Dutt treated like dirt at Olympics
<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->Dutt is in Athens in his official capacity as minister and head of the Indian contingent at the 28th Olympic Games.
Whereas VIPs, officials, delegates and heads of other contingents have been accommodated at the Hilton, Divani Caravel and other luxurious hotels in downtown Athens, the IOA has thought it fit to seclude the minister at the backward-of-beyond Airport Holiday Hotel, kilometres away from the city proper, the Games Village, the Main Press Centre and Games venues.
At the same time, the IOA powers-that-be have accommodated themselves at the poshest of hotels downtown.
Not a single official of the IOA, which called a media conference for him at the remote Holiday Inn hotel yesterday morning, was present at the briefing.
Moreover, unlike his counterparts from other countries, the minister has not been provided security protection, again thanks to the insouciance of the Indian national sports body.
In a move that constitutes a slap in the face of the IOA, the Greek government, on its own initiative, has deemed Dutt a security risk and offered him protection. All this after three days, during which the minister could have been at grave risk.
Although tight-lipped on the subject, the Indian embassy is not one bit amused.

Why? See post 1. Its time these sports federations were answerable to the people for the rotton work they have done. <!--emo&:furious--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/furious.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='furious.gif' /><!--endemo-->
