Mudy Ji :

The Lotastaani-Terroristani Government and Leadership of all hues is pursuing the "Attack India, Defeat India, Conquer India, Kill the Kufr and finally Islamize India"

In this single minded quest it has subjugated its people and diverted all available funds to bolster its Armed Forces to attain an Offensive Defence Capability superior to India.

As such Economic and Finalcial consideration has been thrown out of the window.

The Tarbela Dam Electric Generation cpacity has been reduced to about 11% while the Four Power Generation have a cpacity of about 28.5% which means that these units are working at under 40% or the installed Capacity.

As such the Financial Loss from a day or two of "Shutting Down" of Markets is no big deal.

Here is the latest Article :

Power crisis loom as 10 Tarbela units shut down

ISLAMABAD : Ten of the power generation units of Tarbela Power House have been shut down due to shortage of water while 380 megawatts are being generated with the help of 4 units.

According to WAPDA sources, 10 out of 14 power generation units of Tarbela Power House had to be closed down due to rainless season and shortage of water in River Indus.

Only four units are operating at the moment, producing 380 MW electricity.

The total power generation capacity of Tarbela Power House is 3,478 MW.

The shutting down of 10 power generation units will cause a major power crisis. Karachi, Faisalabad, Multan, Lahore and areas adjacent to Tarbela Power House will be directly affected by the power crisis.

Cheers
Mentally, they are adopting Arabia culture of stone age. So they can easily adopt life without electricity. 384 MW is sufficient to run Paki Army and missiles paint factories. Anyway, there is no important manufacturing unit is left in Pakistan, land of pure. They can get things from China or India via Dubai.

Only disadvantage or advantage I can see, Junta will have free time to make more jihadi in absence of electricity or depression will keep them away from process. This is head n tail, only time will tell, whether they have boom or bust. <img src='http://www.india-forum.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />

Our major concern should be, Jihadi production unit which is still running in full mode get a jolt from current event. Because replacement population is big issue even Pakis are doing self help in reduction.
Pakis are not poor, They are very rich beggars.

Govt urged to scrap Gwadar port deal
Quote:ISLAMABAD: The Planning Commission’s task force on maritime industry has urged the government to cancel the deal with the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) to operate the Gwadar port.

According to a presentation before Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Sardar Aseff Ahmed Ali, the Gwadar port project is a disaster, as the 40-year concession agreement with the PSA has not yielded any results in its first three years.

“The government and the PSA are in default of commitments. No commercial vessel (has) arrived at Gwadar port in three years and there is no possibility of any (docking there) for many years.” <img src='http://www.india-forum.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

The task force said the port would be made approachable by road in four years, and a rail link would take between 15 and 20 years.

A rail network that could connect the port with Afghanistan, and through Afghanistan, with Central Asian Republics and China, in addition to cities and towns in Pakistan, was badly needed.

The task force said that goods from 72 ships had been unloaded at the port at a rate of Rs2,000 per ton, which translated into a revenue of about Rs220 million for the PSA.

According to the presentation, the government was to purchase 2,281 acres of land on the waterfront for the PSA. This land was to be given to the port operator for 40 years.

“But purchasing the land does not seem possible because doing so would cost at least Rs15 billion,”
said the task force. “And without this land, the PSA is unwilling to invest.”

The PSA had undertaken to spend $525 million in five years, but nothing was spent in the last three years. The PSA was not likely to invest even in the next two years, said the task force.

Typical Terroristani reporting.

Gwadar has Imported / off-loaded close to a Million Tonnes (if not more) of Ureas and Wheat since its commencement last year or a bit earlier.

I reckon that by stating "Commecial Vesel" it means no Vessels have used Gwadar for the Non-Pakistani Trade i.e. Goods to and from the Central Asian Republics as well as far as the Indian Areas which are haveing difficulties with trading via Kolkata! :rolleyes

Meantime if you want to compare the Port of Gwadar's progress you would do well to check on the Indian Port of Mundra on its Web Site www.portofmundra.com or www.mundraport.com

This is the method of Developing and Operating a Port. <img src='http://www.india-forum.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Quote:He said the people kept targeting him but never thought that the police training college where the US camp was established was located in the jurisdiction of the Punjab. “Why did the critics ignore this reality and avoid censuring the Punjab government for allowing the setting up of the ATAP camp,” he asked and said that the facility was established in 2003 by the Musharraf regime.

Following a comprehensive monitoring of the activities of the US officials, Pakistan’s intelligence agencies warned that the ATAP camp had been found monitoring activities in the Kahuta nuclear site.

“Concerned authorities may be asked for a joint survey of the ATAP camp by incorporating technical experts to assess if any interception equipment to detect radioactive rays has been installed at the facility,” the report said.

Sounds like, only for public consumption.

Karachi target killings have claimed 256 lives

Body formed to probe incidents; Rangers given additional powers;issuance of arms licences banned

ISLAMABAD : As many as 256 people, including workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the MQM (Haqiqi), the PPP and the ANP, have so far fallen prey to target killings in Karachi.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik, while expressing concern over the target killings, has directed the departments concerned to take immediate measures to punish the culprits. A high-level meeting, chaired by Rehman Malik here on Monday, took stock of the ever-increasing incidents of target killings in Karachi. Senior officials in the Ministry of Interior, the government of Sindh, intelligence agencies and rangers attended the meeting.

The DG rangers, Sindh, the Sindh home secretary and representatives of the intelligence agencies briefed the meeting on the prevailing situation in Karachi, with a particular reference to the target killings.

The meeting was told that 256 target killings took place in Karachi and those killed included 69 people belonging to the MQM, 60 to the MQM (Haqiqi), 28 to the PPP, 23 to the ANP and other political parties and 41 people belonging to religious groups.

The areas, which have been identified as prone to the target killings, were New Karachi (31), Shah Faisal (27), Malir (26), North Nazimabad (18), Liaquatabad (14), Gulshan-e-Iqbal (14), Gaddap (14), Korangi (12), Gulberg (11), Landhi (11), Baldia (11), Saddar (10), Jamshed Town (9), Bin Qasim (6), Lyari (5), SITE (2) and Clifton (1).

These areas are being notified under the relevant ATA section for facilitating special security and investigation measures. The meeting did not rule out the possibility of involvement of hostile agencies using local surrogates and urged close tags to monitor their activities, sources said.

After thorough deliberations, the interior minister directed all the intelligence agencies to synergise their efforts and share real time intelligence with all the law-enforcement agencies. A local committee, comprising representatives of the intelligence and law-enforcement agencies, has been formed that would meet on a weekly basis for exchanging information and reviewing the law and order situation. It has also been decided to take the Rangers off the police duties, to be deployed for specific duties only. The Rangers, where called in aid of civil power, would be given powers under the Anti-Terrorism Act to deal with any extraordinary law and order situation. Appropriate powers, with legal cover, would be given to the Sindh Rangers.

Some suspected areas of Karachi would be cordoned off for the purpose of search and investigation under the Anti-Terrorism Act and action would be taken against criminals across-the-board, without any fear or favour.

An immediate ban has been imposed on the issuance of arms licences. Proposals have also been sought from the provinces for the control and monitoring of arms licences and weapons. To check fake licences, the provinces have been asked to computerise all the licences within four weeks. There shall be zero tolerance for the target killings and the SHOs of the respective areas shall be held accountable for the target killings in their areas. A list of suspects has also been provided.

The ban on pillion riding will be strictly implemented. The police and the rangers will be provided 200 motorcycles for more manoeuvrability and patrolling in narrow streets. A high-powered committee, headed by Additional Secretary Interior Asif Nawaz and assisted by representatives of all the agencies and the Sindh Police, has been ordered to probe into the recent target killings and submit its report in a week. The administration has been directed to notify under the ATA the custody of any suspect picked up in cases of target killings.

The minister announced a Rs 1 million reward for any citizen providing a video clip or a photograph of target killing or an act of terrorism that could lead to arrest or identification of the culprits. The minister also ordered a probe into the earlier three incidents of Muharram to find out similarities and links with the Dec 28 carnage.

The minister ordered immediate action against the culprits on the basis of the information received through various intelligence sources and communication intercepts. Meanwhile, on the directive of the interior minister, the following committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Asif Nawaz, additional secretary-II, Ministry of Interior. Its members would comprise representatives of the ISI, the MI Directorate at the GHQ, the IB, the FIA, the Rangers Sindh, the special branch (Karachi police), the elite force (Karachi) and Mehr Malik Khattak, deputy secretary (law), Ministry of Interior.

The committee will identify the target killings, which took place during the last six months — with effect from July 1, 2009 — and probe into the circumstances under which each target killing took place. The committee will conduct its business on day-to-day basis and furnish its report by Jan 20, 2010.
