New Delhi, Mar 2 : Indian Railways has started a drive to utilise technology to increase its efficiency. They are planning to give instructions to its drivers and guards through SMS.
A senior railway official said, "As part of the Crew Management System all drivers and guards will be communicated through SMS about their duties."
He further added that the main motto is to involve technology in place of existing manual system is to increase the efficiency.
"Crew booking is being computerised now as part of the new system. Drivers, assistant drivers and guards of all passengers and goods trains will be covered under the system," he said.
"We have finalised the SMS modules and it will be applicable to all categories of drivers," the official added.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
