not difficult to answer at all
It was BJP which claimed (pretended), at the time of its growth, to be for the Hindu cause and interest. Remember the 1991 election that saw BJP reach its zenith and make governments on its own first time in the big states of India including UP? That was when BJP AVOWED to stand for the Ram Janma Bhumi issue, on which they now play with words.
Had AdvaniJi not taken up the emotive Hindu issue at that time, BJP would be still looking at 80-85 seats today.
.............
Nothing to do with Mudy, but when BJP-wallahs ask this question, dont they admit that they would like to have only as much liability and accountability on Hindu issues as the other secular parties? Nice progress for S P Mookerjee's party!

Any news report or TV reporting, they just talk about Hindutava when they are talking about BJP, no dicussion on BJP stands on National security, foreign policy or fight against terrorism or economy. For other parties, they talk about issues. I think this is well thought strategy of Congress to marganlize BJP. It works on brainwashed gizmo youth of India.
