Does this change of decision have anything to do with the Indian government's lobbying or even with Haneef's ordering about Australia to apologise to India? Hope not. Wouldn't want MMS to extend the influence of his "muslims must have first claim on resources" outside India.
At least there's some surety to be had for Australians, despite the unascertained character of Haneef: even were he ever to have been involved in the UK attack and/or harboured terrorist intentions otherwise, it's unlikely he'd be doing anything like that in future.
