Leaders from all political parties came to the Hinduja hospital to visit BJP leader Pramod Mahajan who was shot at by his brother Pravin Mahajan.
As the news of the attack on Mahajan spread, shocked party workers gathered outside the hospital.
Police barricades kept them at bay, and they were sent off after party leaders calmed them.
"I request people not to come here and cause problems," said Vinod Tawde, state BJP President.
With news spreading, political heavyweights from across party lines started coming into the hospital to meet with the family.
<b>First among those who arrived was Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray, followed by Manohar Joshi and former Shiv Sena leader Raj Thackeray</b>.
<b>Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray</b> also visited Mahajan.
Prayers for recovery
Former <b>BJP President LK Advani </b>also cut short his rath yatra and flew to Mumbai, as did other <b>BJP leaders like Venkaiah Naidu, Sushma Swaraj and Kalraj Mishra</b>.
Former <b>Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee </b>will also travel to Mumbai to visit Mahajan.
<b>"Now we can only pray in God's temple for him to get better. It is a matter of prayers and medicines. The medicines are being administered internally and the prayers are being sent from outside," </b>said Sushma Swaraj, BJP leader.
Business leaders, celebrities and politicians from across party lines also came in to meet with the Mahajan family.
Bollywood actor <b>Amitabh Bachchan </b>also paid a visit to the hospital as did <b>industrialist Anil Ambani</b>.
