By Syed Saleem Shahzad
http://www.atimes.com/atimes/South_Asia/IG07Df01.html

ATol: Maulana Abdul Aziz has been arrested. Many people believe the way in which he was arrested does not match the actions of a person who preaches to others to sacrifice their lives for the cause.

Aziz: This is all government propaganda. The night Maulana Abdul Aziz was arrested and brought to [state-run television] PTV, I had just finished a talk show and was on the way out with Ejazul Haq [minister for religious affairs] and the anchor of the program. I saw Maulana Aziz along with security officials. He hugged me, but only touched fingers when Ejaz tried to shake hands with him.
<b>He immediately told me that he had been deceived. He said he was called by a senior official of an intelligence agency with whom he had been in touch for a long time. Since the official could not enter the mosque to meet him [to save his cover and identity] he asked Maulana Aziz to come to Aabpara police station [in walking distance of the mosque] and asked him to dress in a burqa to avoid being identified. [Aziz admitted that he and his brother Ghazi had done this many times before when they were declared wanted by the government]. But as soon as Maulana Aziz left the mosque he was arrested. </b>

Pioneer.com
PTI | Islamabad
Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has reportedly "resented" the airing of a "humiliating" interview by state-run PTV of head cleric of Lal Masjid Maulana Abdul Aziz, who was caught while trying to escape in a 'burqa' a day ago.

<b>Musharraf has directed the channel not to repeat the telecast of the interview in which Aziz was "grilled" in the same burqa robes he wore while attempting to flee.</b>

The Pakistan President resented the airing of the humiliating interview while chairing a meeting attended among others by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Interior Secretary Kamal Shah, National Security Council Secretary Tariq Aziz and senior civil and Army authorities, local daily The News reported on Friday.

<b>It was observed that the interview had sent wrong signals across the country damaging the reputation the Government had earned by showing extraordinary restraint in case of Lal Masjid, especially in delaying the launch of the commando action for the sake of safety and security of innocent people, the report said</b>.

The interview had also apparently resulted in hardening the stand of Aziz's brother Abdul Rashid Ghazi who appeared hesitant to surrender fearing the same humiliating treatment, it said.

In the interview, Aziz said he tried to leave the premises of Lal Masjid in consultation with other colleagues, including his brother Ghazi and asked the militant students to surrender, saying they will not be able to resist the operation.

In the high-level security meeting, Musharraf has directed the security agencies to be patient in carrying out the operation at Lal Masjid and allow maximum time for the parents to safely take out their daughters from the Jamia Hafsa. Meanwhile, parents of girl students stranded in the Jamia Hafsa had requested Musharraf to give time to their daughters to come out of the Madrasa, saying they had no links with the administration, the newspaper said <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<b><span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>* :</span></b> Indeed - as I have earlier stated it seems that UNCLE has been left out, not the position in the Soccer Field but, <b>in the cold</b> as this time around Mush has said <b>Yes Sil - Light Away, Immediately Sil as I am youl obedient Selvant!</b>

Meanwhile Mush the Tush is issuing threats to the Occupants of the Jamia Jafria(?) - the Male Madrassah where Abdul Rashid Ghazi, the deputy leader of Lal Masjid is in charge.

<b><span style='font-size:13pt;line-height:100%'>Musharraf tells mosque rebels to surrender or risk being killed</span></b>

<b>BOLAN : President Pervez Musharraf on Saturday told Islamists at a besieged mosque in the capital to surrender or risk being killed, in his first public comments on the five-day standoff.

"They should not prolong, they should surrender and hand over their weapons, otherwise they risk being killed," Musharraf told reporters during a visit to the flood-hit southwestern province of Baluchistan.

"The government has enough power and no one can stand before its might. Our concern is for children and women and we are showing lot of patience and restraint," he added.</b>

Hundreds of hardline students and dozens of militants have been holed up at the Red Mosque in Islamabad since Tuesday in a bloody confrontation that has left at least 19 people dead.

The government says dozens of women and children are still inside the mosque being used as human shields.

Musharraf said 1,300 people had already surrendered so the rest should now follow.

Military ruler Musharraf, a key US ally in the so-called war on terrorism, said the actions of the mosque's followers had embarrassed the Pakistani government abroad.

<b>"They have defamed Islam, they have defamed Pakistan, and they have embarrassed Pakistan internationally," he added.</b> <!--emo&:flush--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Flush.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='Flush.gif' /><!--endemo-->

His statement came hours after the cleric leading the resistance said he had received a call from an unidentified man who had allegedly tried to shoot Musharraf's plane on Friday in revenge for the crackdown.

Nareshji,

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->Just a speculation on my part. I do not think that that the militant are the students. If they are they would have obeyed their mentors and spiritual leaders Aziz and Rasheed's suggestion to surrender. Students would have never fired on the parents when they went to Masjid to persuade their children to surrender. These must be Al-Qaida related militants. And this situation would have never reached the point where it is today.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Paki Army is behaving like Indian Police, as they do after every terrorist attack, they blame Pakistan not Indian Islamist, now those Indian Islamist started acting outside India.

ISLAMABAD: The suicide jackets have been distributed among the Lal Mosque militants and they could resort to suicide attacks, the reports said.

A foreign news agency quoting the security authorities said that a big action is likely to be taken against the militants holed up in Lal mosque.

FAZAL SHER
ISLAMABAD - Militants holding up in Lal Masjid are heavily equipped with arms and ammunition and thus endangering the lives of hundreds of students inside the mosque, said Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao while addressing a news conference here on Saturday.
He said that the operation against the miscreants inside the Lal Masjid could be completed in few hours but the government wanted to evacuate the innocent students who were taken as hostage.
“The presence of large number of students inside the Lal Masjid has compelled the law enforcement agencies to show maximum restrain,” he said. He said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had also directed the law enforcement agencies in a meeting to end the operation as soon as possible but also to ensure minimum loss of human lives. <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin--><b>Ghazi says plane attack linked to siege</b>
link
ISLAMABAD (AFP) - Deputy head of Lal Masjid Abdul Rasheed Ghazi said a bid to shoot down President Musharraf’s plane was apparently in revenge for the bloody government siege of his mosque, in which he alleged that 70 students had died.
“I received a telephone call yesterday from a man I did not know,” who offered his “congratulations” before news of Friday’s attack on Musharraf’s aircraft became public, Ghazi told AFP by telephone.
“He said, ‘I fired at Musharraf’s plane just a while ago.’ He said that Musharraf survived,” said Ghazi.
Ghazi said the man asked him to tell the media about the incident, and that he replied, “I am inside, it’s better if you tell them yourself.”
“He did not give me his name and hung up. Half an hour later I was told that the news had appeared in the media,” Ghazi added.
Ghazi said that forces had so far killed up to 30 female and 40 male students in the siege of the mosque. “We buried the women because we did not want postmortems to be conducted as they are un-Islamic,” Ghazi said. <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
