QUOTEhe UPA government won the trust vote in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. As per electronic vote count, 253 votes were polled in favour of the government and 232 against it. There were 2 abstentions. ( Watch )

This final tally may change later after counting of voting slips.

Earlier, the Opposition members rushed to the well of the House, forcing the PM to cut short his reply to the debate.

The Speaker then put the confidence motion to vote.

Rediff has 10 absentees while Times Of India had 2! Who's right?

Deve Gowda and JMM must have voted for deal.
#48
Now Somnathh CHatterjee should resign.
#49
There was cross voting and abstaining.

Shows that BJP is not ready for prime time as they did not understand the fight. In the other forum I had posted that the issue to look at is the effects of UPA win. Offcourse the usual folks replied.

I think that Karat's reign is over. CPM will get back to becoming a WB party. It always was.
Cases against BSP and all the opposition will be re-opened.
Next riot or blasts will see RSS banned.
Uncle will take care of Iran.
The impact on INC will be much greater than all these. It will lose its votebank. Hopefully it gets eclipsed as its not relevant anymore. It has done its job of delivering India again.
Mayawati phenomenon will become national.

MMS replies on the PMO website.
Quote:QUOTEThe Leader of Opposition, Shri L.K. Advani has chosen to use all manner of abusive objectives to describe my performance. He has described me as the weakest Prime Minister, a nikamma PM, and of having devalued the office of PM. To fulfill his ambitions, he has made at least three attempts to topple our government. But on each occasion his astrologers have misled him. This pattern, I am sure, will be repeated today. At his ripe old age, I do not expect Shri Advani to change his thinking. But for his sake and India’s sake, I urge him at least to change his astrologers so that he gets more accurate predictions of things to come.

As for Shri Advani’s various charges, I do not wish to waste the time of the House in rebutting them. All I can say is that before leveling charges of incompetence on others, Shri Advani should do some introspection. Can our nation forgive a Home Minister who slept when the terrorists were knocking at the doors of our Parliament? What is sleeping with the enemy mean? Can our nation forgive a person who single handedly provided the inspiration for the destruction of the Babri Masjid with all the terrible consequences that followed? To atone for his sins, he suddenly decided to visit Pakistan and there he discovered new virtues in Mr. Jinnah. Alas, his own party and his mentors in the RSS disowned him on this issue. Can our nation approve the conduct of a Home Minister who was sleeping while Gujarat was burning leading to the loss of thousands of innocent lives? Our friends in the Left Front should ponder over the company they are forced to keep because of miscalculations by their General Secretary.

First news we heard -
London: MF Husain says he is returning to India

I think we will see massive appeasement for Muslims in India.

Ramana

That doesnt make sense. INC and commies wouldnt have tabled this if they thought they was any chance of loosing. This deal perhaps provides them some opening into middle-class which is BJPs area.

Commies are winning because they wanted to get out of this anyways before the next LS polls. They will start backing the secular parties as soon as LS polls over. Their power will perhaps rise if they come back to power. They can now raise stink about inflation/aam-aadmi/etc just like any other opposition party and reap benefits of anti-incumbency.

Situation of behenji/amar-singh is fluid, altho muslim/brahmins in UP will be interesting to see.

BJP need to compile the kartoots of UPA aggressively and play this out for next 6 months. They have time on their side now. Its good they didnt spend any money in this. If crude-oil stays as it is, they have good chance.

PMO site just reflects how sick Moron SIngh is and Babus are busy making money doing all nonsense.

Has anyone bothered proofing this:

There's a real danger of making this into a LKA vs MMS episode. MMS has lot to gain going down this route when everyone knows that the vote was brought on the floor by people MMS has been sleeping with for 50 months. What's sleeping mean? Exactly that.

LKA and his men will have to play this right if they desire to come back in another 10 months or so during LS polls. In another 10 months for all you know Mayawati will be on UPA wagon with Mulayam trying to scrape through with 3rd-front wannabes.

It'll be interesting to see how the bribe scandal will play through. The sting was made by Rajadeep Sardesai's TV crew and BJP were forced to jump the gun. Can UPA kill this CD and the story?

Biggest loser in this is Prakash Karat. With any luck he'll migrate to China and take his beloved with him. If Somnath can engineer some additional splits in Left, it might not necessarily be a bad thing; Basu might still be calling shots via Somnath.

What's the dynamics in INC now? Rahul babba still a PM candidate or will MMS retire into the night after pulling this through? There's little doubt that UPAs spent money like there's no tomorrow to stay in power, so how does it look for next LS elections. Who's gonna fill the hole in pocket now? At what cost to nation?

Is it possible that the communists themselves abstained from the vote. Communists got to grandstand to their constituency (which includes muslims), but they had previously assured that government would not fall by roping in SP assurance.

Dhu: Is this a secret ballot process? If not, we should know as to how every MP voted.

Bribe CD in Parliament was part of TV sting

Onkar Singh in New Delhi | July 22, 2008 18:59 IST

Rajdeep Sardesai, editor-in-chief of the television channel CNN-IBN, whose organisation filmed the controversial tape, showing three Members of Parliament from Madhya Pradesh accepting money from members of the ruling alliance, told rediff.com that two reporters have been working on the story for the last ten days and the channel's investigations had not been completed when Bharatiya Janata Party jumped the gun and leaked out details of the tapes to mediapersons at the BJP office in Parliament House.

BJP President Rajnath Singh said the UPA government had no moral authority to continue in office and hence Prime Minister Dr Manmohan should resign.

Railway Minister Lalu Yadav alleged that this was engineered by BJP leader L K Advani and claimed that all allegations against the UPA government were fake. "Yeh sab farzi hai," he said as he walked into Parliament House only to return with Pappu Yadav who alleged that he had been approached by a senior BJP leader to vote against the UPA government.

Speaker Somnath Chatterjee revealed to members that Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal wanted to resign because of what happened in the House. "It is a black day in the history of the House. I have got the CD. I will take a decision on the matter and nobody found to be involved will be spared," the Speaker told Parliament.

Interesting. So Sardesai would have released the CD later and maligned the MPs and their parties. Total double laddos. And now he has kaddos.

Was Sardesai working for vested interests to blackmail the ruling party or what? So who called him in to film the encounter? The UPA or the MPs themselves? Wonder if the Speaker will go after the Ruling alliance and TV network for suborning MPs?

It is possible or that what they had planned, commies need time to bash Congress on inflation and high price etc, now they will get 6-7 months to do so.
