Timely intervention by the district administration averted a clash between activists of various Hindu organisations and Christian Missionaries at Rishi Nagar where the latter were holding a congregation last night.
Mr Vivek Sharma, district convener, Mr Manoj Sharma, city convener of the Bajrang Dal, Mr Ram Dev Yadav, district convener of the Dharam Jagran, Mr Babba Handa, Mr Mannu Sharma, state assistant chief of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Mr Bhanu Sharma, city secretary, Vishav Hindu Parishad, along with hundreds of their supporters went to Rishi Nagar to oppose the congregation of Christian Missionaries being organised for alleged religion conversion of persons of the weaker section of society.
Slogans were raised against each other from both the sides which led to tension in the area. On receiving information Mr D.K. Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner, and Mr Mander Singh, SP (H), along with a heavy police force reached the spot and controlled the situation.
Earlier, leaders of Hindu organisations had submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner regarding the alleged evangelizing by the Christian Missionaries in Rishi Nagar.
