OK I know a lot of you are not into this stuff but its an interesting read.. <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' />
SATURN IN KARKA And how about this... <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='ohmy.gif' /> QUOTESaturn is significator for dukha,(unhappiness) hindrances, obstacles and destruction. It destroys the old and decadent society and habits to bring in the new. It is Time or KaaL personified. According to Varahamihira the transit of Saturn in Punarvasu, Pushya and Aslesha nakshatras is inauspicious. It causes destruction and turmoil as given in Chapter 10 slokas six and seven of Brihat Samhita. "When Saturn passes through the star Punarvasu, the people of Punjab, Saurashtra, Sind and Sauvira as well as cave dwellers <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='ohmy.gif' /> are harmed: when it stays in star Pusya, persons engaged in ringing bells, those who make loud announcements (or those who live in hamlets), Yavanas, Kiratas ( traders), gamblers and flowers are destroyed." Sind and Sauvira are probably same region. This forms part of Pakistan now. According to Alberuni Sauvira stands for Multan and Jaharavar in Pakistan now. Saurastra is Surat and Pratyanta is a border country. As per shloka seven of the same book, the Saturnâs transit in Ashlesha, aquatic objects or animals, as well as snakes are destroyed.

Ok, there was some discussion on beef eating during Vedic/ancient times being peddled by commies. I read the Sandhya Jain's article referring to it. May I request forum members to post riposte if you will on the falsehood that beef was eaten in ancient times? Here is what I would like: > Who has claimed that absurdity? Any books or articles? > Anyone thrashing that bogus theory? Sources and references please. I searched the whole site but only found handful of references with tangential reference like the Sandhya Jain article. Please give me as much ammo as you can. Thanks for the help.

Here we are producing a brief research on the effects of the entry of Saturn in Karka or Cancer, which happens after every thirty years. We will initially confine ourselves to India and make a cursory reference to some world events to show that when Saturn is in Karka, some of the results that can be observed are: 1) Before entering Karka, Saturn in Vrisha and Mithuna will have created disturbance through wars, famines and other man made and natural calamities 2) The government in power gets shaken up or is replaced through an election or a coup. 3) Then after entering Karka it leads to redrawing of boundaries of nations in many places of the world. Some examples which come to the mind easily are: 1) After the First World War in 1917-18 following the Treaty of Versailles, boundaries in Europe were redrawn and the countries to suffer most were those belonging to Central Powers (Germany and its allies including the Ottoman Empire). 2) The Communist Revolution of 1917 in Russia took place when Saturn was in Karka. Similarly, after the Second World War when Saturn entered Karka, the freedom of India was the biggest historical world event on 15 August 1947. Pakistan was formed. Next year in 1948, Israel was born on 14 May. Again in 1975-77 period when Saturn was preparing to enter Karka, two of the Himalayan kingdoms, Sikkim and Bhutan merged in the union of India. When I was producing my major research in mundane astrology for the the first issue of the Journal of Astrology (Mesh Sankranti 1997 (April-June 1997), I emphasised the importance of two particular axis for India, Vrisha and Vrischika and Makar and Karka. A natural and inevitable result of this was the observation that the entry of Saturn in Karka which will be in the seventh house from the originally alloted rashi of India which is Makara, must have significant consequences. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT TSP WILL BREAK INTO SINDH AND BALOCH

Acharya,
I dont know but that list compiled by Mehta in quiet impressive. Atleast makes you wonder.. On the same token though it also talks about Saurashtra (Guj) where Sri Somnath is located. So dont know what to think. I have heard various things from people about this move of shani-maharaj so lets see what happens - next few months will tell.. <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/lmaosmiley.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='lmaosmiley.gif' />

I have seen another list like this and I have it.
It has the same list of events for the last 300 years. The next few years 2005-2007 would be historic for our lifetime. India internally would also be effected. There could be revolution supported by India's enemies. You could see mass awkening for nationalistic feelings and world awareness of Indians as never seen before. Be ready for all of these.

Saturn A major planet which always leaves its mark on national and world politics is Saturn which will transit into Karka on the midnight of 5 September 2004. Saturn here leads to the redrawing of the boundaries of many states in India and even of other countries. Saturn who will stay here for two years and a half will also clear the path for mid term poll is the surest basis for the present government not lasting long enough. But this will happen only Saturn retrogrades into Mithuna in January 2005 and re-enters Karka in May 2005. That is a crucial period to be watched. Saturn in Karka will not allow an Indian prime minister to stay in power long. It therefore can be inferred that the mid term poll will be conducted under another prime minister but with UPA continuing in power. Indian Independence Horoscope Though we do not have the horoscope of the prime minister of India, Sri Manmohan Singh we can take some help from the national horoscope of India in which there the dasha of Venus-Saturn-Mars from 9 August 2004. This Mars will pave the way for some major changes at the centre. And being the seventh and twelfth lord, aspecting exactly the twenty second dreshkona, is not an indication of non-violent events. What is being pointed is that , without being alarmists, we should be prepared for some violent events in the second half of the year 2004, particularly in the period from August to November , with possibly September seeing some climax of it all. Already the uncertain period in the turbulent era of coalition politics, with the communists controlling the central government with so much power and no responsibility is showing daily. What then does the horoscope of the oath taking ceremony of Sri Manmohan Singh, the prime minister show ? Peace will be elusive, strikes are visible but worse, even violence which can affect the life of the nation and top men. Communal harmony will be missing with such a heavily afflicted ninth house. Similarly the afflicted seventh house and afflicted seventh lord will show the difficulties in foreign policy. <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/grenade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='grenade.gif' /> . In the earlier years, India had come closer to USA and Israel. Is the change now towards Arab countries at the cost of Israel-India relations is the one question which will be uppermost in minds. Then the relations with USA may not be as cordial as in previous particularly in the uncertain year of US election. But planets are pointing towards disturbance, communal in nature with violence leading to some tragedy and also changes at the top level at the centre. Is the nation prepared for changes with violence is the question we have to ask.

Ramayana was real: American professor www.deccan.com/City/CityNews.asp? Hyderabad, Sept. 24: Professor Robert P Goldman, director of the University of California Education Abroad Programme, termed the epic Ramayana a "real-life" account. Delivering a lecture on `Ramayana: Medieval Indian Interpretations', organised by the University of Hyderabad as part of its distinguished lecture series, Goldman rejected the Western view that Ramayana was a mixture of the real and the mythological. "There's clear-cut evidence to show that the incidents described in Ramayana took place," he said here on Friday. Goldman said the experts had calculated the exact period in which the war between Lord Rama and Ravana took place and the time taken by Lord Hanuman to bring the Sanjeevani herb and how long the demon Kumbhakarna used to sleep. Goldman said he believed that Hanuman flew to Sri Lanka and spoke a human language. "It is something supernatural and something natural," he said. "It is not myth as is generally claimed by some Westerners. Rama-yana is a reality."

Came from Mars <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /> Most of the extant mtDNA boundaries in South and Southwest Asia were likely shaped during the initial settlement of Eurasia by anatomically modern humans QUOTESince the initial peopling of South and West Asia by anatomically modern humans, when this region may well have provided the initial settlers who colonized much of the rest of Eurasia, the gene flow in and out of India of the maternally transmitted mtDNA has been surprisingly limited. Specifically, our analysis of the mtDNA haplogroups, which are shared between Indian and Iranian populations and exhibit coalescence ages corresponding to around the early Upper Paleolithic, indicates that they are present in India largely as Indian-specific sub-lineages. In contrast, other ancient Indian-specific variants of M and R are very rare outside the sub-continent.

Incidentally i found the name of deity of that community being "Oraganti Ellama" , oraganta-one stone-orugall-todays warangal.
I found it very intresting.Does any one have any ideas of the Kakatiyars and Kammavars ? thanks a lot . that was real helpful. Jahan Shah the wazir of Feroz Tuglaq.... ? I think i have some stories about our migration down south....ill dig them out tonight and tell you more... nothing like knowing what your ancestor was doing 400 years ago... <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /> what spoils the play is everyone who attributes their caste some royale paint. i am happy if i know the truth. Infact while i read about these at home , i also found the reason behind several so called "meaningless" customs in our culture. For example we have a system of marriage within the community where certain sub-sects arent supposed to marry certain sub-sects, they are named brother-in-line kind of. I was wondered at how our people put such systems in place to avoid in-breeding within families which weakened the gene pool <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cheers.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='cheers.gif' />

amarnath, In jest I once remarked there is a Punjabi in every Indian and will waken as needed. This account of migration from Multan area of a very 'Telugu' group of people shows how true my remark is.
My hunch is Jahan Shah was a convert to Islam under the Tuglaqs and became the governor of Multan (old ancestral land) and even becmae a wazir to Feroz Shah. He built a large number of buildigs, mosques in and around Delhi. Pioneer had an article about his work around Delhi. Re caste and all that. I think that the two invasions kind of locked and arrested the long running upward movement of Indian society which is coming into its own now that there is self rule.

Err , so far i have been able to point my ancestory to some where around Maharashtra from during the times of Parsurama ....( well atleast the book i have says so) ..Renuka Devi (mother of Parsurama) , apparently helped us in avoiding Parsuramas wrath on shatriyas and so and so the legend goes....very intresting stories. <img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /> ..the exact area from which our ancestors had migrated was "warangal" Telugus are mostly from the tri-linga country ( sorrounded by three lingas) , so i believe multan could be a far off place for them. Punjab and its sorroundings could have been the cradle of the sindu sarasvati civilisation...and it must have spread south
