New Delhi, May 22: The Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Delhi, Maulana Syed Ahmed Bukhari was detained for an hour at Darya Ganj Police station with his supporters who were trying to stage a march to Prime Ministerâs Office. The Shahi Imam wanted to meet the Prime Minister in connection with Fridayâs bomb Blast in Makka Masjid, Hyderabad. The imam was detained for around an hour and was questioned by senior police officials.
Bukhabri was picked up by police along with around 2 dozen supporters at 4 pm and was taken to the office of the assistant commissioner of police of Daryaganj area in central Delhi. They were let off after senior police officials questioned them for at least an hour. "We detained 19 people, including Bhukhari, near the Jama Masjid after they started their protest march to the Prime Minister's residence. They were questioned for an hour," a senior official said.
