Fresh fatwa against Taslima in Kolkata(The stronghold of communist terrorists)
Express News Service
Kolkata, August 17: The Imam of Kolkataâs Tipu Sultan Masjid of Kolkata has provided Taslima Nasrin a monthâs time to leave the country.
A fatwa to that effect was pronounced after the Friday prayers before an assembly of about 700 people this afternoon.
âWe will not let her live in this country. We are providing the government just a month from today. If the government fails to oust her from the country in that time, we will take recourse to other methods. We will not support her stay in this country,â said Syed Mohammad Noorur Rahman Barkati, Shahi Imam of Tipu Sultan Masjid.
âIf the Imam gives us an order, we will surround her house in Kalighat and force her to leave the country. We wholeheartedly support the action of our men in Hyderabad,â said Samir Mobaraki, Secretary of the masjid.
He was supported by a member of Masjid Bachao Tehrik (MBT), Majidullah Farhad Khan, who had come to the city from Hyderabad to address the gathering.
The MBT member, who claimed to be present at the press conference where Taslima Nasrin was heckled, said : âI request the Muslims of Kolkata to join us in ousting the possessed writer from the country.â
Shocked by the fresh fatwa, Taslima Nasrin said: âI was not aware that fundamentalism had grown roots so deep in this country. I am living here with the governmentâs permission. I donât think the government will ask me to leave under pressure.â
The writer also refused to curb her freedom of expression. But she was concerned about those âtutoredâ people who are ready to go to any extreme.
âWe are looking into the matter. We have left no loophole in her security system. She is absolutely safe in the city,â said Gyanwant Singh (DC headquarters).
Amjad Ali Khan, one of the 3 MLAs, who had attacked the writer at the media conference, had arrived to address the gathering. But he was not allowed to address the gathering due to police order, said Singh.
