A trivia that came to my notice recently.
Dhundiraj Govind Phalke (1870-1944), popularly known as Dadasaheb Phalke, the Father of Indian Cinema, after whom the famous Dada Saheb Phalke award is instituted, was a specialist in making movies using the greatest Indian mythologies and traditions.
One of the movies, which Gandhiji has made so famous by admitting as his eye-opener of childhood, was Dada Saheb's movie Raja Harischandra. Two other movies that he created became superhit of his time, were : Gangavatarn and Setu-Bandhan.
I will see if it is possible to find that movie...if anyone knows more, pls share the info.
Also setu bandhan is a theme which caught the imagination of another greatest artist of all times - Raja Ravi Verma.
This painting of his today decorats the hall of Mysore Palace, amongst others of his:
