Bofors: NDA wants Kalam to step in
NEW DELHI, Jan. 20. â A delegation of NDA leaders today urged the President, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, to look into the alleged âabuse of powerâ by the UPA government by facilitating âde-freezingâ of Ottavio Quattrocchiâs London bank accounts. They also urged him to examine the role of the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, and the UPA chairperson, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, in the âscandalousâ episode. During the half-hour meeting with the President, they sought his intervention in impressing upon the government the need for seeking law minister, Mr HR Bhardwajâs resignation for his alleged role in sending legal emissaries to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) with the request for de-freezing the Q accounts. They said both the Prime Minister and the UPA chairperson should be asked to give exact details of events leading to the de-freezing. â SNS
