The decision was taken by the Union Cabinet two days after the Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur submitted his "final" report on the BJP-JDS demand for invitation to form the government.
The BJP would be sharing power with the HD Deve Gowda-led JD(S), whose coalition had collapsed last month on the issue of transfer of power which led to imposition of President's rule in the state on October 9.
