amarnath, In jest I once remarked there is a Punjabi in every Indian and will waken as needed. This account of migration from Multan area of a very 'Telugu' group of people shows how true my remark is.
My hunch is Jahan Shah was a convert to Islam under the Tuglaqs and became the governor of Multan (old ancestral land) and even becmae a wazir to Feroz Shah. He built a large number of buildigs, mosques in and around Delhi. Pioneer had an article about his work around Delhi.
Re caste and all that. I think that the two invasions kind of locked and arrested the long running upward movement of Indian society which is coming into its own now that there is self rule.
