KOCHI: Blaming the DMK-led government for being a mute spectator to the antinational activities in Tamil Nadu, Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Saturday said Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had an indirect role in the incident at the Madras High Court where Swamy came under attack from a group of lawyers.
âI have always stood against his designs right from the anti-Dravidian movement to the Ramar Sethu issue.
He has not seen a Brahmin with guts until I started opposing him. I have always been his anti-thesis. He has been plotting designs from behind the curtain and adopting a double standard when the public sentiments turned against him,â Swamy told The New Indian Express.
He said âan atmosphere of permissiveness is prevailing in Tamil Nadu and the Chief Minister is not taking any action against the anti-national activities in the state.â On the attack against him at the High Court premises, Swamy said âit has been a planned one as it is well known to the plotters that he could be reached only when he is inside the court.â Condemning MDMK leader Vaikoâs statement that Swamy should be thankful that he was attacked only with rotten eggs and not with swords, Swamy said âVaiko had already threatened me that LTTE leader Prabhakaran had fixed a date for my death. A handful of people in Tamil Nadu are still financially dependent on the LTTE.â He said certain group of people had resentment against him as he stood against the premature release of Nalini, convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. On the coming Lok Sabha polls, Swamy said the situation favoured the AIADMK as the law and order situation under the DMK had been pathetic. âEmpowering Karunanidhi again means empowering his arrogant sons,â he said.
