Hindu Voice UK, August 2007
British Hindu organisations have taken up the challenge of bringing international attention to problems that Hindus face in Malaysia, including the demolition of many Hindu temples and the awkward situation which the Shariah court puts Hindus in, illustrated by the stories of Maniam Moorthy and Revathi Massosai.
A number of organisations, led by the Hindu Human Rights group have arranged a protest outside the Malaysian Embassy in Sloane Square, London, on 31st August 2007, coinciding with Malaysiaâs Independence Day. The protest will start at 2pm, and is due to run until 5pm.
Speaking about this issue, Ramesh Kallidai, Secretary General of the Hindu Forum issued the following statement: "The Hindu Forum of Britain is deeply concerned about the blatant discrimination of Hindus in Malaysia on the grounds of their faith. We do not understand how international institutions and world powers can simply watch and wait while scores of Hindu temples are being destroyed and razed to the ground by the Malysian Government. Hindus and other religious minorities of Malyasia are treated as third-class citizens who do not even have basic human rights. The Hindu Forum of Britain fully supports the rally outside the Malaysian embassy on 31st August and calls on the British Government to urgently look at human rights violation in Malaysia."
