Ahmedabad: Controversies and Gujarat seem to go hand in hand. It started with the Godhra riots, then it was the Vadodara riots and then it was the ban of Aamir Khan's film Fanaa over his comments on the Sardar Sarovar Project.
This time around, a storm is brewing up over an alleged case of conversion.
Twenty-three-year old Hetal Dave, a college student, went missing from Harsol village in Ahmedabad on April 22.
Also reported missing from the same village was a 25-year-old man, Allauddin, who works in a courier company.
Hetal used to study at the Gujarat Vidyapeeth where she was completing her MA. Both she and Allauddin used to take the same bus to college and work respectively.
On the last day of Hetal's exams, April 22, Alllauddin reportedly approached her and asked her to accompany him.
He took her to the Navtal masjid in Gheelkanta, Ahmedabad, where she and Allauddin were married in a nikah ceremony.
The ceremony was apparently conducted in the presence of an advocate, Naseer Ajmeri and the maulvi of the masjid Yusuf Mohammad Mossiddihiqi.
Hetal was also made to sign an affidavit after which she was whisked to Anand.
News soon reached Hetal's home about the marriage and the fact that she had reportedly converted to Islam.
However, Hetal's father, Praveen Dave, refused to believe that she had run away and got married.
He approached the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and with their help filed a police complaint saying that his daughter was robbed of all her jewellery, abducted by Allauddin and forcibly married.
A case was filed in the court but the girl could not be produced in court on both the dates that had been given for the case - May 7 and 14.
The VHP and the girl's parents then tried for an out of court settlement. allauddin's advocate demanded Rs 1 lakh to arrange a meeting between Hetal and her parents.
The amount was finally settled at Rs 5000 and Allauddin's advocate asked Praveen Dave to come to the Sarkhej Roza masjid is he wanted to meet his daughter.
Dave, alongwith the police and the VHP, reached the masjid. He says that the moment his daughter saw him, she shouted for help and asked him to rescue her from those who had abducted her.
Hetal spoke to the media later and said that she was forcibly married off to Allauddin and converted.
The President of the Dharam Prasar Division of the VHP, Babu Bajrangi, has said that he will approach Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, to come up with a law to prevent love marriages unless the girl's parents are not present.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
This is known as low level ethnic cleansing, done slowly to cleanse the area of Hindus. So much for Gujarat being Nazi Germany as far as Muslims are concerned, in reality no Jew would have dared to do anything even close to this in Nazi Germany and if he did I think we all know what would have happened to the entire Jewish community.
