Their fictitious Hindu Terrier drama had been prodded to a crescendo, and they wanted to manufacture some "I told you so" evidence. But then the Maharashtrian commandos didn't do in Kasab as ordered, and Kasab was caught alive instead and spilled the beans. And the media therefore had to resort to/content themselves with mere insinuations of a "Hindu Terrier" subplot instead.
