Hindu body in US flays Centre for ignoring Kashmir
NEW YORK: A US-based Hindu rights group has accused successive Indian governments of paying scant attention to the Hindu minority in Jammu and Kashmir where they are suffering âgrievous violationâ of human rights.
The discrimination suffered by Hindus go unnoticed as they, unlike Christians and Muslims, lack organizations to focus on the difficulties and humiliations faced by them, the president of the Hindu American Foundation, Mihir Meghani, said at a fundraiser organised by the group here.
âThe media in India and abroad have taken the cue from this fateful silence over violations of human rights of Kashmiri Hindus by largely ignoring them. The world human rights organisations have also been muted in their response to the tragedy that has overtaken Kashmiri Hindus,â the foundation said.
The organisation also announced plans to organise a series of fundraisers to collect one million dollars to agitate for the causes of Hindus worldwide.
A report which said that Hindus suffered high level of discrimination in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Fiji and several other Islamic nations was also circulated. The report gave country-wise instances of discrimination and hate-crimes and damage suffered by their religions places.
