<!--QuoteBegin-->QUOTE<!--QuoteEBegin-->Contrary to the public announcements that the committee procedures will be for public hearings the deliberations are being held in a secretive setting. The persons who have submitted petitions are NOT being given the date and time for the public hearing. During the hearing, only the petitioner is allowed inside without any journalists or lawyers being allowed to be present. The whole proceedings are designed to arbitrarily shut out expression of views, lack transparency and are patently an unjust, unfair process, contrary to law and certainly contrary to the undertakings given to the Hon'ble Supreme Court by the counsel for the Union of India.

I always suspected that this entire 'public hearing' exercise would be a dishonest one, more so after seeing the names of the committee members. The committee was set up to be simply eyewash and the report that's going to come out from this is going to be a squirt of verbal diarrhoea, just like many of the government reports earlier (Sachar committee report on the muslim welfare and the report on the Godhra train carnage).
