As far as I know Jadav=Yadav, it's just that in some Indian languages "J" is used more than "Y" as in "Jaswant" for "Yashwanth".
But I am not sure about the Maharashtra situation, maybe they are not the same there because I do remember reading that the equivalent of Yadavs there are called Dhangar's (Malhar Rao Holkar was one).
Dhanaji Jadhav, I will look him up, GS Sardesai narrates some of his exploits along with Santaji Ghorpade in his book on Marathas (if I remember correctly Dhanaji and Santaji fell out with each other later), might want to check that.
