Since Siachen is India's highest battlefield, I'm sure we have developed some techniques/procedures to operate safely up there.
On a more conspiratorial note, there were articles few weeks back from zardari about some good news in Kashmir front. Maybe there are negotiations ongoing to verify ground positions and demarcate a border.
