US Elections 2008 - III
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->What was the downside to Clintons to not support Obama?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
NY senate seat for Hillary which is dominated by blacks and for Bill legacy.
Bill is still doing what he is good, make news. Two days back his X and Y vote theory.
But I think they had spent lot of time in Democratic Party, so they are just towing party line, but wait for back punch from them.
I also feel, daughter may enter into politics.
Quick response from Democrats on Mc choice.
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->HOPE ITS PALIN, I WOULD VOTE TWICE JUST TO STICK IT TO OBAMA
.........

It's a gamble, but it's worth it. Good for John and another great day for America!

_____________
Hoo Ray! Fu*k the DNC. Fu*k Obama. They are so fu*k up.
They brushed off the women base like dirt. and the GOP pick them up. Go McCain. Go GO OG !

________________

I'm really excited. Not only did he choose a woman, but he didn't pick the big guys.
He picked the anchorage girl who is a family woman, just had a baby, and is a former beauty queen!
She's smart and very nice

__________
Buuuuurn Obama Buuuurn! What a slap in the face.

If it's Palin, I will put blood and sweat into campaigning for that team.

________
Yeah!!!!!! I'm doing Oprah's version of the happy dance.

_____________
Leave it to the GOP to pick a woman for the ticket.
Obama snubbed the most viable and experienced woman who received 18 million votes, for another MALE.
I have a feeling, somewhere somehow, Hillary is snickering!

___________
If this is true, this moves me from staying at home to voting McCain.

__________
Do you all hear the sound of the running feet of all the women the Obama camp tossed aside? It is THUNDEROUS!!!!

__________
I certainly had not planned a donation to McCain but when/if this is announced I will make a donation!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's it for me. I will be voting McCain/Palin, a Republican team, for the very first time in my life. YEOW, how my life has changed this year.
________
WOW! Brilliant move by the McCain campaign!
So much for McCain being against women's rights and equal pay...
I can't wait til Hillary can mutter under her breath- I TOLD YOU SO- you stupid arses!

__________
This pick will help cure the heartache of HRC supporters. I know that it lifted my heart already. I'm in so much joy.

Absolute unknown even in conservative circle, governor for less than 2 years! Sen Stevens trial coming up. Her own state's approved just last week of investigating her in another nepotism/cronyism case. How does McCain expect to rally his base? At this point, does his base even exists? Biden will run circles around her during debate.
Romney could have done a far better job for McCain. It's a ploy to get Hillary's women supporter, don't think it'll work in Nov.
She is pro-choice, hunter(pro-gun), Excutive, reformer, Oil woman. She came up with policy that oil revenue will be shared by state. 80% approval rating. Conservative are jumping they are very happy for this choice.
If you compare with BHO, no excutive experience. BHO was just a community organizer, 2 year Senate, since he became Senator he is running for President and "Just Words".
Much as folks may not like Obama, McCain's choice of VP is not earth shaking except to diehard Repubs. The Democrats already did it in 1988 when Dukakis running mate was Geraldine Ferraro.

McCain's choice shows he is in scoring points and not serious. He is weak on economy and should have some won with business background. He is 72 years old and should have picked someone the people can rely on to replace him. Again the choice wont meet the requirements.
Centerist Democrats and Conservative will come out and vote for McCain/Palian ticket.
Race will be interesting.
CNN and NBC is back in Misogynist mode.

BHO or Biden had no experience in Economy but they are more experienced in Plagiarism. Double duty. <!--emo&Big Grin--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Among women sexism is a big issue, don't forget woman are 53 or 56% of US population and still waiting for their day.
Democrats are holding Congress and Senate may go to Democrats, President ship should go to GOP otherwise Democrats will mess up everything. All loonies and no work done. Current Congress is busy passing bills to recognize animals, birds, bridges and who no what? What they have done for oil crisis except Pelosi said day before yesterday to demonstrators that she will drill their brains. I hope she lose her election, I am waiting for that day.
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->McCain's choice shows he is in scoring points and not serious. <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Absolutely. The old man's lost it or as Barak said, the guy 'doesn't get it'.
He's 72/73 and puts an inexperienced person heart-beat away from Presidency. Running Alaska for couple months (most people on dole, no income tax, no opposition from democrats) is not exactly going to cut it, it's tougher to be mayor of small city like Cincinnati or Dallas. The Obama inexperience argument just went up in smoke. Her oil connections at this point is a liability. If she's pro-choice, it will keep hard core GOP base away and the evangelical machine will not come through solely this one issue. Her gun loving isn't gonna help as this election's not about <i>guns-god-gay</i> the way Rove made it in past. If McCain wanted a women governor, Jodi Rell would have been a better choice and delivered Connecticut - a state that's not gone republican for decades. Or even Christine Todd Whitman who has experience, was popular and could have delivered New Jersey and possibly PA or even NY.
Palin delivers Alaska that's always been Republican - no net gain.

All in all, seems like a desperate move like Mondale did picking up Ferraro, MCain will be lucky if he doesn't beat Mondale's record (who won in 2 states out of 50?).
This race is over.
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin--><b>Info on Palin, the Warrior :</b>
Palin made an unsuccessful bid for Lieutenant Governor, coming in second to Loren Leman in a four-way race. After Frank Murkowski resigned from his long-held U.S. Senate seat in mid-term to become governor, Palin interviewed to be his possible successor. Instead, Murkowski appointed his daughter, then-Alaska State Representative Lisa Murkowski.

<b>Governor Murkowski appointed Palin Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, where she served from 2003 to 2004 until resigning in protest over what she called the "lack of ethics" of fellow Alaskan Republican leaders, who ignored her whistleblowing complaints of legal violations and conflicts of interest. After she resigned, she exposed the state Republican party's chairman, Randy Ruedrich, one of her fellow Oil & Gas commissioners, who was accused of doing work for the party on public time, and supplying a lobbyist with a sensitive e-mail. Palin filed formal complaints against both Ruedrich and former Alaska Attorney General Gregg Renkes, who both resigned; Ruedrich paid a record $12,000 fine.</b>

Palin, running on a clean-government campaign, executed an upset victory over then-Gov. Murkowski in the Republican gubernatorial primary. Despite the lack of support from party leaders and being outspent by her Democratic opponent, she went on to win the general election in November 2006, defeating former Governor Tony Knowles. Palin said in 2006 that education, public safety, and transportation would be three cornerstones of her administration.

When elected, Palin became the first woman to be Alaska's governor, and the youngest governor in Alaskan history at 42 years old upon taking office. Palin was also the first Alaskan governor born after Alaska achieved U.S. statehood. She was also the first Alaskan governor not to be inaugurated in Juneau, instead choosing to hold her inauguration ceremony in Fairbanks. She took office on December 4, 2006.

<b>Highlights of Governor Palin's tenure include a successful push for an ethics bill, and also shelving pork-barrel projects supported by fellow Republicans. Palin successfully killed the Bridge to Nowhere project that had become a nationwide symbol of wasteful earmark spending. "Alaska needs to be self-sufficient, she says, instead of relying heavily on 'federal dollars,' as the state does today."</b>

She has challenged the state's Republican leaders, helping to launch a campaign by Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell to unseat U.S. Congressman Don Young and publicly challenging Senator Ted Stevens to come clean about the federal investigation into his financial dealings. Fred Barnes of The Weekly Standard praised Palin as a "politician of eye-popping integrity" and referred to her rise as "a great (and rare) story of how adherence to principle—especially to transparency and accountability in government—can produce political success."

She is pro-life.
Palin is a crazy EJ
She deliberately gave birth to a Downs embryo

A rational pro-life person would make exceptions for deformed foetus, rape, health of mother etc

Until now, I was voting Mccain, not anymore

I dont want an EJ
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->She deliberately gave birth to a Downs embryo<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
For some people its very difficult to kill baby. Some people can deliberately destroy life.
She is pro-life.

I am pro-life and not EJ.
My one uncle was with down Syndrome, wonderful kind person, passed away 6 months back.

She is a hunter, what respect for life ?
An extreme pro-life position, and she does not believe in evolution
A creationist, whacko

Likely to fund more EJs for India
She was able to fight against old GOP club against corruption, strong woman with values.
As far as Gun, I don't hunt but shoot and member of NRA.
<!--QuoteBegin-Mudy+Aug 30 2008, 05:51 AM-->QUOTE(Mudy @ Aug 30 2008, 05:51 AM)<!--QuoteEBegin-->She is pro-life.

I am pro-life and not EJ.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->Mudy, pro-life is a term with a fixed meaning. You support life for your own children. But in popular English the phrase pro-life particularly means to be anti-abortion for <i>everyone else</i> as well. That is, they tread on other people's rights. Pro-life people bomb abortion clinics, kill doctors who perform abortion and the rest.
You're not that sort, why use that term?

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->As far as Gun, I don't hunt but shoot and member of NRA.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->Again, not the same. You are not a trigger happy nut. You don't hunt (naturally) - you're a vegetarian besides.
They feel they have a right to shoot first, ask questions later. It's not the Right to Bear Arms that the gun-controversy in the US is about, but actually it's the right they think they have to end up shooting and killing someone without getting into trouble with the law for it (that is, they think the law should consider this as 'self-defense' even in those cases where the self actually needed no defense). Bearing arms without the right to shoot and maim/kill is meaningless, the latter is what they are actually after. Their lack of judgement/itchy-trigger-finger is what is most bothersome. And most home-turf shootout incidents turn out to have been unnecessary and provoked by neighbours (going by "Neighbours from hell" type programs on America).

Those two items (pro-life vs your position on life of kids, pushy gun-owner who likes to hunt vs you having learnt to shoot) are only very superficial similarities to your own situation - her christovalues are very different from yours.
And killing animals for sport negates any 'values' she is supposed to have; I could never identify/relate to such a person.
