schools â the meeting is with college presidents.

St. Monica has been operating on a deficit for about a decade. Enrollment went from 368 students in 2004 to 196 today. Requests for financial aid increased. The Archdiocese of Miami devoted more than $2.7 million in subsidies over the past seven years to keep it open.

"There's not the numbers there to keep going," said Kristen Hughes, superintendent of schools for the archdiocese. "The economy really has had a huge impact."

McDonald notes Catholic schools have been closing since their peak in the 1960s, when there were 12,893 schools with about 5.25 million students. Today, there are 7,378 schools with 2.27 million students. The decline in enrollment is accelerating, fueling further school closures.

The recent economic downturn is being blamed for some of them, but McDonald said dioceses' huge payouts to settle sex abuse lawsuits could have played a role too.

"We have no direct correlation," she said, "but as the dioceses have gone into financial debt the funds to subsidize these schools would be diminished."

High school enrollment has remained roughly the same and schools are opening in suburbs, particularly in the West and Southwest. The Northeast and Midwest have been hit hardest.

Some dioceses have turned to public-private partnerships to keep schools open, and others have created consortiums of schools to share resources. In the Archdiocese of Washington, officials plan to convert seven schools into publicly funded charter schools this fall.

Taking taxpayer money means sacrificing the core element of Catholic schools: their faith. The schools won't be able to have prayers, and will have to strip religion from the curriculum. That has prompted petitions from parents who want the schools to stay as they are.

"What is lost is the teachings of the Catholic faith," said Joe McKenzie, a 41-year-old technology consultant who has two children at St. Gabriel School in Washington. "That voice will be silent."

McDonald said she is concerned, too. Catholic schools were once considered vital to passing on the faith to the next generation and to exposing multitudes of non-Catholics to the church. With declining enrollment, the church will need to find new means.

Perhaps most distressing to McDonald and others is the loss of schools in the inner city.

"The church has always had a strong sense of mission, particularly to the poor," she said. "As it becomes more and more difficult, not only on the poor but on middle-income people, we're not really fulfilling the mission of the church to serve all if we only can afford to serve the people who can afford the big bucks."

The issue has caught the attention of President Bush, who called faith-based schools "lifelines of learning" in his State of the Union address and said they were disappearing at an alarming rate. The White House will host a summit on the topic later this month.

Advocates for Catholic schools say it's in the public's interest to preserve them. McDonald said Catholic school students save the government $19.8 billion annually.

"They've left these urban inner-city schools when they close and they have to go somewhere," said Virginia Gentles, who oversees the nonpublic education office of the U.S. Department of Education. "It could be tough for the districts financially and from other standpoints to absorb those children."

For now, parents still line up in cars outside St. Monica each afternoon to pick their children up. Many say how sad they are to see it close.

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE - Pope Benedict XVI said Tuesday he was "deeply ashamed" of the clergy sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic church and will work to make sure paedophiles don't become priests.

Benedict was answering questions submitted in advance by reporters aboard a special Alitalia airliner as he was flying from Rome to Washington to begin his first papal pilgrimage to the United States.

"It is a great suffering for the Church in the United States and for the Church in general and for me personally that this could happen," Benedict said. "It is difficult for me to understand how it was possible that priests betray in this way their mission ... to these children."

"I am deeply ashamed and we will do what is possible so this cannot happen again in the future," the pope said.

Benedict pledged that paedophiles would not be priests in the Roman Catholic church.

"We will absolutely exclude paedophiles from the sacred ministry," Benedict said in English. "It is more important to have good priests than many priests. We will do everything possible to heal this wound."

Benedict's pilgrimage was the first trip by a pontiff to the United States since the scandal involving priests sexually abusing young people rocked U.S. dioceses and triggered lawsuits that have cost the Church hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements.

Paedophilia is "absolutely incompatible" with the priesthood," Benedict said.

Vatican officials selected four questions to be read by the journalists to the pontiff aboard the plane.

Benedict described his pilgrimage as a journey to meet a "great people and a great Church." He spoke about the American model of religious values within a system of separation of church and state.

From a presidential welcome, to two Masses at baseball stadiums, to a stop for prayer at ground zero in New York, Benedict will get a heavy dose of the American experience.

President Bush planned to make the unusual gesture of greeting him at Andrews Air Force Base â the first time the president has greeted a foreign leader there.

The pope said he will discuss immigration with Bush, including the difficulties of families who are separated by immigration.

While the pope and Bush differ on such major issues on the Iraq war, capital punishment and the U.S. embargo against Cuba, they do find common ground in opposing abortion, gay marriage and stem cell research.

White House press secretary Dana Perino, asked about the pope's comments about the clergy sex abuse scandal, said she wouldn't rule out that the topic would come up in conversation between the pope and the president.

But she added that "I don't think it's necessarily on the president's top priorities" for his agenda in talking with the pope.

Perino said the two leaders would likely discuss human rights, religious tolerance and the fight against violent extremism.

As for the war in Iraq, Perino said, "Obviously, there were differences years back."

She downplayed those, emphasizing instead a strong bond between Bush and the pope.

Benedict will give a speech at the United Nations during the second, New York leg of his six-day trip.

Benedict will turn 81 on Wednesday. He seems spry and aides pronounce him in good health.

A crowd of up to 12,000, larger than the gathering for Queen Elizabeth II, is expected Wednesday at the White House.

The White House is also planning a gala dinner that evening â although Benedict won't be there. The White House says he will be attending a prayer service with American bishops. It would also be unusual for a pope to attend a state dinner.

After making little headway in his efforts to rekindle the faith in his native Europe, the German-born Benedict will be visiting a country where many of the 65 million Catholics are eager to hear what he says.

A poll released Sunday by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University found eight in 10 Catholics are somewhat or very satisfied with his leadership.

Benedict is expected to stress the importance of moral values and take on what he sees are the dangers of moral relativism â that is, that there are no absolute rights and wrongs.

Benedict's homily at New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral to a gathering of clergy will be watched for more comments about his response to the scandal. Bertone said Benedict will seek healing and reconciliation.

Also while in New York, he will also visit the Park East synagogue, part of his efforts for close relations with Jews whom, like his predecessor John Paul II, he has referred to as "our older brothers in faith."

He will celebrate Mass at Nationals Park in Washington and Yankee Stadium in New York, his last major event of the trip.

A follow-up to Megan's Law, enacted by New Jersey in 1994, the so-called "Egan's Law" is named for Cardinal Edward Egan of New York and Cardinal Bernard Law of Boston, who are both accused of covering up sexual abuse by priests under their authority. Like Megan's Law, Egan's Law is expected to spread quickly to other states, but for parents in towns across New Jersey, it's on the books none too soon.

"Last year, we discovered that a Catholic Church had been in our neighborhood for 30 years! And nobody told us!" said Ruth Harper of Redbrook, N.J. "My sons used to walk by that church every day on their way to school. Even now I shudder to think of what might have happened."

"I always told my kids to steer clear of that place," added neighbor Scott Carlyle. "But that's because there were a lot of strange people going in and out at odd hours, even at midnight on Saturdays. I was worried it was some kind of druggie hangout.

"To think the whole time it was a Roman Catholic Church. Now I know why they had all those stained glass windows â. so nobody could look in."

Critics, however, charge that Egan's Law is unconstitutional, specifically because it relies on religious profiling and is intended to safeguard only one segment of the population : young males. But State Sen. Carmela Truto, a Catholic who co-sponsored the bill, used church doctrine itself to prove only one segment needs protection.

"In the Catholic Church, after 2,000 years, Mary is still a Virgin," she said. "So clearly, they're not interested in girls."

That statement, however, angered Vatican spokesman Edgar Palowski, who said it propagated a common misconception about the church. "This doesn't get reported enough," he said, "but it's a fact that our priests abuse just as many girls as boys."

(I can't believe i'm having to discuss this, but..) Vatican spokesman Edgar does not understand that we would still not expect the ratio of abuse to be as high as 1:1. So there is obviously a preference for male boys. We can also venture to state that these fellows are 'essentially' sodomizing the infant Caesar. And we can say this confidently because these are the same fellows always striving to discover "the true meaning" and "the true design".

Even if one didn't see the link.
But the way I understood Dhu's post was that even in jest they can't submit that the numbers of boy and girl children being abused by christopriests of the Catholic variety are approximately the same. It's just not likely. Therefore that itself shows off clearly how it must be satire, since no one is expected to believe it.
(Protestant churches abuse girls and adult women in high numbers, so I think there it is at least 50:50 genderwise.) Paedophilia and in particular preying on male children is something the catholic church is into on more occasions, even though they have indeed pounced on many female children and young-adult/adult women too (e.g. vast number of cases of abused nuns in the world).
