You got it spot on buddy. In TN CON-gress lost in 1967. Since then they couldnât win any election on their own. Until Moopanar was around they were able to win few but now they are a dead party. They do not have a vote share to boast about.
I had a discussion with fellow blog-reader Sootradhar. I wanted to highlight the game CON-gress is playing in Maharashtra using Raj thackrey. One example of Linguistic chavenishm is TN as per every fellow North-Indian, East-Indian or West-Indian is concerned. What you have to know is the truth behind TN Tamil politics. Let this be an eye-opener to all my fellow-Indians.
Vaiko who dies several times a year for SL Tamils is basically a Telugu. His mother tongue is not Tamil
Jayalalitha is a Kanadiga
Vijayakanth is a Telugu
MGR was a Malayalee
Rajinikanth is a Marathi
Periyar(Founder of DK) was a Kanadiga
Today the second in command of ruling DMK Arcot Veerasamy is a Telugu. Many DMK cadres are Telugus and Malayalees.
In the last state assembly out of 234 MLAâs 88 were Telugu, 38 were Malayalees. That is half the MLAâs were from other languages. So much so that they passed a bill to allow them speak in their respective mother-tongues in assembly. If rest of India thinks TN is language Chauvenist State you guys are utterly wrong. Because Tamil Nadu is the only state in India where Tamil was not compulsory subject in schools. I learnt English and Hindi as first and secon language. Not TAMIL. I do not know what is the case now. But at least until 2000 it wasnât. So much so for Tamil after DK parties ruling TN since 1967. All this anti-Hindi rhetoric is a gimic played out by people who do not even speak Tamil as their mother-tongue.Fot that matter Hindi is spoken as mother tongue only in UP and MP if I am not wrong. Remaining states have their own languages.
Chennai has close to 50% Telugu poplulation.
So Bal Thackrey and Raj Thackrey or for that matter anyone else who wants to copy Linguistic chauvenism in any other part of India must first realise that Tamil politics is played out by non-Tamil speaking politicians. Vaiko in particular. So at least do not cite TN as a case point any more.
