It was a small kingdom which later became a Princly State under British sezurnity. The present Bangali population comprises those who migrated from East Bengal into Tripura during the British time. Sunsequently, a large number of Hindu Bengali refugees croses into tripura from East Pakistan and in later years from Bangladesh.
