Swamy scores, SC sets rules for prosecuting authorities
Quote:The Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that public officials must decide within three months on applications seeking permission to prosecute government authorities. This order is in context of Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy seeking permission from the Prime Minister's Office to prosecute former telecom minister A Raja in the 2G spectrum allocation scandal.

There should be a time frame for deciding on applications seeking prosecution of government officers, the court ruled. If the government fails to decide on an application, then it shall be deemed that the prosecution of an authority has been allowed.

The order is a slap on the face of the UPA government, said Swamy while speaking to reporters after the court order. The court accepted Swamy's application seeking investigation against the Prime Minister's Office.

The Supreme Court will pronounce today its verdict on the issue of framing of guidelines for grant of sanction to prosecute a public servant that arose in the wake of alleged inaction by the prime minister in granting nod to prosecute former telecom minister A Raja in the 2G scam. A bench of justices GS Singhvi and AK Ganguly had reserved its judgement on November 24, 2010 on the petition filed by Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy alleging that there was delay in taking action on his plea seeking sanction to prosecute Raja.

Swamy, who made Prime Minister Manmohan Singh a party in the case, had initially sought a direction to the PM to take decision on sanction to prosecute Raja but later on he sought framing of guidelines on the issue as his plea became infructuous with the resignation of DMK leader as telecom minister on November 14, 2010.

The designated CBI Court has let off the Union Home Minister in the 2 G Scam case. It s a positive development in a sense that Shri Chidambaram is among the few Ministers in the present government who is considered to be efficient. In fact, since his taking over as Union Home Minister he has brought in much improvement in the security apparatus of the State, which is quite visible. He is considered to be a man of action and is very articulate in his presentation. It would have been a great loss to the nation if he was found guilty in the 2G scam and made to quit the Government.

I am sure the above posting of mine will draw in angry rebuttals from many members of this forum, yet I have taken the risk .

So ravish, efficient and corrupt can be let-off.

I am not much into it, but interacting with few government bureaucratic heads I second that, the amount of fools who work as government staff is mind boggling, extracting work from them is like getting 'water out of a solid rock'.

I mean sometime it amazes me that any work gets done.

What is the latest score of Swamy? In my opinion a big ZERO. Tell me because of him if someone is arrested or if an action is taken etc.
