It's Bible Belt. Certain states in southern parts of US are referred to as Bible Belt - ex. South & North Carolinas, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee. Louisiana etc. The Christian (Baptists?) Coalition is pretty strong out there. They form Bush's core constituents. I wonder if any Republican can get elected without their backing.
