A survivor of a powerful bomb blast in a crowded Hindu temple is watched over in Imphal, capital of the north-eastern state of Manipur. Four people were killed and 34 were injured, including at least three US citizens, in a grenade attack at a Hindu temple in eastern India's Manipur state, doctors and soldiers said.(AFP)

Thiruvananthapuram: Three persons working in a tea-stall in Sabarimala have been arrested even as <b>security has been stepped up in major temples across the state including the hill shrine in view of the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary on Wednesday.</b>

The youths, who were arrested on Tuesday night, belonged to Palani in Tamil Nadu. They secured their jobs by giving false names concealing their true identity, the Sannidhanam police said.

<b>Their actual names are <span style='color:red'>Hakim, Allapicha and Shahul Hameed </span>while their identity cards, required for working in Sabarimala where the pilgrimage season is on, showed the names as Rajendran, Alagiriswamy and Shanmughanathan respectively.</b>

They were interrogated and Tamil Nadu police had been informed of the arrests to ascertain their antecedents including whether they had any connection with any extremist outfits, police said.

Security had been tightened in and around the hill shrine since Tuesday where pilgrims continued to pour in thousands.

<b>Metal detectors have been installed in five vital points including the 'holy 18 steps' just below the sanctum sanctorum of the hill shrine. Mobile phones and cameras were strictly prohibited.</b>

Security had also been strengthened in Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple.

हाईकोर्ट के निर्देशों के अनुरूप फैजाबाद के जिला न्यायाधीश ने छह जनवरी को मुकदमा इलाहाबाद स्थानांतरित कर दिया।  उल्लेखनीय है कि अयोध्या अधिग्रहीत स्थल पर पिछले वर्ष पांच जुलाई 2005 को आंतकी हमले में पांच आतंकी सुरक्षा बलों की गोली से मारे गए थे और इस मामले में उन्हें सहयोग देने के आरोप में पांच अन्य आतंकियों डा. इरफान, आरिफ इकबाल, मोहम्मद अजीज, मोहम्मद नसीम एवं मोहम्मद शकील पर मुकदमा चल रहा है।

Case against the conspirators of the failed terrorist strike on Ram Janma Bhumi Ayodhya of July 5, 2005 was going on in Faizabad court. This case had to be transferred to Allahabad High Court since no single lawyer in Faizabad district agreed to defend the case of these people. Let us see who will take up the case for them in Allahabad.

The above seems to be the latest subterfuge after successful imlementation in the Afzal case. Lack of defense is on purpose. The ploy is to provide none or hardly worthy representation to known terrorists and when they are convicted, stall on grounds of inadequate representation.

While it seems very possible what you said but is it practical to be able to 'control' hundreds of registered lawyers of a civil court to not take up a defence case? Maybe, they weren't even approached...

Also, isn't it a standard norm in such cases for government to provide the legal services to the defendants? Also where are all the bleeding hearts - why dont they take up their case now rather than after they are convicted?

Bleeding hearts (Read Nandita Haksar and her cohorts) will not take the case on purpose is what I am saying. The weight of proof will be overwhelming against the accused and they will lose. It is easy for her not to defend and then when convicted claim, hey the guy didnt have adequate defense. Is'nt that what she did with Afzal too? She took up the case, then ceased representation, and now that the fellow got convicted, she claims Afzal didnt have proper representation. Perverse ploy but hey Afzal lives and what is more? He is made into a hero!

Same thing has been repeated in the case of the terrorist who was arrested in the case of bomb blast in Sankat Mochan Mandir, Varanasi. No lawyer came forward to take up the defence of Waliullah, accused in the case. Court has therefore shifted the case to Gaziabad. Next hearing is on March 12th.

गाजियाबाद, जासं : बनारस बमकांड के आरोपी वलीउल्लाह मामले में अगली सुनवाई 12 मार्च को होगी। जिला जज के अवकाश पर होने के कारण शुक्रवार को इस मामले की सुनवाई नहीं हो सकी। इसलिए पेशी पर आए वलीउल्लाह को वापस जेल भेज दिया गया। गौरतलब है कि बनारस के वकीलों ने वलीउल्लाह के मामले को लड़ने से इनकार कर दिया था। इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट के आदेश पर यह मामला गाजियाबाद स्थानांतरित हो गया था।

In Allahabad court, they finally found the defense lawyers. The first sitting of the court happened yesterday, but hearing has been postponed to 27,28 Feb.
